Probably. I'd expect Destiny 2's last hurrah to bring back a lot of the old players, just to play a bit as a farewell tour of sorts. It already seems to be happening even before the final update.

Not even the last stupid gay retarded Star Wars-themed expansion cracked the Marathon launch numbers... so it's hard to see how final-nail-in-the-coffin update is going to do it. Edge of Fate was like 120k and that was before everyone knew how bad Edge of Fate and the portal grind was.

There's some cool stuff in the update and it's free. People are trying to rally to get as many people to log in on the 9th as possible to show Bungie what they're missing, which I think is pretty cringe. But Destiny players are in fact cringe so I'm sure that'll move the needle some.

But it's not really new content, the Pantheon stuff doesn't appeal that much to the casuals, and ultimately it's just a bunch of sandbox tweaks for content that everyone is done with.

I guess there's SRL... That's Sparrow Racing League. But they killed off Amanda Holliday so you won't even get her redneck meme voice announcing it so what even is the point?

Though with how bad Marathon did on console compared to Destiny, in reality that might put it pretty close across all platforms. But Steam CCUs? I'm not seeing it. I'll log in on the 10th so as to not accidentally contribute to the cringe peak.

I think it'd be hilarious if it cracked above the marathon all time, realistically though I'm expecting somewhere between 50k and 83k. Renegades launched with 71k, I'm not sure how many people are coming back to say farewell and grind out a few activities to remember the old days.

I hope I'm wrong and it hits something crazy high like 200-300k, similar to a full expansion just to prove to Bungie / Sony that people still care about the IP.

Technically it's an easier task now that the game will be in a stable state seeing as they wouldn't have to do QA for expansions and seasonal content every time, which was their stated reason for vaulting that shit to begin with.

Renegades as a concept didn't connect. Most of the fanbase saw the Fortnite tie in shoehorned in. Destiny has its own lore there was no need to connect it to the Starwars universe.
