Both Mac and PC, but the way they worded it seems like it is more apparent on the PC platform.

Yeah the ad is clearly fake I was talking about the actual image of the white iPhone itself. That's been around for awhile.

Also, highlighting the iphone HD by showing you the back. Genius.

(I think apple tend to show the front of their devices in advertising, right? And the side to show how thin. Back largely reserved for gallery shots.)
 
An even more subtle indication that it's fake is that the smarter, faster better line doesn't have a period (.) at the end of the sentence. Apple always punctuates.

And they properly capitalize.

Also, the pastel interlocking lines evoke old ms office logos. Not apple-like at all.

Anyway, the fake ads are just part of the fun at this point.
 
Also notice the lack of a trademark logo.
EDIT: I take that back. It doesn't show in Apple's ads usually. My bad.

But I will join the camp that it is fake for the background and that it shows only the back of the device and not multiple angles.
 
Come on guys, you could do better than that. The background? It would fit into the Apple frontage just fine. Showing the back? Makes sense since the front looks almost exactly the same.

Only thing that proves it's fake is the colors in the corner, since they're using the fan-made render..

That background is like the worst of the worst patterns ever made. Apple wouldn't ever do it.

Find me any marketing that Apple has done that shows only the back of an iPhone, iPod, or iPad, apart from the 360 degree view pages. It makes no sense to show that. No one cares about it. Looking through the iPod touch page, every single image shows bright, beautiful colors from the screen on the front.

It could be released next week quietly, but come on. It doesn't need an announcement, and there isn't a single angle where it would make sense at a developer's conference.

Sentry, I usually like what you've gotta say, but I think you're on crack with this post. :lol

There is a certain quality Apple holds its designers too, and that is nowhere near it. If Apple decides to use Myriad Pro Black on anything, I'll take a 2 month ban.

Today my upgrade date is today

WIN. Juice is getting day 1 iPhones two years in a row.

Do you guys only have 2 year subscription contracts in the US? Sorry for my ignorance but here in Denmark we only have 6 months subscriptions for private contracts.

i am semi positive you could just cut your regular sim card to become microsim sized

2 Years is the pretty standard one around here in the US. You can leave early if you pay a fee, which I refuse to do.

I believe you can get 1 year contracts, too. But the majority of Americans are suckered into 2 years.

Yep, it's changed for pretty much everyone. My date was November 20 and my wife's was in July. As of today we're both eligible now. They didn't do this last year when the 3GS came out so...you have to wonder what the deal is, if that means the new phone will go on sale sooner than some of the speculated end of month dates.

They actually did sort of do this when the 3GS came up; folks who previously had 7/1/09-9/30/09 upgrade dates were generally pushed up to have 3GS discount eligibility. (Sauce: http://www.businessweek.com/the_thr...ds_to_critics_eases_iphone_upgrade_rules.html )

I'm hoping for some surprises. Apple really hasn't done anything surprising since the the original iPhone. Any rumors of more functionality for OS4 apart from iChat?
