WildStar: Reloaded |OT| Full Steam Ahead!

I don't think so but it's been so long since we last played, so I can't quite remember :/

Hmmm.. weird. I can't find the particular error code in online searches so it might be a new one for this reason.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is a case of either having used the 10 day trial or a guest pass already

Grabbed a cheap boxed version for $4.99 from GameStop so I can get those bonuses discussed last night.

If you bought the game when it came out do you need to buy a new box to get such features? Or have you never bought the game before now?

Right now if you input a boxed copy you get 30 days and an exclusive item only received through boxed copies.

To answer you question, no if you already bought the game you get the extra stuff during F2P (character slots, etc.)

So I will indeed get the box copy features, but not the 30 days + the special item?

Just checked and between deluxe edition and 3 months of subscription i'm instantly going to be at rank 6 cosmic rewards. That's going to flood my inventory so quickly holy moly. I don't care about any of the minipets and crap it's going to give me. It seems like it will be pretty easy for a f2p player to hit the tier where it removes the guild and circle restrictions which is good.

How long does the exclusive item promo last? If I pick a box up from a store a few days from now can I still get the items?

Thanks for the quick answers!

I honestly don't know on that, I believe until boxed copies are sold out. You basically put in the key and then it adds 30 days and you get an item you can claim when you login. Gets one of 5 items I believe. These can be sold also in game if you don't want the item you get.

Those healing tips terrify me, just the thought of doing pugs. Seems more and more likely I'll just play it like a single player rpg for the zones and that's it :/

got a guy banned for reporting his guild name

I succeed much more than I fail in non-veteran group content. I wouldn't worry too much. Once F2P hits you should have more than enough similar leveled people in a guild as well to where you can always just group with guildies. A large part of the issue is that at level 10 your tools are limited to deal with the situation. At level 50 I have an array of heals and utility abilities to help me. Chances are early on you don't have very efficient abilities. The basic Esper heal is very hard on our focus and should be used sparringly, as an example, but it's one of the first heals you get. This means that low level players have to spam that to heal when it even quickly sends a level 50 player oom. That, mixed with less focus regen on gear and abilities, probably makes it a harsh difficulty curve.

Any reason not to just register the code now? Other than a day being wasted I guess. I haven't wrapped my head around how the bonuses work and whether they apply only to boxes registered after F2P starts or not.

No disadvantage. I'd do it now just to be safe haha. The servers might get hit pretty hard on Tuesday (the original release was a trainwreck server-wise) and make attempting to redeem a code a nightmare.

I think I might try this. it would be my first mmo ever.

Make sure to join one of the GAF guilds! Having never played an MMO before you'll probably want people to ask questions of.

Is there a "veteran" status for those who've already purchased/played the game?
I totally regret that I missed WS on the humble bundle deal back then.

Anyway, my client is ready for the 29th.

We've discussed a bunch about the classes, but what about paths? It's really easy to find information that compares paths in basically Carbine's words, so an on paper/idealistic comparison, but how do they actually compare in practice in terms of fun factor and reward/skill usefulness?

I played the beta way back but never purchased it due to lack of time to actually play it though I remember it launching and a lot of the big MMO streamers ditched it due to the grind it required. Is this still the case?

In my experience it depends. Tier list for me would be Explorer > Settler > Soldier > Scientist. Explorer because the world is huge and lots of cool things to find. Settler is satisfying to get a place built up for people to use, the buffs are also really nice. Warrior is fighting stuff. Scientist seems to have a lot of lore related stuff, I'm not much of a lore person. The abilities they get seem mostly convenience things. Settler can summon a mailbox anywhere, as an example. It sounds like marketing but your path really just depends on how you like to play. It has little to no bearing on actual min-maxing so there's no best choice. In terms of gameplay:

Explorer is a lot of jumping puzzle type things. Figuring out how to get up a mountain, seeing vistas.

Settler is a lot of collecting resources you see lying around, using those to build and upgrade temporary buildings at various places. In some cases you can make an outpost appear where one didn't before, or sometimes it's just adding a speed boost or a vendor to a town. I'd say this one is the most slow going. I enjoy it but it's a lot of walking around and picking up stuff.

Soldier is, well, fighting. Not much there to explain.

Scientist is lots of scanning creatures and plants, solving puzzles, really based around lore from what I've seen.

Scientist was actually the best for a long time, I think they've buffed some of the others. Explorers seem nice now, for example.

The thing that always got me was that in PRACTICE, scientist was much more about exploring than explorers - finding all of the things to scan requires actual exploration, explorers are just about jumping. I only really put much time into those two, not big on settler or soldier (though the cosmetic set for settler has a baller hat that you'll want to unlock for your wardrobe, which is account wide so an alt is fine).

FWIW I found scientist to be a blast despite not giving a shit about reading the actual lore, I loved digging into the zones bigtime, and the town portal and group summon are life savers.

wow that northern lights dye is sick.

So scientist can make a town portal and summon group members? What kinds of things can other paths do?

Wildstar Paths Guide

Explorer

- Explorers Safe Fall: Reduce falling damage by 15% (1 minute cooldown)

- Air Brakes: Briefly stops the Explorer in mid-air allowing you to drop from any height without taking damage

- Translocate Beacon: This skill saves your current position which then allows you to returns to that saved point. This skill is excellent for questing as it allows you to quickly move from the quest area back to the hub.

Scientist

- Holographic Distraction: This skill reduces the enemies awareness within a 5 meter radius. I’ve tested it plenty and it just makes it easier to walk past monsters.

- Summon Group: Allows you to teleport your group mates to you as long as they’re in the same continent (it’s awesome!)

- Create Portal: Allows you to teleport to your Capital City

Settler

-Settlers Campfire: Provides a hit-point buff and heals players interacting with the fire. Does not work in PvP

-Summon Mail: Summons a Mailbox so that you can collect your mail

-Summon Vendbot: Summons a Vendbot that you can sell items to

-Summon Crafting Station: ...Summons a Crafting Station.

Soldier

-Back Into The Fray: This ability heals you to full health when you’re out of combat.

-Bail Out!: Bail Out allows you to teleport to a safe area (similar to a Transmat teleport) to specific safe locations on the map.

-Combat Supply Drop: This ability provides you with a box on the floor that you can loot that then provides you with a skill based weapon you can use.

So basically if you're not a scientist, you're fuckin' up.

that explorer one is outdated. They have a rocket jump and the slow fall affects the group now. nnot sure about the rest but I wouldn't necessarily trust it. Also the transmog is worth looking at.

I think it may have been asked before so sorry if it has...but do the Deluxe Edition items stay with my account when F2P goes live?

Maybe I should be a scientist...engineer...guy.

Seriously though, I really liked the idea of being an explorer, but if being a scientist means more exploring and Metroid prime style scanning, that seems more interesting.

I was going to try Engineer/Scientist too

I have an Aurin I played when I bought the game earlier in the year

So everyone on Gaf is rolling Dominion now tho?

I've heard this from a few people, haven't tried yet myself. Will try on launch I guess since servers will be down after work tomorrow.

Maybe its just a PTR client issue?

On another note, count me in as someone who likes the art style too. It feels like a Jak and Daxter X Ratchet and Clank fusion with abit of Disney's Treasure Planet.
