XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

Was interested before the price just to use it for multiplats on PC, just a nice , comfy premium controller that'd work better in a general sense.

After price, lolno. Don't need something so pricy for single player games, and I'll stick to m+kb for actual competitive games.

Is this really just for Xbox one super competitive people then?

Just curious: is there anybody who is pretty sure that they'll be buying this, but not at all for FPS games? I'm not asking that sarcastically or saying there isn't, but rather as a genuine question. I've always been curious as to how big the market is for this type of thing outside of the FPS world. I'm more curious about how much people care for the paddles and hair trigger/trigger stops outside of the FPS world.

I have a Scuf on the 360 and can't imagine playing an FPS without it honestly. I haven't played any FPS games on the One yet so haven't had to consider getting a Scuf type controller for it, but I might have to consider this. I'm sure I'm not the only one who can get by with literally just the paddles and would be fine just getting an entry level Scuf though.

I'm getting one for all manner of PC games. Playing control heavy games like The Witcher would be great with this.

People here buy headphones for 200 dollars and fightsticks with the same price. But complain about this.

Excellent point.

It's an "elite" controller, so it will cost more money. Compare it to other custom controllers like SCUF, and it's a comparable price.

And besides, it's not a requirement for any titles.

considering that every controller I have ever played with needs replacement after a year of use. Even though I can afford, I can not justify that much money per year on one controller.

I will say this.... the Steam controller has the buttons mapped out on the back as well and it's way cheaper. Can't wait to try both of them out on PC. Damn I love PC gaming right now.

Looking forward to reviews! If it's worth it, I'll probably get it.

People need to stop throwing the word "objectively" around like it somehow automatically makes them win their argument.

There are tons of people in this very thread alone excited to get this controller. Saying it's overpriced is like saying the iPad is overpriced. Sure the BOM might not equal retail but that's not how real humans make transactions.

$150....

I'll wait and see which games will support it. I'm sure by then it'll be on sale for $100-$120.

It's a standard controller so all games will. It'll likely get a price drop at some point. People are just happy to pay the earlier adopter tax and call it, objectively, a bargain.

I saw this earlier, but $150 seems out of my range. Then again, there are people with multiple fight sticks that are over $100 a piece. I'm sure there's a market for this, but clearly I'm not a part of it

Yeah... paid almost 300 for my arcade stick to be able to play on consoles and PC. Keyboard is about 150. Headset 250. Peoplease don't like paying for quality.

Paid $200 for my flight stick
$150 for my rudders
$100 for my stand
$50 in wood, parts, paint, etc

Then turned around and did it again for the racing wheel:

Sometimes you want to go all out.

I'll buy it just for use with Windows 10 alone. I've been rocking four 360 pads with Steam over the last 5 years, and it's time for a real upgrade. It will get more use than any console controller would ever have in my house anyway (I've got them all for the record). Couch PC gaming forever!

edit: will of course wait for a bit of a price drop. $150 is a bit muc
edit2: AAs 4 life. It's nice having a bunch of rechargeable on standby

complaining about batteries again

unless the battery in there is as good as the Wii U Pro controller's, I'll take AAs over internal

will you guys buy phones with AA batteries?

AA batteries in this day and age are weird, almost everything from cameras to handhelds..ect using rechargeable Internal now, they are just way better and hassle free.

I'm wondering if there's a bit of a schism here where PC gamers are used to a range of price points for equipment of varying quality, whereas console gamers are fixed in the 'one size fits all' mentality.

It definitely has something to do with this.

For the price point I actually do expect them to put together something at least half as good...but oh well...

Charging double for a controller? they might as well cone out with an "Xbox One Elite Edition" for $700 than...

If you can't tell the different between an iPad and a controller then there is not hope for you.

When was the last time platform holders have lowered the cost of their controllers, that you can recall?

Not weighing in on price, but I'll say from experience, using a controller with paddle buttons and remappable controls is game changing.

Anyone that's used kontrolfreex knows that a simple thing like changing the height of a stick to provide more sensitivity can change your play - having the ability to quickly access buttons that are normally (stupidly) hard locked to bad configs changes games.

Best example is jump/crouch/slide in games that don't offer bumper jumper style configs or require you to move your thumb from aiming to slide or crouch. You can continue to aim and shoot while jumping or sliding with paddles.

It does matter, and it does affect your play.

Unfair advantage, well, I'll leave that to forum arguments and keep using my custom controllers ;) My kb/m setup is sure as hell custom.

External batteries that you can actually change when you need to is always better than proprietary ones that you can't.

Come on, you know that's happened too. real humans? You said people who consider this overpriced are objectively wrong. Are they now not real humans too?

for the Bold!

I ordered one.

Thanks, Preordered!

So are they gonna have 2 separate divisions in halo 5 multiplayer? Because otherwise it kinda is necessary for anyone who wants a level playing field.

LOL, no, good players will be good no matter what, but Hardcore gamers want accessories that makes their long play session (12 hours a day or so) more comfortable and have accessories that are more durable, for example in Halo 3 I use to go to 1 controller every 6 month and I wasnt that hardcore.
