Its cool how they brought back Spike's "Giant Killer" gimmick from ECW...WWE should have booked Rey how ECW/TNA booked spike.

TNA = Boked by people with a wrestling background
WWE as a whole = Booked by Steph's little army of suck ups and yes-men. None of which have a background in the business

TNA's booking is some of the most uninteresting shit in the world. Don't pat them on the back just because they throw shit on the wall and some of it turns out okay sometimes.

Compared to WWE.. it's masterpiece theatre.

At the very least TNA seems to have some long term booking goals in mind. Granted some times they tend to be a little too "old school" in their approach.

There was reportedly a "widespread rumor" within the wrestling indusry last week that current WWE Vice President of Talent Relations John "Johnny Ace" Laurinaitis was going to be fired. One rumor that blew up within WWE was that Barry Windham was going to be hired to replace Laurinaitis. Although strong sources within WWE are indicating now that those rumors were never true, those same sources have stated that the confidence Vince and Stephanie McMahon once had in Laurinaitis has been noticably shaken. Many WWE wrestlers, especially the veterans, do not respect Laurinaitis at all and actually mock him frequently behind his back. The main criticism on Laurinaitis within WWE was that he doesn't have a natural eye for talent at all. As of now, there doesn't appear to be any candidates currently on WWE's staff being considered as front-runners to replace Laurinaitis if he were to be removed from his current position. While the rumor of Windam taking over the position may have been untrue, WWE officials have expressed interest in bringing him in as an agent. The feeling internally right now in WWE is that if a decision was made to remove Laurinaitis, Jim Ross would likely be asked to step in and serve as V.P. of Talent Relations for now (a title he held before Laurinaitis) and help train a replacement. It should be noted that Shane McMahon and Triple H are being considered as the "top two" heirs to the position, although both are still considered to be a few years away from being taken seriously for taking the role.

Interesting.. I like both Windham and JR(did an amazing job in the past) for the position as both are old-school guys and they would look for talent who could actually *gasp* wrestle. I'm up in the air about Shane, and I say HELL NO to Triple H.

Hebner was the long term booking. It's a storyline that's been going on for MONTHS. Means to an end. I'm going to guess you're fairly new to the product so some of the ongoing storylines aren't going to make much sense.

And during that they had a match to help establish Eric Young even more. The guy's a fan favorite... gotta get hom out there.

Long term masterpiece booking like LAX winning the titles two weeks after the last PPV when they should have won it (though I sort of let this slide because I think they only lost at the PPV because the fire messed things up so they wanted the faces to win), Samoa Joe losing the belt to Senshi one week after a PPV and not giving a shit about getting it back even though his whole character was built around the belt for a year, Jackie Gayda dicking around with Jarrett's faction for months for no reason, the whole Hebner/Zybysko/Slick feud that makes no sense at all, Team Canada getting disbanded but not doing anything anyway, Christian/Shelley/Joe/ screwing Sting but they don't feud with each other, etc.

This doesn't even consider the fact that even though it's episodic TV, there is rarely ever a reason to want to watch again the next week. It's almost like boring infomercial TV. They're lucky they've got some of the best independent talent in North America keeping them interesting despite all of the odds against them.

Everyone bitches about TNA's booking plans every other week when spoilers are revealed. Don't hype it up just because you want TNA to succeed. They never will until the shitty booking stops.

I recognized that Hebner was part of a long-term storyline. But honestly, do you think a storyline centering around Earl Hebner is going somewhere? I don't see this as being the next great storyline of wrestling. But hey, you can always give me the highlights of this captivating storyline.

I realize they want to put Eric Young out there, but why against ANOTHER fan favourite? and why have Hebner completely undercut the match, eliminating any momentum Young gained?

Sure TNA might have wrestling minds booking it, but their booking isn't much better than WWE on the whole. The in-ring product is better, but the booking should be light years better with only one real ego on the roster to deal with. TNA just seems to be running in mud at times, meaning that you can miss the show for 2 or 3 weeks and pretty much nothing has changed.

The thing with TNA is that angles, feuds, and storylines are often times conceived at storylines rather than culminated as with WWE most of the time. Impact is like one big trailer for the PPV where everything actually goes down.

Wow.... quite the little rant you have going there. Apparantly your high from the house show has worn off.
How does the Hebner/Zybysko thing make no sense? It's going to come out that Larry and Hebner were in on it with Jarrett to get the title back on him. It's pretty easy to follow.

Even with it's flaws it's still better than WWE in my eyes.

As for Jackie Gayda... couldn't really do much with her after she became pregnant. BTW, there was a reason she was stuck with Jarretts group. Blackmail.... but her pregnancy prevented that storyline from working itself out.

TNA runs into the same problem that ECW does... hour time slot.

Yes, it will be going somewhere within the next couple of weeks leading into No Surrender which is still 3 weeks away.
It's real simple...
Larry Z turned his back on Jarrett screwing Raven out of the title in Canada. Never got his rematch.
Larry Z turned his back on Jarrett screwing Rhino out of the title. NEver granted a rematch.
Jim Cornette debuted as the new management face. Put Larry on probabtion for his "lax management"
Larry Z and Hebner together were in cahoots to screw Christian out of the title and allow Jarrett to win the Kin gof the Mountain match.
Cornette fires Hebner for his role.
Hebner interferes in a match screaing to high heavens claiming that if he's going down, he's taking Larry with him
There's your highlights, you shuld be able to keep up now.

On the other hand, I think it's kind of stupid to NOT have Joe in the plans for the title match. THAT is who the fans want to see in that slot... not Sting. He should be feuding with Christian in the 2nd to last match of the night.

Huh. Pretty good promo. Sting hit just the right note there.

And it was almost ruined by Jarrett's entrance video. "Planet Jarett"? Has Stasiak taught you NOTHING?

EDIT: Well that was....something. I mean, it wasn't Thunder 2000 bad or anything, but I don't see where the posts saying "all we have to look forward to is Impact" are coming from. I would say that was about the same level of quality as recent RAWs.

So the main event for No Surrender is set. Joe vs Jarrett with "fans" surrounding the ring.

This could be the catalyst to get Joe in the title match at BFG. I could fully accept a triple threat wth Joe pinning Jarrett.

That was seriously the worst episode of Impact yet. Wow its amazing how segments with Jarrett in them always seem to suck.

And when does TNA's contract with Universal Studios runs out? B/C they HAVE to get out of the Impact Zone. Those fans really suck...

Well..they leave for Detroit for the BFG PPV... but they go right back to the Impact zone for tapings the next night. TNA definetly needs a change of venue though. Even if they went back to Nashville for a few sets fo tapings.

I was high on the action, not the booking. We've all bitched all the time about TNA's booking, especially when spoilers come out. You're a part of that crowd too. Don't suddenly try to start mentally polishing TNA's shit just because Bound of Glory is coming to you. :) We say it all the time with TNA's PPVs... they're always worth the money and they consistently deliver, but it's all because of the wrestling, not their awful storytelling.

As for Joe, Keller wrote in the latest Torch that he's not in a real feud or chasing the belt because of politics. Why the **** are there backstage politics on a show that gets a 0.7 rating and comes on at 11pm? But I guess Jarrett, Sting and D'Amore need to hold their spots for themselves and their buddies considering that a flabby Samoan dude can outwork all of them to the point of embarrassment.

TNA needs to get their ass to the Hammerstein or ECW arena for their weekly tapings. Philly was hot for the house show they held there, and god only knows how awesome TNA would be weekly in Hammerstein. ECW's rarely going there... why not capitalize on their mistake?

I'm actually watching Smackdown for once...... and wishing that I wasn't. I'm subjecting myself to The Jiz...er Miz vs Tatanka.

WHY THE **** WAS TATANKA BROUGHT BACK? He sucked the first time they had him.... not much has changed.

Instead of "Mr. Kennedy" on the belt, it should say "Championship."

That way it would read:

U.S Championship

Championship
:lol

To be honest, I like the idea of HHH being in charge of talent. He knows his stuff and is as studious about wrestling as he's made out to be on-screen from what I've read. He'd be good at booking as well I'm sure.

I can only pray that Vince somehow, someday, gives his role in the company over to Shane, although he's more likely to give it to Steph probably :(

COME ON SNOWGLOBERS!!

The novelty of King Booker is starting to wear off which is making it hard to care about SD once again. Hopefully they DO send Cena there so I can forget it existed all together. They should send Cena AND Umaga to SD and send Benoit and Matt Hardy to Raw. Edge/Benoit title feud FTW!

"The theme for this October’s WWE 24/7 OnDemand will be "WrestleVania", the creepiest/scariest/strangest events in wrestling history. The show will be hosted by Candice Michelle."

WRESTLEVANIA would be the best videogame ever. Clothesline Death and piledrive Dracula!

It's about as close as you can get to your idea. The ghoulish Taker who shot bats and hit you with a tombstone. Yokozuna who'd bleed hams.....

I keep thinking Benoit will go to ECW when he returns. Is that wrong? Also isn't Matt Hady supposed to be reuniting with Jeff Hardy sooner or later anyway? Maybe the plan is for Cena to be replaced by Matt Hardy, then HHH will step back in to become the top babyface on RAW.

yeah, but no. I mean like if you took Symphony of the Night, but instead of having whips and shit and playing as vampires/vampire killers, you could pick from wrestlers as your characters and have all kinds of crazy moves. Brock Lesnar doing the F5 on Wargs at the beginning of the castle, etc.

I'd rather watch an infomercial than watch Smackdown
I'd rather watch the weather channel than watch RAW
I'd rather watch QVC than watch ECW
I'd rather watch play Dead Rising than watch TNA <---that’s a nice one, i still enjoy it

Confirmed.

I watch a lot of elitist puroresu and indie shit now. It's just better to hit up Youtube or Google Video and watch some random Japanese video clips for two hours than to sit through a shitty Raw.

I dont know about searching for clips (as I am stuck on a slow as hell connection) but you should look out for

- Mitsuharu Misawa vs. Kenta Kobashi from March 1, 2003
- Kenta Kobashi vs. Jun Akiyama from 10 July, 2004

acutally just look for any matches with Jun Akiyama or Kenta Kobashi them :D

Have you ever seen the Quarter Mania 1999-2001 quarter infomercial? I could watch that one 24/7. The guy's voice is addicting.

Smackdown's slide continues as the CW launch approaches....
SmackDown Gets Record Low Rating, ECW & More
Date Added: September 03, 2006
Story By: Will Hengelbrok

Jeff Hardy's profile page has now been added onto the RAW brand's roster on WWE.com.

Several readers sent word that the ECW house shows scheduled for 9/16 in Jamestown, NY and 9/17 in Niagara Falls, NY are now listed as combined Smackdown/ECW events with King Booker, Lashley, Sabu, Test, Batista, Finlay, Rob Van Dam, Hardcore Holly, Matt Hardy, Mr. Kennedy, Francine, Kelly Kelly, Kristal, Jillian Hall, Paul London, Brian Kendrick, KC James, Idol Stevens, CM Punk, and Stevie Richards listed.

According to TVRatingsUSA.com, last night's edition of WWE SmackDown! on UPN took record low ratings last night in the fast nationals. They are reporting that UPN took a 1.9/3 rating with a 1.0 18-49 demographic rating. That is considerably down from last week's 2.2/4 and the week before's 2.6/5. This is definitely due to some markets not airing the show. Last night was the final night that UPN will air the show as next week MyNetwork TV takes over most UPN networks.

Kenta Kobashi, KENTA, Naomichi Marufuji, Jun Akiyama, Akira Taue, Misawa Mitsuharu.

Through those names, you'll find alot of fun singles, tag, and even 6 man tag matches in NOAH. I also like a lot of undercard NOAH guys as well. Kenta Kobashi vs. Kensuke Sasaki from the July 05 Dome Show is wicked if you want to see two huge guys beat the shit out of each other for the enjoyment of all. KENTA vs. Marufuji matches are awesome stuff all around, plus their old tag matches rock the house. Taue is the best "giant" on the planet, barnone. No one has topped his work, or will ever top his work for a long time to come. Truly the most underrated big man in wrestling.

Edit: I'll start you off before I head off to work:

Takeshi Rikio and Takeshi Morishima vs. KENTA and Naomichi Marufuji --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJfBDU2Rq9A

Yuji Nagata vs. Akira Taue --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIJY8IoU82Q

Shinya Hashimoto vs. Nobuhiko Takada (Part 1 of 3, click the links to the rest after each one plays) --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcnCf4VCkYc <--- this isn't NOAH, but this is from 1996 NJPW. When Hashimoto RULED the wrestling world. No one main evented in the 90s and put more asses in the seats worldwide than Hash. This match is NUCLEAR.

Kenta Kobashi vs. Kensuke Sasaki --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5mkV6dmjp4 <--- NOAH's advance on the Tokyo Dome in 2005. Stiff as hell match up. Just awesome to see.

Naomichi Marufuji vs. Akira Taue --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWy3xO5aDrQ <--- Another fun, great Taue match up.

Kenta Kobashi vs. Dr. Death Steve Williams (1993) --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AsjhRd9JHU <--- MUST SEE. Old AJPW. Sick match. Showed how AWESOME Williams was.

KENTA vs. Naomichi Marufuji --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7KXrfjfyNA

Have fun.
