Would you date an under-age (i.e. under 18) person?

Is this the same book you were researching when you started a thread asking for scenes from works of fiction where women get brutally beaten and scarred "for research."

Research in progress:

Are you saying that you wouldn't date a 25 year old man (two years younger than you)?
Are you serious?

I tend to date guys 1-3 years older. I'll be 28 in a couple of months, so 3 years is really pushing it for me, not for a creepiness factor or anything, when I do date men lower than a year, we're usually in very different places in our lives. Nothing against, them and I'm sure there are many exceptions, but allthe guys I've dated younger have had less life experiences.

Keep in mind I also teach/mentor undergrads, I could never fucking date undergrads.

............
That took a turn real fast.
I guess you could put some andherewego.gif or thisisgonnabegud.gif

14 OP? C'mon son

Back in the day it was quite common for older folks to date and marry young girls for some reason. My grandpa got with my grandma when she was barely 17 and he was 25. They're still together and doing quite well. Its a different age though and honestly teenagers are dumb as rocks dating wise (no offense to the teens here).

Hope you're not pursuing a young pup OP because I promise it will not end well

...I remember that thread. NOW I REMEMBER YOU. O boy.

And now I'm leaving this thread to avoid the oncoming nuclear bomb

Heel brother, I know we like to keep it fun and playful but I'm afraid "fun and playful" may attract an unsavory crowd. The kind of folks who would ask for pics of young people.

Holy shit. He actually solicited pics of a 12 year old.

Holy shit! That was a joke!! I am serious. Everybody was making jokes!!

If a dumb-ass like me was pursuing a young pup you would hear it on the news, trust me

EDIT:

Thank you everyone for the intelligent discussion we had until page 10.

What is up with some of the threads lately here at GAF? If you're dating someone still in high school and you're out of high school then you have some issues.

When I was 23 I was chatting with a girl at a big LAN party about Everquest. She was cute, we were clearly into each other. She mentions something about a paper due on Monday, asked which class (this LAN was at the University I'd graduated from just a few years before).

"senior english" she says.

"Senior... Wait, how old are you?"

"...seventeen." She squints. "you?"

"... Twenty three." Awkward pause as we stared at each other blankly. "Welp, nice to meet you, enjoy the party!"

"Yep, you too!" And we both returned to our computers.

Ironically four years later I met another young lady who was just finishing nursing school, also six years younger than me. We've now been married for almost 9 years. Same age difference, but those four years are a complete game changer.

I was asking about a double standard where female characters don't get their faces as badly ruined as the males. Beauty is never tarnished trope and all that.

We've reached the point where your best course of action would be to just exit the thread forever and hope that eventually everyone will forget about it.

What does this mean? You'd leave a trail of bodies? Is what what you mean? What are you saying? Jesus fucking Christ

When I was 20, I went out with a 16yr old briefly one summer. Was fine. I'm from the UK though, where the age of consent is 16.

I wouldn't these days though as I'm 28, the age gap would be too big. Can't see having too much in common.

Say you are 20-something adult and one day you meet this young teen at say a coffee shop. Normally we mistakenly perceive the current teen generation as #YOLOSWAG and nothing else. Bunch of dumb airheads who will get nowhere in life. But this one is different, they are one of those rare wise-beyond-their-years or early matured types. The reasons for this could be several, perhaps they were required to become responsible or the man/head of the house at an early age, or they are living by themselves in a paying guest arrangement and are here in the city for higher studies but regardless they might as well be a tiny adult.

You obviously hit it off and the boy/girl wants to meet you again except you learn that they are within the 14-18 age bracket. Do you run off screaming immediately or would you consider dating this person?

The bolded should make you question this question. Saying that, 18 is usually the legal age for dating older people in most countries/states. Personally I like my love interest to be a fully grown past puberty, mentally matured adult...and when I say mentally matured I don't mean "acts older" I mean their brain is physically fully matured and not in that weird mental limbo that teens have to go through.

It means you would hear about a 16 year old beating my ass for hitting on her

Point taken. Bu biologically speaking, the brain would be "fully grown" before 18 correct? Not that it changes the morality.

Haha, nice, man. A couple years ago I went to an all-ages show, and was talking to this super cute guy for awhile between DJs, and we were getting along pretty well, flirting a bit, etc, and then the topic of school comes up, and he asks what year I'm in, and this convo happens:

Him: So what year are you?
Me: I'm a junior
Him: Me too! At what school?
Me: <University>, what about you?
Him: I go to <high school>!

Aaaaaand I was just like "welp, you're cute, okay, enjoy the show, cya, bye!" and went and got a drink and didn't go back to that spot where he was.

When I was younger in my 20s I did. But now that I'm approaching geriatric level gamer status I only fantasize about the idea while watching mentally stimulating anime, like strike witches.
