PC version looking spicy.

On December 14th, all The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt PC players will receive a free update that adds various gameplay changes, new quest content, and new graphics features that take full advantage of the latest PCs and laptops.

Here's what to expect:

  • RTX Global Illumination (RTXGI) adds more immersive and realistic outdoor ray-traced lighting
  • Ray-traced ambient occlusion improves shading around objects occluding light
  • Ray-traced shadows improve the fidelity, clarity and visibility of shadows
  • Ray-traced reflections increase the accuracy and quality of reflections on bodies of water and other suitably reflective surfaces
On top of that, Ultra+ settings increase draw distances, foliage density, background character detail, asset quality, and more. Texture resolutions are increased and environments gain new geometric detail. The list goes on!

To accelerate your performance when all of these features are enabled and maxed out, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's next-gen update also introduces support for NVIDIA DLSS 3, enabling GeForce RTX 40 Series gamers to multiply performance. All other GeForce RTX gamers can accelerate their frame rates with NVIDIA DLSS 2. And everyone can reduce system latency with NVIDIA Reflex

I hope I can tick the new boxes and still keep it locked at 4k/60fps. I haven't gotten around to getting a new display because of time, money and difficulty with choices.

Started a new game in preparation on the Series X and the skybox is so weird. It makes the world seem cramped. I hope this is changed.
lol I always hated that with that game.

I didn't see all the changes listed so I'm not sure if that was corrected.

i can't wait to see how my 2080 handles the game. first thing i'll do will be turning on DLSS. i hope i can turn some raytracing on. not sure what settings i was running it at last time i played.

is the cross save thing just PC to console or can it be console to console thinking about playing this on the ps5 with my Xbox save

I am impressed by the writing and world building in this game, but it is just so boring to play.

The constant "detective vision" quests, the awkward movement, and the rather dull combat. I don't find it strong enough to carry the rest of the game.

And while I can say that about a lot of open-world rpgs, those games usually make up for it by giving me a larger role in the narrative. Here, the writing is awesome, and I get to make choices that can branch my narrative path, but not enough to give me a sense of ownership over the experience.

I did complete it a few years ago, but mostly in desperate hope to understand what the hype was about. I really do admire a lot about the game, but I think it's a slog.

That said, it probably would have helped if I had played the first two games. Maybe I'd be more invested.

DLSS2 , DLSS 3 and Nvidia Reflex (+FSR 2.1!). They're going all in. Hopefully with the help of DLSS, a lot of players will be able to push all 4 RT effects.

I honestly can't wait to play it again. I'm hyped AF.

I'm not overly excited because i replayed like 1/3 game like 6 months ago when i installed the hd texture pack so the improvements in the patch are extremely small for me.

I guess i'm gonna try the rtx thing, notice barely any difference and unistall after 30 min.

Also i love both dlc WAY more than the vanilla campaign, one has the best villain and the other the best location with fucking vampires.

If my previous experiences with such thorough implementation of RT are anything to go by, this won't be an "extremely small" improvement. Games like Cyberpunk or Dying Light 2 are transformed when RT global illumination is turned on.

HYPE.

Tried rtx in both games, always turned off after a while because they were extremely situational or just downright different but not better, so yeah, for me is a small upgrade, but i think we had this discussion already.

Good for all the people who cares about rtx i guess.

So I just reinstalled the game in preparation for the patch. After dealing with save game stuff I was able to launch a New Game + game using my close to 100% save game. The game looks amazing at Ultra 4K. Better than I remember (no mods). However, once you start playing it's immediately obvious it's a 2015 game, what a clunky gameplay!

Still, voice work and world building is just top notch. I started a quest to hunt for a Griffith and was sent to talk to a hunter in order to find it. If you select certain options in dialog it is discovered that the hunter is gay and was driven out of the village because he was romancing the lord's son. After they were caught the son hung himself, the lord fell into drinking and everything went to shit. It doesn't really have anything to do with the story but it's so cool to get to know about the world through seemingly superfluous conversations.

I hope I can deal with the gameplay, the world building in this game is truly amazing.

Yep, i would have loved a combat\movement revamp over rtx features or shitty content from the netflix serial.

We can only hope for witcher 4.
