Would DC vs Capcom be able to live up to Marvel vs Capcom?

No Magneto no sale.

Eh? Eh?

Oh, we're doing rosters? Okay, let's do rosters.

DC, 26 slots, trying to limit myself to one hero & villain per franchise, and trying to go for a Marvel crossover oddball appeal. Ideally there would be multiple alternate skins per character whenever appropriate to get in other characters/franchises.

Superman
Big Barda
Mr. Mxyzptlk
Wonder Woman
Circe
Batman
Clayface
Captain Marvel (yes I know)
Mister Mind
Green Lantern
Larfleeze
The Flash
Gorilla Grodd
Aquaman
King Shark
Miss Martian
Mister Terrific
Red Tornado
Vigilante/Jonah Hex alt
Shining Knight
Dr. Fate
Etrigan
Adam Strange
Blue Beetle (modern, sorry Ted Kord)
Booster Gold
Captain Atom

Quoting myself because bottom of page'd.

I'd love to see a VS game with DC heroes in it just to see them finally done properly. Injustice had that MK problem where all the canned animations looked crappy and everyone moved slow. Superman should be 8-Way Airdashing and dash punching like ST Boxer.

Looks pretty good. Light on big-name villains, tho.

True that. I wanted to highlight some of the lesser repped characters (hence Larfleeze instead of Sinstro, for example), and I wasn't willing to sacrifice hero slots. Also, how many times do we have to fight Lex Luthor in an exoskeloton, or pretend that the Joker has any place in a 1 v 1 fighting game?

The Batman franchise in general has a ton of great characters (see the list further up thread - I agree you could do an entire fighting game with just Bat characters). But I was consciously reacting to the Batman saturation, so that left out a lot of the big names besides Joker.

I had started putting in alts, but that was going to take too long. I would think you'd have a Bizarro alt for Supes, though, and a Black Adam alt for the Captain.

I like Marvel more than DC (see avatar) -- so for me some points are loss.

However, I'd still totally buy it. I really liked Injustice.

Yeah, makes sense. Besides you specified Jaime, so I have a tough time finding issue :)

incredible game

Yep. Even if DC's movies haven't been as good as Marvel's recently, I have to believe that Superman and Batman are both still the two most iconic/recognizable comic book characters in America. News flash: Comic writers switch between DC and Marvel. Characters are as interesting as their writers. Ergo, DC & Marvel both have interesting characters. As someone who watches more cartoons than reads comics, I'd be down for Capcom vs. Justice League Unlimited or Capcom vs. Young Justice or Capcom vs. The Brave & the Bold.

Would be really incredible. I'd probably lean more towards JLU

No. Marvel meshes well with Capcom because in my experience (a surface level 'casual' experience) Marvel tends to have a sappy and romanticized angle when it comes to their characters' motives and actions, which jives well with the manga-esque Japanese characters of Capcom. To be blunt, Marvel characters act closer to manga characters than DC characters. i'm not saying it's a bad or a good thing, I'm just saying that's how it is. Especially when I look at something like the X-Men, it's as convoluted as any other comic book, but it seems convoluted in that 'flagship' manga way.

As a person that reads comics and manga, this post makes no sense to me.

It probably would, but this will never happen. Warnerbros owns DC, and they own Mortal Kombat, too. They'd never let their property go to their biggest competition.

If it's going to be another 2D fighter, I'd have no interest. I would like Capcom, specially Koba/Itsuno to make a game similar to Sengoku Basara using DC characters. Or they can scrap Western comics all together and give another crack at an All-Star 3D fighter.

they can certainly do games based on DC characters as good as Marvel ones and certainly better than what Netherrealms studio is doing

Depends on what he's getting into the game for.

In terms of single player and general bang for your buck, Injustice absolutely wrecks MvC in this aspect.

I've probably played marvel 3 for 2000+ hours at this point, so I'm happy with the bang for my buck.

Ummm... what?

Too bad that DC will stay with NetherRealms for a long time.

DC versus Capcom...
I can only imagine to see Asura use Red Lantern. lol

I didn't know TAS was animated in Japan. I miss those guys. It's funny, because the Brave and the Bold contrasted itself with the more "serious" TAS. But even TAS knew that it couldn't take itself seriously all the time - it could be comedic, even goofy. I can't imagine a Netherrealms game ever doing that well.

I'm sure a lot of other people would definitely feel otherwise, but I wouldn't mind a DC vs. Capcom. I've always been more interested in the Capcom side of MVC, and Marvel soured me on their crappy movie-centric roster anyway.
