With the Xbox crazy name being revealed, and E3 getting closer every day, I think it's time to decide. Sony has been getting away with anti-consumer practices for awhile now and several of which are being swept under the rug by PS4 only owners.
However, if Sony were to keep ALL the anti-consumer practices on the PS4 and bring them to the PS5, would you still purchase a PS5?
Let's take a closer look at Sony's anti-consumer practices below.
- Censorship on an increasing number of games
- Hesitant of crossplay, limited titles that support it
- Controlling indie developers with contracts.
- PSnow prices
- Closing multiple studios despite those studios not losing a lot of money
- Weakest streaming platform compared to competitors (Stadis etc.)
- Purposely locking the built in PS2 emulator in the PS4 behind a pay wall
- Controlling some Japanese retail release dates in the west.
- Removing digital codes from offline and online retailers
- Rejecting features from other companies which would be good for gamers. (EA Access etc.)
- Throwing Vita owners under the bus less than 2 years after release
- Complacency
- Not helping release original games unless they take control of the IP in many cases.
- Ignoring for 5 years of constant complaints from their loyal customers to improve thumbstick durability.
- Dismissive PSN customer service.
And there's MANY more I haven't even listed. This is but a brief summary.
I know i'll be hesitant to by one if they keep all the PS4's anti-consumer practice for the PS5.
Iv pretty much owned every sony and MS console outside of the xbox one so this will be an unbias take on the matter above. ill say that for the most part right now im leaning towards the Xbox series X alot more concrete info and the fact that MS has halo 6 at launch plus forza already has me more intriged then godfall by miles
Sony's anti-consumer practices
1. "Censorship on an increasing number of games"
Huge turn off so much so that most jp games that get a multiple platform release im buying on the switch. I also dont like how this has pretty much only affected jp devs which is insane since most of those games are way tammer then most of the stuff coming out of the west cough cough GTA
2. "Hesitant of crossplay, limited titles that support it"
I think its BS that sony picks and chooses what to crossplay they should of done it for all fighting games Guilty gear xrd,Blazblue tekken, undernight re birth kof 14 ect. All of them would of benefited greatly from that the community for those games is like split between 3 platforms.
3."Controlling indie developers with contracts"
dont know to much about this but I guess thats why alot of indie games are coming to the switch and steam more so then ever.
4. "PSnow prices"
never paying for psnow already own alot of these games already im not paying for ps now to play games i already own its True BC or nothing for me.
5."Closing multiple studios despite those studios not losing a lot of money"
Moronic the fact that they shut down Evolution and liverpool is saddening and there just some of the few that got the axe. I would of shut bend down before I touched zipper interactive.
6."Weakest streaming platform compared to competitors (Stadis etc.) "
streaming games sucks in gerneal I wish no company bothered with it.
7. "Purposely locking the built in PS2 emulator in the PS4 behind a pay wall"
BS and the fact that it didnt take hackers long to find it is even more sad.
8."Controlling some Japanese retail release dates in the west."
always has been a thing unless sony is the one that gives these studios no choice in the matter.
9."Removing digital codes from offline and online retailers"
pointless on sonys behalf imagine if the only place you could buy a itunes giftcard from was apple.
10."Rejecting features from other companies which would be good for gamers. (EA Access etc.)"
no a fan of subscription services but you can get EA games for pennies on the dollar if you wait 2 or month after they launch.
11. "Throwing Vita owners under the bus less than 2 years after release"
probably one of the most recent blunders a console company has made besides sega with the master system. I solely blame the US branch for vita's failure state side the japan branched offered way better support for everyone from the consumers to the devs which is why the vita still got games over there for so long.
12."Complacency"
happens to every company
13."Not helping release original games unless they take control of the IP in many cases."
lazyness to the max.
14."Ignoring for 5 years of constant complaints from their loyal customers to improve thumbstick durability"
1st Gen ps4 controller were very cheaply made they still are
15."Dismissive PSN customer service."
You might as well not even bother calling sony for playstation text support in terms of current companies support they are the worst next to the cable companies you will end up sitting on the line for hours.
there alot of stuff about current sony i dislike thankyfully for most of these problems you can just shop around for solutions between xbox,pc and nintendo. Ill get a ps5 when persona 6 gets announced or teased GT7 would be another
