WWDC10 Thread of iPhones and iProducts galore

Compared to my been dropped 100 times 1st Gen.... this thing is ferocious.

Blazing fast. Digging the multitasking.

Although battery has drained pretty quick for whatever reason.

i hope the people going early/camping out arent walkins

Ok, reporting again because I feel it is my duty. I think the orange blob problem may be more widespread than people think. I think it is associated with heat. After heavy use loading my phone with music and the initial restore I saw the blobs. After the reset, charge, cool, no blobs. I put two and two together, got on a 20 minute call then heavy use of the phone and I was able to get very faint blobs back. A few minutes later, gone again. Take what you will. Maybe people that don't see it haven't used the phone enough, and probably impossible to tell on one straight from the box.

I need to jailbreak my iOS4 3G so I can sell it in able to afford an iPhone 4. I've never jailbroken an iPhone before, and I need some help/advice/whatever. PLEASEEEEEE HALP.

I'm picking up my iphone and a microsim before work tomorrow, question is do I need to bring my laptop with me with my itunes? Or can I just use work pc, install a fresh itunes with nothing in it and activate it through there?

just wondering how much of a link is created between itunes used to activate a device and the device itself - if they become intrinsically linked, I'll bring my real itunes along with me.

also do you think I need to bring ID if Im just picking up my reserved iphone from an apple store? I'm just going for the sim-free option

If reports are coming that some 3G(S) users are experiencing the same after iOS 4, what does that tell you?
That doesn't mean it's not hardware related. Something is clearly different when you touch the iPhone even if it is the 3GS. So I'm curious what triggers it.

Also for anyone interested there must be at least 50 to 70 people at Valley Fair already.

You can activate the phone from any iTunes, I believe. If you activate at an Apple store, they would just hook up to theirs to activate.

Meaning, you could activate with one (work) and bring it to another (home) and sync just fine.

whenever you initially activate, it doesn't sync to the computer it's plugged up to. you have to disconnect and reconnect to perform syncing.

cool, just wondered about the whole apple account thing, but you're right they can activate it in store just fine.

not long now!

I’m pretty sure 3G and 3GS hardware don’t change when people upgrade to OS 4. This is the point you seem to be missing. Didn’t happen before in OS 3 = software bug.

Duh but there is clearly a state change when you touch it which is hardware related. Just because the 3GS has it doesn't mean it is not hardware related. I'm not saying software isn't involved but it doesn't even make you curious what changes when you touch it? Like maybe you do reduce signal quality by holding it and the bug exposes that. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Of course it was triggered through something physical/hardware but that’s irrelevant to what I was stating, my god. Software controls the hardware.

The point I'm making is it's hardware triggered not software. There is a difference and just because we didn't see it before doesn't mean it didn't exist. Physically touching the phone and not just pressing a button shows a change in signal. Regardless if the signal level is accurate or not it exposes something we did not know about the hardware before.

how much of an improvement from the 3g is the 4 in terms of battery. I can kill my battery in a good 8 hours sometimes on my 3g.

How exactly do you know that it existed before if we didn’t see it in OS 3?

I could give two shits about what’s triggering it. I care about the source of it and if it can be fixed through software. That was the whole point of my post.

Is anyone going to check out an Apple Store tomorrow solely to purchase accessories, like a Bumper?
Yeah I need a bumper and a dock.

I can't believe we've actually got to a point where Apple can charge people $30 for a fucking rubber band.

So what is it going to be like tomorrow then? Is there multiple lines? Like 1 for iPhone's and another for everything else?

Well like you said, the hardware hasn't changed but clearly there is a fairly consistent behavior exposed in ios4 which is likely a bug. But the fact that there is a consistant behavior exposed through software means that there was always something there. What that is or to what extent doesn't matter but there is something exposed that we didn't know before.

Okay guys so this is similar to what I'm talking about for my iPhone 4 screen(once again these aren't my pictures)
Pic 1
Pic 2

Idk if this is dust or not, should I be worried about this?

But it's a rubber band with metal buttons!

Ah, they got me with this one too. I'm going to have to grab one tomorrow as well. And then in 2 months when I'm not so anal about my new device I can ditch it just like I did with my 3G...

third party might release a better looking bumper(if that's possible lol) for a cheaper price

30 bucks for like... 20% of a case is a lot

No, it doesn’t and I don’t see how anyone can make this judgement given how much hardware is optimally tuned through software. The scenarios that one could come up through software that could initiate other seemingly hardware related errors are vast.

I'm probably #100 in line...at midnight.

Fucking fuck! Damn you white iPhone for not allowing me to pre-order! I thought you and I would be together this day, white iPhone...

Fuck!

wut, are you expecting to get white in line?

God, apple is taunting me with 4.0 on my 3G. It's rubs like absolute shit. My white iPhone 4 can't come soon enough : /
Night and day. Night and day, seriously.

I didn't think going from one iPhone to another, regardless of the age, would be this dramatic.

He's at valley fair in line for the iPhone. He always comes for every product release to line up and hang out.
Wow, he's camping out overnight? That's hardcore.

100 people already in line at midnight? Jesus, this one is going to be ugly...

I think the bumpers are kinda rad looking even if they are over-priced. That they would elevate the glass of the iPhone off whatever surface is nice, and it's not a conventional case, which I really, really like. iPhone 4 fucking owns. My Mom and Dad are hearing impaired and use blackberries, but once they see Face Time I'm sure they'll convert. Life-changing shit, etc.

I didn't pre order because I thought there would be white ones available on launch day before we found out there wasn't.

It screwed me!
