XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

Ehh... ipad is extremely overpriced if you look at the hardware alone... Or are you some Apple fanboy?

I hate Apple with a passion, but its an Apple to Oranges comparison

Elite gamer here. This looks like the controller for me.

People who laugh at the price are probably not elite anyway.

Why? Its like fighting games and the diff between using a controller and using a fight stick. One is better, but if you're good enough it won't really matter 90% of the time.

I need to know the playing field is level or I don't feel like playing. It is just how I'm wired.

No more worn out joystick! It's worth it for that reason alone. I hate it when the sticks wear out and movement is no longer smooth.

*just an image I found on google, but this is what I'm talking about.

Any word on whether the bottom four paddles can be mapped to their own inputs on PC, or if they're limited to being remapped to other inputs on the controller?

(I had this problem with the Razer Sabertooth and wound up returning it - Windows just saw it as a standard 360 controller, so there wasn't a way to give those bottom inputs their own functions)

Having the bumper mappable to separate keys would be crazy awesome. One bumper would be dedicated to voicechat for me.

As a long time halo bumper jumper user,I want this very badly. That price is a tough pill to swallow though. I'm willing to pay a nice premium over the normal controller, but $100 or even $120 would sting a lot less.

I will most likely still get it though. I can justify it by the durability and the fact that I can use it on pc if I ever decide to build a good one

This can't be a serious post.
Did you even read what the product is or read the post from an MS employee in this thread?

have I read lies from someone who's trying to sell me something? yeah that has happened before. it's usually followed by mocking laughter.

E3 always brings out the absolute stupid on GAF. I don't even know why I bother coming here anymore.

That's not a sale mate. That is the price.

No, those are sales. That's why the current price is higher than the lowest recorded price. The MSRP on MS and Sony controllers have not once come down since the launch of their last platforms about a decade ago.

Will you be able to find one at some point on sale? Maybe so. But I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a Microsoft price drop.

Just awesome. I've been wishing for years that controllers would start making use of the underside - where most of your fingers sit idle. I modded one myself a few years back, and it was fantastic.

The pricing is unfortunate though, especially as an Australian :( There's definitely a fat 'premium tier tax' on it. I'll get one eventually.

Yikes. I might buy one still, but it'll be after reviews and a sale.

The same people who probably also question why anyone would buy an iPad instead of a Kindle Fire, or a BMW over a Kia. If they get the build quality right, I'll buy two. If the build quality is as shitty as the current XB1 controller and DS4, they can keep it.

I'm skeptical about this.

I've repaired my Xbox 360 controllers numerous times and the external joystick isn't what goes bad. It is the piece that it connects to which is soldered onto the board.

Having an additional joystick wouldn't fix the underlying problem...

Yeah, wear on the potentiometer/switch housing is a problem for all analog controllers that most commonly results in drift. I wonder if the quality or design of the one in this controller is any different than the standard ones used in stock controllers.
