XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

Not even a misshapen hump for the batteries on this thing. Ergonomics would be a legit complaint for AA batteries.

Always love this parallel reality post

I'm by no means a competitive-pro whatever gamer, but would like to rock that baby on my gaming PC

Fallout 4 with style yoo

how much is "style" worth to you? xbox controllers cost $20 brand new on ebay. that is after the retail markup, they are being sold for a profit for $20. PS4 controllers go for ~$30.

this is a total ripoff.

The price is to cash in on the Kinect loss.

Please people, let your wallets dictate the prices. It is almost half the cost of the console currently.

The crowd they are targeting with this will pay the price. They looked at the market and what their competitors charge and set the price accordingly.

As Penello noted they don't expect to shift a lot of these so the premium price point makes sense.

Some people buy 250€ keyboards... im sure some hardcore gamers will buy this

Nothing wrong with enjoying quality products, with quality materials and premium manufacture.

Not sure why some people get mad about it? Is almost like if surround yourself with cheap plastic disposable products was a good thing...

I'm not saying you need to spend in nonsensical aspirational bling, but if you gonna be using a controller for 4-5 hours a day... Man, I rather use a nice controller.

Yes, because wired controllers aren't outdated technology.

Nope, wired 24/7. AA chemical technology was invented thousand of years ago...
Still using wired mouse for PC.
Why would I risk a chance of fumbling around to find AA or a cord when shit is going down in a middle of a game.

These will "become available at the New Low Price of $99.99" within a year of launching. Then use a coupon here or there, and get them for $70-80 bucks. Then your wallet doesn't hurt so much when you put it back in your pocket.

I WAS going to get this, but not at $150. And why we arguing about batteries again? The battery pack that comes with the play and charge kit is a lipo. If you want to use AA batteries, then use them. If you want an internal rechargeable battery that you recharge via a usb cable, then get the play and charge kit. Everybody wins.

Understood, but nobody likes high priced peripheral trends for the sake of.

Hence why these usually get a bin filled at Gamestop heavily discounted.

Now if they they had them for at about $80-$90, then they probably would sell truck loads more.

I've been using the same 360 wireless controller for about 5 years now on my gaming PC. As I said for a product I'm most likely gonna be using for years and hundred of hours whatever...

I rather get the nice controller

Want to touch them paddles

And yeah, this is probably too much for a controller. Internals I assume the same and I doubt the materials and individual pieces make up the rest.

Maybe they're like, "Fuck it. Let's see how much people will pay for a special edition controller?"

Nice collector's item.

Also because fuck keeping track of yet another pair of rechargeables.

I use this to keep track. Fresh ones right-side-up. Dead ones upside-down. Pretty easy.
I need to get more, but I have 2 in a 360 pad, 2 in an xbox one pad, 2 in a wii mote and 1 in a mouse right now.

People buy $280+ keyboards? I didn't even know almost $300 keyboards exist because everyone buys the $120-160 ones that are considered the best.

Happy Hacking Keyboards. 300+ considered the top of the line for typing. It's insane, check out r/mechanicalkeyboards

...no, because the MSRP on the XB1 actually dropped on Microsoft's end.

There's a reason Amazon is the retailer we're talking about here and it's because they constantly eat additional margins on hardware other retailers cannot. It's six whole dollars off MSRP because Amazon is willing to cut their margin that much lower and keep the product on sale. No matter what the MSRP is you will regularly find the same kind of minor additional margin being cut by Amazon simply because they deal in volume that they can afford to.

I mean if by "waiting on a price drop" you mean you're waiting for Amazon to squeeze another ~5-10% off the top, by all means. But Microsoft actually dropping the MSRP on this particular product - especially given the category - is an entirely different story.

Except it's not just amazon. It's third party sellers too as I already mentioned. Also as I've said the margin on this is likely higher and prone to larger drops. Look, I'm not going to stop you from buying one. I'm not even waiting for a price drop, I may not even ultimately buy this at all if I can't justify it at lower cost but all I'm saying is it's likely this will be $90 at some stage. You try and argue semantics and say those prices aren't "official" but it ultimately makes no difference.

Price is a bit steep, but I'll buy it anyway. I use southpaw and most of the times there is a compromise for me as far as controller configurations go. Run and jump buttons are one example. I have to use the claw grip for those instances where the run and jump buttons are mapped to the face of the controller and not to the bumpers.

A larger margin is necessary as MS doesn't expect to sell volumes of these things. No reason to hate a company because they make profit.

Weird how people here almost get angry at those of us willing to spend money on this sort of thing.

For the people complaining about the price the item is clearly not for you. Step away and find something else to complain about the price is decent for what custom controllers would cost you. You're paying a premium for a premium accessory they are not tossing it into every Xbone and raising the price and you certainly are able to go with the standard.

Just complaining for the sake of complaining when you don't even have to buy I believe a term exists for this... Oh yeah it's called Bitching.

I am a hardcore PC gamer. I paid $10 for my back-lit keyboard. $10 for my gaming mouse with snazzy blue and red lighting. anything much higher than that is just too much.

Then obviously any premium PC peripheral isn't marketed towards you. I'm sure MS feels terrible for not making every product fit your exact needs. They will try harder next time.

That price.

Also... what is up with that D-pad? It looks horrendous at times.

Which D-Pad? The controller comes with a couple you can switch between to meet your preference.

Really MS? $150?

Even at $99 I would say that is a ridiculous price for a controller. Obviously not targeted for the masses.

Sorry what? Lots of people are clearly interested but not at this price.

Are you a mod?
