WELL WELL WELL PITFALL

4.0 GM require 9.2 iTune lol... don't forget to get that BEFORE installing 4.0 GM (even though it's ok if you install it afterwards also)

LOL this pretty much means
you windows people who wanna run 4.0 GM, well you can't =( (well you can but you can't sync)

How do I install this :lol I have the 9.2 iTunes beta already installed, but trying to launch the iOS install does NOTHING :(

edit: Fixed it :D Had to alt-click the Restore option in iTunes and then select the .ipsw file for those who were wondering.

Any of the Canadian carrier's made any announcements yet? I'm hoping Sasktel will get the iPhone when it launches, but if they don't I guess I'll just have to stick with Roger's.

nothing interesting. Telus just said “hey, we’ll have it”

I want solid upgrade info for those on iPhone 3G launch contracts.

whoa whoa whoa, what now?

I'm already installing 4.0GM... no iPhone for me until iTunes 9.2 is out?

Wouldn't that require SaskTel to convert its province-wide CDMA network to GSM?
Yeah... enjoy paying for that out of your taxes, dude. I certainly don't miss Saskatchewan for paying for the some Crown executive's boondoggle.

... are you a developer? any chance you could hook me up? I'd highly appreciate a PM if yes.

are you a windows user?
if so ... don't even bother for now, because 9.2 windows isn't coming out under ADC

mescalineeyes said:
nope, not a windows user.

I wonder if they check with your phone's ID to see if it's registered with one of the dev's account... since it still seem to be under NDA (had to sign a new one before download)

I am not, but I do have access to a developer account from someone in my family. Otherwise I'd hook you up, sorry.

Because there is no quantifiable "lead" beyond what anyone says, so Steve says it and Mozilla says it, and Google says it and no one is 'lying.'

How is running an HTML 5 test with the browser not quantifiable? That's like saying running the DVD benchmark scores for testing BD/DVD players isn't quantifiable ... or the 3Dmark test for a PC ... etc.

It isn't necessarily the only aspect, but it's certainly a quantifiable part.

I noticed that too, but when I close a tab and try to undo that, it opens up the closed tab twice - strange.

Edit: Worked it out. Was Glimse's fault! Uses the cmd+z option aswell to undo close tab. So under Safari 5 the browser will recognize this command twice and therefore open it twice.

Hmm good point. Looking into there is a rumour that Apple would make a CDMA version of the phone for Verizon and Sasktel would just get the same model. But that announcement probably would have happened today if such a thing were true. I might as well just stick with Roger's anyways, not having cell signal in a couple classrooms probably isn't the worst thing in the world.

And your right, Sasktel is pretty lame. Especially since they refused to give me a job this summer.

i can already think of the first big extension for Safari -

a widget that appears when you hover your cursor over the content that Safari Reader rips to, wait for it, activate Safari Reader. brilliant!

also - Apple better bring Reader to iOS4. this screams 'made for iphone'

'Made for iPad', as well.

yeah, but my point is that other apps can use the camera and it ends up being available to you all day for free…

apple had to make the facetime app compatible with their phone app. but 3rd party IM apps can always work the way you want with the camera.

with the added benefit of the other person not needing a second iPhone 4 to get the video going (presumably)

well that could be nice than, i just liked the idea of just needing an wifi connection and being able to see ur fam and friends
but what you said could work as well, skype could release an update for its app supporting videochat, but look at how long it took them to use 3G calls and we still dont have it

Yeah, they refused to hire me back in '04. I was actually told they were looking for a Native to fill the position because of their required First Nation hiring quota as mandated by the province at the time. And now I'm in BC. Way to promote the diaspora of Saskatchewan's 20-something work force, fellas!

Just read about and watched the apple video, I am impressed in it all, better screen, bigger battery, the A4 chip (was kind of given that it was coming to the iphone devices) and os4, a vast improvement.

Of course apple makes it sound like they were the first people ever to make mobile video phonecalls lol, but it's nice to finally have that AND a flash on the device.

My 2g touch is suddenly looking much older and slower to me now.

I installed the 3.0GM with no trouble, so I guess I'll keep an eye out for 4.0. I tried out beta 1 but unsurprisingly it wasn't much fun at that point, but I miss the folders :(

wow. Safari Reader also prints out content just as it's displayed, stripped of everything but content. this almost removes all reasons for me to use Times Reader.

Extensions documentation: http://developer.apple.com/safari/l...ExtensionGuide/Introduction/Introduction.html

Basically what Chrome extensions are capable of.

Safari extensions provide a way for developers to add features to the Safari browser. You can add custom buttons to the Safari toolbar, create bars of your own, add contextual menu items, display content, and inject scripts and stylesheets into webpages. This lets your extension behave in a wide variety of ways.

You write Safari extensions using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with support for HTML5 and CSS3. A JavaScript API for extensions allows you to interact with the browser and web content in ways that scripts normally can’t.

yay, everything downloaded, gives me plenty to do later tonight and tomorrow getting updates ready for my apps and messing around with GameCenter and other iOS 4 things on my iPod Touch :D

Safari 5 still slower then chrome, i have 27 websites open at once and it's having trouble loading them all. Chrome does it instantly
Wonder what kind of voodoo Google is doing to get that much more performance when both are using Webkit.

If only this thing would come to Sprint. :( :lol

I love the design of this phone, probably the best looking one I've seen. Ditching my 20% discount on Sprint is just not possible, though.

20% isn't the only discount you're getting. AT&T has separate iphone plans that are more expensive than their regular data plans. Also sprint would be cheaper even if comparing to regular AT&T data plans. So you're really saving 3 ways.

I don't like the new address bar. Is there a way to change it so it only shows sites starting with the letter you enter, instead of sites that contain that letter? It's annoying.

is there any way for me to change my unlimited data plan to the 200mb plan when I buy this? or is that something i have to do when my actual contract expires?
