XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

It uses the new bumpers.

Hopefully people will get a chance to pick one up. It's heavy and the fit-and-finish is amazing. The sticks are stainless steel. There is a delrin bushing in each thumbstick cavity that is silky-smooth and should basically never wear out. There are two profiles that remember your settings and follow you to different consoles.

This is not a minor cosmetic special-edition. Watch the videos with the dev team. We worked closely with a bunch of pro gamers to really refine every aspect. We don't expect it to sell in huge volumes. For us, this was about building the best most premium controller we could make, and the price came out that. When you feel it in person, I think you'll see where that $150 went.

What's the warranty on the controller?

Looks amazing IMO.

This shot looks incredible. Cannot wait to get my hands on this thing.

Going to get this for Halo. OH MY.

Those metal pads, case. wow. People really surprised why its cost 150$? If its too high just wait for the sale price.

I hear what you are saying and it's all probably true but I still can't afford one :(. If I can I will *probably* buy one though.

What's the craic with the wireless dongle? Will it be available by the time this pad hits? Any plans to bundle the adapters with either or both pads?

Either way the engineers deserve some biscuits. Nice work.

Ultimately consumers dictate if it's overpriced and if this thread is an example, it is.

No. This thread is just a reacting to an unprecedented situation: a real premium optional controller from a console manufacturer. It's new and scary. I think the price isn't terrible. Looking at the kit, I'd say 100 would be to low.

I am seriously tempted by this, and I don't even have an XB1. I want to try it out though.

$150...............................

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

And still uses batteries..............

At times like this, it really is a reflection of the Neogaf user base.

Either this site is full of children with no income, people living at the poverty line, or those who will never earn more than the minimum wage.

The amount of people crying over a $150 is eye opening.

Guess what? This isn't a requirement. It's apparently a premium product and somewhat of a premium price.

And if by some chance, a $150 is enough to make you question your life and how this purchase might put you out on the street, you're in the wrong hobby and this elite controller isn't for you.

I really hope this is a joke post.

Heck, I even bought a SCUF Hybrid, so before you say "Omg another noob who can't afford it therefore isn't a gamer or something" you can hold your horses.

Alas the SCUF decided it would stick on a B press and thus had to be returned. It also shown me these "Premium" controllers really, really aren't worth the extra in my honest view. Sure, it er, felt better, ish, but the main point of the controller, the button presses and sticks, felt no better than the bog standard MS controller.

Now, considering the Xbox One gamepad is pretty good already, the only reason for getting these pads is for the interchangable stuff, which if you like the default isn't worth it. It's a matter of taste, but is way outside the purchase range for the majority of people. That isn't a bad thing and you seriously cannot go in and use such hyperbole because of this.

Edit: he's gone :(

That's fair and true.

I just think they should have found a way to bring the price down slightly because you can see the reactions.
Lol, based on what? 20/30 replies? What world do you live in?
Look at the Xbox One and what happened.
This is nothing like that, also the standard controller which is amazing and perfectly suitable for gaming. This is a premium controller, but your enjoyment of a game will not be diminished if you don't use it. Completely different from x1 where media outlets , users and non gamers were outraged.

There's also a ton of people showing carefully constructed 'concern' in every console exclusive thread. And I see a good number of people in this very thread interested in getting one. Do we not count?
sure but it's you who is calling everyone else "objectively wrong" not them.

The convex sticks can't possibly be any worse than the default sticks. It's overpriced just like any other controller. They charge what they feel they can get away with. Not what it's worth.

You should've spent more on your keyboard, your 'H' and 'A' keys are fucked.

Juniors are on a roll in this thread.

I will get this day 1. I really wish more companies would take the quality hardware approach with these things. Hopefully this controller feels as premium as it looks and sounds.

Always on the front lines, poor things.

You seriously think $150 is acceptable for a controller?

I will. There is no reason for this to be priced less. It's clearly made of better materials than the Steam Controller, and occupies the same niche. It's price seems fair and reasonable.

Are you similarly outraged at pricey keyboards?
I'm wondering if there's a bit of a schism here where PC gamers are used to a range of price points for equipment of varying quality, whereas console gamers are fixed in the 'one size fits all' mentality.

You seriously think $150 is acceptable for a controller?
Absolutely, yes. I also think £200 is acceptable for an arcade stick and £400 is acceptable for a wheel. £200 for a mouse and keyboard, £150-£200 for a flight stick.......
