But what about the Umakoshi designs?!

How does what I said in my previous post ignore Umakoshi? I said the show looked good, didn't I?

There are precisely two reasons why I am intrigued by Saint Seiya Omega:

i) Umakoshi - as animation director, not character designer;
ii) Yuna, the female Saint. Will she be "allowed" to be as capable a fighter as the boys, unlike the vast majority of women in shounen fight stories? Will she actually have an interesting character arc? Am I asking for far too much?

Saint Seiya as a property holds no nostalgic value for me. I've seen an episode of the original show and an episode of the Sanctuary OVAs and didn't find either particularly interesting. That's what I meant - that I'm not going into the show pre-disposed to liking it.

We all know the reason firehawk will be watching.

It should be interesting to see how they handle that because Saint Seiya has A LOT of 80's-style sexism baggage. At least they seem to be addressing, rather than ignoring, one of the most notorious instances of it in the original, namely, the extremely silly "Law of the Mask" plot point.

I guess overall it was just plain decent. I thought the PR from crunchyroll was misleading for the anime, it doesnt feel like an "epic space opera." When I think of space I think of actually being in space not in a desert with
sand whales
. Character designs felt a bit before my time so I couldnt really get into it. Most characters just looked odd or outdated oddly, noses look odd especially. Fortunately Maya does look decent as well as both captain and commander, and Sam seems compelling. OP was dull and lazy, heard better from FTIsland (Satisfaction) and there was like nothing really animated in it. The last three minutes were actually compelling but using acronyms without defining them made my head hurt.

Ill keep watching just to see how it develops.

First off, dat space battle was great. Tons of strategy and the interplay between both and dealing with that threat was great.

Second, the presentation and disjunctness of episode 20 was just plain awesome. It worked so good, tied it all together, and the leaps, skips, and cuts were done really well. I don't even know how they did it, but it all was so cohesive.

Wow, spring really does look terrible. Apollon, maybe Accell World.

I know some people want to see Medaka Box and Fate/Zero (Pt.2)...

Yay for another season of backlog!

WIll watch:

Medaka Box, Fate/Zero, Apollon, Accel World, Tsuritama, Hyouka, E7 AO, Upotte!

Why am I still watching Guilty Crown?

Why is anyone still watching Guilty Crown?

I haven't watched it quite yet. Might start tomorrow.

It's Aniplex USA's license. They've got a Twitter account and everything.

Aniplex got Nisemonagatari? I absolutely wont buy this!

At least Hix is watching the anime.

So what if he watches it in 16:9? It doesn't look that bad. As skinny as Utena is, she could use a bit of width. Poor thing.

No he isn't. I'd rather people not watch it at all instead of piss all over it.

He's not pissing all over the show >_
So what if he chooses to watch it in a particular way that works for him?

That's genius.

I see you've chosen to be the heel in animugaf community. You should watch it dubbed to add additional salt.

Ummm.....errr >_>
Guilty.

Cure Moonlight is back!

Another great episode,
Cologne is a boss, too bad he didn't return. :(

Cure Moonlight has a nice transformation, but Sunshine's is still easily the best.

Lots more character development for Yuri, it's nice to see her slowly opening up to the younger generation, while the Grandmother watches over them all, I really like the generational aspect in HeartCatch.

The episode looked really nice as well, the Heart Tree's light spreading through all the trees at the end was gorgeous, and the animation was good as well, even if they're saving the big fight for next episode.

Oh shit, this aired!? Another show I had forgotten about completely.

Crane Yuzuriha one of three main characters of Saint seiya: Lost canvas, one of the most powerful Silver Saints and a more capable fighter then the other two main male bronze saints (one them being the primary main character Pegasus tenma) , she gets her own character arc”s” about her past and goes through her own struggles, has her own goals and even gets her own spin off gaiden story in the manga.

when she first shows up she mops the floor with one main male characters twice

That artwork/style is pretty strange. Not sure how I feel about it really. Its kind of a lazy design.

Last time I watched this I never really caught what happened between Claus and Sofia. Isn't he like 14 or something?

It’s lazy how? This is anime dude where nearly everyone either looks like "that" bland highschool kid for japanses people to relate to or big eyed, big headed girl with baby features that come with different colour hair.

Yuzuriha actually looks unique by anime standards having her own look and even looking very different from her fellow cast members.

They just drew a bunch of random shit on her to make an "outfit". It looks sloppy to me.

Yeah, character design is pretty important. not just for the hnng, but the design should be engaging at least and not ridiculous looking. Shouldn't have a derpface, stupid proportions, ugly hair, gigantic gravity defying breasts, etc.

Ozma 1

Ok, I'm just going to guess that wasn't the real OP, haha.

The protagonist seemed like a badass until he opened his mouth... But, yeah. Masked guy, (tall) beautiful girl in peril, small guy with a huge mouth, technobabble... It's Matsumoto all right.

I liked how 4 minutes into the first episode we already learn what's an "Ozma" (maybe that info was in the pre-release material, but I wouldn't know). As for the rest... It's way too early to make any judgements, really. Some VAs seemed a bit off (the cook and the nurse come to mind), but the rest was ok. I also like the concept of a ship
that can dive in the desert and explore the underground.

Also, the Captain looks cool.

So let me get this straight.
So Fine wants to destroy the moon because if she does, everyone on Earth will speak the same language and thus there will be no more confusion?
Well that villain motivation is definitely.... new.

Anyway, good action. The last few episodes should be great.

Chris for best Symphogear confirmed.
Im wondering how no one thought it was odd that the interior shaft to the headquarters had that ancient colorful design, seemed like a major hint that someone had ulterior motives
Yes, you are getting the gist of it.
That's a pretty good summary. But you will find many fascinating and fabulous elements to add to that list, some of which will make ABSOLUTELY NO FUCKING SENSE.

Setting can be just as important as character design. witness Shaft backgrounds for example. Although I like those crazy simplistic shaft backgrounds.
Some people just watch Shinkai films for the nature art porn.
SHAFT's backgrounds are awful though.

Nisemonogatari 11 END

For fucks sake, those motherfuckers at SHAFT have struck yet again with their filthy BD selling ways. Oh well, at least
Shinobu and Senjougahara got an upgrade!
Hopefully Kizumono can help me forget just how dissapointing this series was as a whole. :(

Morita-san Special Silence - 01

Why did my 3 minutes of hnngazawa get replaced by something like Recorder to Randsell WHY!?

It looks like I can safely end my Nisemonagatari viewing experience with the toothbrush episode and watch nothing else of it. That's all I watched anyway. I somehow feel like I saw the best part. Except maybe the episodes with this Shinobu character.

To let you know it’s not random shit, most of it have purpose and are there for story purposes
-the scarf is her primary weapon and was giving to her by her mother
-tattoo of her clan, she related to both Aries saint and mu, and is also the same race of clothe repairs
-bandages are there cause her clan have the power to revive and upgrade clothes with their blood(she slits herself and uses her blood to fix clothes) just like mu from the original.

That's her armor?

Seriously?

yeah i know, lucky for you she rarly ever wears it.

she only pulled it once from what I seen and that rarly any fanservice in lost canvas

Just finished watching the X-Men anime and enjoyed it quite a bit (save for the stupid japanese school girl angle).

Any other good recent action anime you guys can recommend?

A Pretty Panda

fuckin' called it, man
I recently started watching Hajime No Ippo, about 12 episodes in so far. I saw there are 2 movies, when in the series should I watch these? I know there's a second season, do they take place during that break?
