WWE Raw Ratings: Viewership Hits Record Low

3 Hours
Brawk Vacation

Braun just inflicted with injury
Book everyone else like garbage
Lose Jericho
Lose Owens

Not surprised at all my boys.

I'd bet my next paycheck that if you put pictures of Zayn, Nakamura, and Orton in front of 100 actual casual fans, Orton would lap both guys in recognition.

If nothing else, you're forgetting about the RKO meme.

Orton is way more of a bankable, known quantity than Sami zayn or even Nakamura right now. Much like Cena or even a guy like Big Show, he's a guy who is seasoned, who you can send out to do the talk show circuit, who can be counted on to headline cards or house shows. It's no secret why they keep him around and at the position he's in, even if to hardcore fans he's "Blandy Boreton".

I'm just going by crowd reaction. You're right--if you're talking casual fans who don't attend shows, you're probably right because of the whole "RKO out of nowhere" fad that happened a year or two back.

I think WWE should have an Attitude Era Raw annually. Like once a year.

Will it include all the sexism and racism. Will the four horsewomen have bra and panties matches while King talks about puppies. Will HHH come out and tell the new day you people aren't world championship material. They can also put nak and asuka in some massage parlor segment with vince.

There is a man who could turn it all around, if they let him be Brian Pillman, unfortunately, WWE has invested huge amounts of resources in the wrong people because they are very stupid.

The core reason for them been profitable is their TV deal. That is helping them a lot right now, and will continue to help the out until 2019 when the deal will need to be negotiated.

They are losing money of social media (Youtube, Twitter), which may in turn be hurting ratings, as anything of worth is available as a 3 minutes clip a few hours after airing live. They are investing money into pointless WWE Network shows (extra PPVs, reality shows, and animation, that are not helping the subscriber number rise).

The main source of income will always be TV, and they are not going to get such a nice contract if their rating continues to drop and/or stagnates for the next 2 years. There IS a financial incentive to change their ways, and the deadline is 2 year away.

http://corporate.wwe.com/news/company-news/2017/05-04-2017

WWE Network subscriptions have risen 16 percent over the prior year. The part of the reason they have put a lot of effort into the Network is so they aren't so dependent on TV deals. Putting on specials and "pointless" shows is meant to garner more interest into the Network and drive revenue.

The financial incentive comes when a large amount ofpeople stop consuming their product. The TV deal would be a consequence of people not consuming the product.

If anything else, they need to cut the time down back to two hours. The three hours is becoming too much of a hassle if a good some is being seen as "Filler Time"

WWE is obsessed with pissing off their crowds. I will never understand why they keep making people job in their hometowns.

Especially this fucking match: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-historic-wwe-hell-in-a-cell-match-fell-short

This always struck me as a missed opportunity for Banks, Charlotte, and the company. Having the women close the show should have been a no-brainer. Not only was it the only feud that warranted the HiaC stipulation, it was a potential huge star making moment for Charlotte and Banks. In a landscape where representation is a big hot button topic, the WWE of all places coming out and saying "Our women are our top stars" could have grab people's attention.

They should have made the decision to have them on last immediately after making the match and then had Banks and Charlotte all over social media and news circuits talking about it. It should have been a huge fucking deal for the company. It also should have been the only HiaC match on the show - none of that "triple main event" bullshit - to really drive home what an important moment this was for the company. Also, Banks should have gone over, so that they could get that visual of the first women's main event ending with fans losing their minds and cheering like crazy.

I'm not saying it would have driven buyrates through the roof or nabbed them a million+ network subs. But it would have been a culturally relevant move, and cultural relevancy is something the WWE sorely lacks at present. The fact that they - really, Vince - had to be dragged kicking and screaming to making such an obvious move speaks to how out of touch this company is.

Raw and Smackdown are still the highest rated programming the USA network has by far, it being their primary driver as far as ad revenue is concerned. Even if the next contract isn't as rich, Vince and co. are still supplemented by the WWE Network.

If people stop buying merch, stop going to shows, and most importantly, stop subscribing to the WWE Network. You would probably see wholesale changes. This is nothing new guys.
Ratings are the bellwether. A smart organization would use the ratings to anticipate lagging drops in interest/merchandise.

Charlotte needed that PPV streak though. And look how well it paid off!

thats a booking error.

wyatt character in NXT was a possessed cult leader by the devil. go see his promos when he´s talking to someone , the shirts with references to satan is an example.

the rambling made total sense if u actually listen to what he was saying.

but then they had to screw everything up like they usually do...

It was horrible and pointless in NXT too. The fact Wyatt is pushed as the successor to Taker by smart fans is an insult to Taker and proof that smart fans are just as wrong as Vince, just in different ways.

They would sign him, give him a logo, give him a over rehearsed, over produced, robotic entrance, give him a few catch phrases that he will repeat 18 times per promo, give him a corny as fuck nickname that the announcers will refer to him as way too often, book him 50/50 style, give him shitty storylines, then have hardcore fans complain that they are burying him.

Rinse.

Repeat.

The WWE machine is bigger than any one wrestler, no matter how talented he is.

Omega is highly overrated as a possible savior. He's great for that promotion, but people acting like he'd be the WWEs savior even if they booked go correctly are misindetstanding a lot of why Omega is so over in Japan.

Also, Pillman was never actually a draw.

- better booked storylines (continuity is essencial)
- raw only 2 hours
- smackdown live (as it is)
- a proper draft every year on the raw after the first PPV after Wrestlemania
- no more scripted promos (just give wrestler bullet points on what to say)
- give the wrestlers the freedom to incorporate new moves into their matches
- give the wrestlers the freedom to be themselfs (if u cant get over that way then its your fault)
- give a major storyline for every belt on a show and then 1 or 2 side stories.
- make the wrestlers work for that spot (of being on tv on a storyline)
- make the part time wrestlers (Lesnar is the major example) either go full time or put them in a storyline that its not revolve around titles.

thank you wwe , this one is for free

It was also super endearing from WWE how they referred to the Raw after Mania fans as "Alternative fans"

The same people who spend more on your product than anyone else

I know:

He knows, thats why he stayed away I guess.

As soon as WWE told him you'll have an opportunity, he probably hung up.

He wouldn't turn the WWE around even if they booked him perfectly anyway

Omega probably knows exactly how shit would go down if he went to the E.

Which is why he's gonna keep his ass in Japan as long as he can.

Cole: That's! That's Mega Kenny! A huge star in Japan, and now he's here in WWE!

Cunt: FORMER IDUBYAGP CHAMPION MAGGLE LIKE BROCK LESNAR

Cole: THE BULLDOG MEGA KENNY IS HERE!

*roman reigns music hits*

Roman: You call yourself the bulldog... we'll I'm the big dog. And this is my yard.

Come on you ain't hype for Omega's WWE run?

Nah.

If they let a lot of wrestlers be themselves and do what they wanted to do in their storylines like in the Attitude Era, we'd have much much less issues. These guys are being held back. I mean there's a reason why you always have Reigns matches with all the spots, special stipulations and etc while you see a match earlier with guys who don't get to do near the amount of stuff.

Wrestling is going to continue to be a niche product. You're probably never going to see another era like 80s/attitude era in terms of popularity. Monoculture is dead. Even if it was possible, the WWE is not capable of manufacturing Hogan/Rock/Austin/NWO. Rock/Austin were once in a lifetime kind of talents, and they had freedom.

You can see some of the older guys get over with creative freedom. Look at Jericho. Its not going to be the attitude era if you let your guys have some freedom, but you might be able to put on a show that doesn't actively resent the fans.

Also, the roster split was dumb. Sure some lower to mid card acts have had a chance to shine, but diluting your talent pool when you were already trending downwards is not a smart move.

Can't wait to see Omega job to Roman in a Stairs match next year at WWE Great Balls of Fire: End of the Line: The Ultimate Thrill Ride!

Will you guys let Reigns go?

...Kenny is just as likely to be jobbed out to Ambrose or Rollins upon coming in.

Watching other wrestling promotions in place of Raw every week has been the best decision. There's so many quality matches going on outside of WWE that more than makes up for the 3 hours of boring promos, commercials, recaps, and throwaway matches that take up Raw every week. I've even had to fast-forward through Smackdown these days since the Shakeup happened.

Kenny Omega is one of those rare people who would be better off staying out of WWE. He makes solid pay already, has more creative freedom, and works a much better schedule.

I could see Kenny pulling a Styles; coming in when he's in the last few years of his career just to say he did and potentially to set himself up for something after he retires from being an in-ring talent.

Edit: Assuming, of course, he doesn't get married or have kids between now and then. That could definitely change his priorities around finances and make that WWE paycheck a more enticing offer.

Yup.

If he's willing to commit to NJPW I'm sure they'll put the title on him at dominion and make him the centerpiece of their expansion.

Also it means I can see Omega/Suzuki for the title

It's too boring.

Same match ups we've seen already.
Boring 'real person' characters.
Shit stories
Tamed the wrestling down so less violent or extreme...you can't take this away once done it and expect the same amount of excitement.

I miss blood. I understand why they stopped, but it adds a lot to certain matches. Austin refusing to tap while not being covered in blood isn't nearly as potent an image.

When do we get the Smackdown rating?

usually around 4pm eastern the day after it airs, so in about an hour.

More tidbits about this week's Raw rating: 1.90 is lower than any Raw rating last year besides THREE shows: July 4 did a 1.87 as it was a holiday, then two Raws going against football in September, which did a 1.88 and 1.75.

How low will it go this year up against football? I expect 1.7s and 1.6s. The worst ratings in Raw history.

Kenny Omega already knows what kind of fuckery he'd be in for, he had a developmental contract with WWE years ago along with having friends in the company today and probably hearing their stories. He's been around long enough to know how it would work. The only thing to do is get such a big offer from them that they can't justify making you look like a loser.

Snookie has more wins at WrestleMania than Bray Wyatt

I have the same number of wins at WrestleMania as Bray Wyatt and less losses.

Gallows & Anderson should be lesson enough to stay the fuck away from WWE.

After a couple of months of being blissfully unaware of what's currently happening in the WWE, I decided to tune in last week to check in on my horrible hobby.

Garbage. God damn it, it's all garbage.

Hahah some of you sleep on this mans talent, it only takes one person with charisma and transcending talent to change a companies fortunes. Just one.
