I remember everyone said that the One X could not handle The Witcher 3 with 60 FPS, yet here we are.
Simply amazing. My One X is worth every penny.
The 4K mode\added textures ect.. has made it worth it for me

Have you experienced framedrops?
Are you referring to a PC version running at ultra settings at 4K?
It does indeed, looked really rough on my TV before the patch.
Can a pc with an AMD 580 do 4k at a solid 30fps ?
Lol .. U sound like a warrior fanboy enacting a disinformation campaign.I don't own an X. Just a hunch that it won't be completely stable, especially in Novigrad.
Lol .. U sound like a warrior fanboy enacting a disinformation campaign.
Sure thing.
Let's wait for DF.
Senua is being totally reasonable. Your reaction here is kinda out of line with his (very) fair assumption that known problem areas in the game would continue to tax the X's hardware.By lets wait for DF u mean you'll say something like its true then when u get called out for it admit u have no idea.. thats not waiting thats talking bs. And when it drops to 55 fps for 1 moment youll say you were right all along. Why are you even here .. its a thread for a patch for a conole u dont even own?!?
The pro version is 4k CB, all 2160p pixels are still being rendered. I also think you need to read up on how checkerboarding is accomplished, A figure like 1800p is not going to be checkerboarded to 4k, if they're rendering at 1800p rez, it will most likely be upscaled from 1800p to 2160p on your TV.I dont know,to me it does not look as sharp as gears 4 at 4k.
I think it might not be native 4k. What is the ps4 pro version?
The pro version is native 1920x2160p but using checker boarding to achieve 4k cb which is roughly takes the same horsepower to render 1440p.
My guess is the 1X is in the native 1600-1800p range maybe it using checker boarding to I dont know. But I dont think its native 4k.

Always a proponent of 60fps or at least unlocked framerates. I wanted unlocked modes in ACU, Alien Isolation, The resident evil remakes etc..., but most of these were never patched on PRO. I always called an unlocked mode on PRO as defintely possible at medium settings with say a resolution of 1080p, it may not be locked 60fps, but it should have been done...I remember everyone said that the One X could not handle The Witcher 3 with 60 FPS, yet here we are.
Simply amazing. My One X is worth every penny.
I don't think you should expect a locked 60fps...hell, even COD is not locked 60fps (without flaw), but a witcher 3 that's 60fps for quite a bit of the time, once they engage the right settings on consoles, should be much better to play minus it's stilted combat...By lets wait for DF u mean you'll say something like its true then when u get called out for it admit u have no idea.. thats not ”waiting" thats talking bs. Microsoft pays for a patch,.. xbox gets the goodies ... and this forum is full of salt lol
I paid for my xbox and xbox live for years and in return MS pays for game companies to make HDR and xbox one x optimisations. Pc games sell less and are rife with piracy and sell for less because of steam sales.. less money = less support.
So has anyone else had a problem where the game wont toggle into performance mode? Ive tried switching it in both the main menu and in game, but it always shows as running in 4k mode.
It should be noted that it seems there is a bug with switching from performance and 4k mode. I think pressing A on the option has helped actually switch it but sometimes its not at what its showing. WHen I loaded it, it was on 4k, but the high framerate gave it away. once I switched to performance and back to 4k it looked much sharper and fps was back to 30. fyi
It has been analysed by NX Gamer. His channel is just as good as digital foundry IMO when it comes to graphics/performance analysis.

Another performance comparison between the Pro and the X from VGTech can be seen here: https://youtu.be/SKLIicW4XUc
I'm impressed by how well the Xbox One X seems to hold a locked 30fps in the 4k mode. Even in areas where the Pro is choking, the X's framerate doesn't even budge. Now I'm hanging out to replay it on the X. The PS4 version was fine but this just looks so much better. I'm envious of anyone who is going to play through The Witcher 3 on their X for the first time.
HahahaH installed it yesterday perfect timing for my X

It's great XBONEX is getting that, maybe they're working on the PRO version as we speak..I must say though, I'm a bit disappointed in the PRO patch of this title, this should be 4k CB at max settings on PRO, so what's up with the blurry trees and lod with not much in the way of better graphical settings minus the rez boost?
As I said, this should be 4k native 30fps with max settings on PRO, farless 4k CB.... and there should be a 1080p unlocked mode at medium settings....I can already tell it won't be locked 60fps on consoles, but it should offer a very nice/fluid experience like TRDE did with it's unlocked mode...
What a load of moronic shit you constantly spew. The Pro is doing the best it can. It's just not in the same league as the X. If you can't understand the significant advantages the X has over the Pro in GPU, bandwidth and RAM then you have no place in technical discussions. As I said, this should be 4k native 30fps with max settings on PRO, farless 4k CB....
Well it wont be running at 60fps in many of the game areas. So that statment still holds true.I remember everyone said that the One X could not handle The Witcher 3 with 60 FPS, yet here we are.

the framerate in performance mode is flawless
NX gamer disagrees as does other footage. Drops to 30+ fps is far from flawless. It's pretty good in some areas overall, but some areas are still far from close to 60fps and 30fps lock could be better option as whole.

I saw that the patch was released before my work and I sadly didn't get a whole lot of time to really check it out, but it is truly outstanding now that I have had a chance to dive right into it.
Yes the XBONEX is stronger than the PRO, we knew that ages ago. Still the PRO version is not at optimum, I dont think it's a great patch. Those framedrops in the swamp should never happen, pro should have a performance mode too, it's foliage should not be so blurry and it needs HDR support...The pro version is already out. The Xbox One X is simply stronger than the Pro, and this game prove it.
You said 1600p or 1800p would be checkerboarded to 4k, it does not work like that....Saying that the Pro version is 1920 x 2160 is very misleading also, perhaps you're trying to diminish it, but it's not simply 1920 x 2160, the other pixel information is being rendered as well to create a 4k image, it's not upscaled.....On the flip, if the XBONEX is doing 2600 x 1600, the rest of the pixels are not rendered in any form, it's upscaled...I think it's important we give the right information in a tech thread.....The XBONEX defintely has the edge here, enjoy that, but don't try to misrepresent what's going on, that's a bit disingenuous at best...I need to read up lol, noticed I said 1600-1800p lol so please dont state my opinion incompletely so it suits your goal of portraying myself as not understanding checkerboarding.
As for my previous point about that the pro version is 1920x2160p native and uses checkerboarding to add in extra pixels to achieve a checkerboard 4k image is quoted from digital foundry.

Well, unhhh, it's not flawless...the framerate in performance mode is flawless
Played it a few hours ago, 4K gloriousness. Game is insanely beautiful. I'm in for a treat maaan

XBONEX is already pushing higher pixels, though dynamically and has a solid framerate in the 4k mode, I think that covers it's power gulf, but it's also clear that much much more work went into the XBONEX version too, so it's not just about power here, it's about optimizations too. You can enjoy the XBONEX version, I think it's pretty solid, I'm just saying the PRO version needs to be patched again.....Obviously to bring all the extras and optimizations the XBONEX patch has.....
Better foliage
Dynamic resolution
Performance Mode
HDR.....
are the upgrades which I expect, so the patch could be solid enough on PRO..

Well, unhhh, it's not flawless...
.....,but it holds very well when in combat which is when you need the best controller response. I always maintained that the game dropped to lower fps in the expansions, just that many sites did not get enough data samples from there. All in all, performance mode is still the way to play, but it's certainly not flawless....
