XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

Sorry what? Lots of people are clearly interested but not at this price.

Are you a mod?

Do I need to be a mod to take note that all the replies just stating "lol $150 nope" or "$150 what a rip" are people that are clearly uninformed of the costs of custom controllers and other premium accessories? Is it too much to ask that people don't post the same innane thing about the price point when it's more then justified?

Some of you guys don't seem to be aware that Microsoft would be more than happy to continue selling you as many of the old controllers as you'd like at the price they've always been available for.

More options are not a bad thing.

Why would I risk a chance of fumbling around to find AA or a cord when shit is going down in a middle of a game.

Must be prone to ignoring the low battery messages an hour before the batteries run out. Must have some long CoD sessions to not be able to pause in that window.

Hmm, I really want one, but $150 is a bit much. Will see if I can squirrel away some cash by Christmas for it. I really like the remappable buttons...

Iv been using my scuf controller and honestly the paddles are so good I couldn't play without them now. The advantage you have in FPS games by not having to take your thumbs off the analogue sticks is insane. Definitely picking one of these up when they're available.

And Pernello talked about this, MS is not expecting big sales from this controller

Then why even make it?

MSFT is not in the charity business with tech. They want to sell as much shit as they can. More sales equals more profits equals more happy investors.

Sounds to me he is trying to quell flames of the price-point backlash. "For you hardcores tho, a $150 gift for you!"

Because a company called SCUF has most of the market and Microsoft wants to compete.

Though the controller is expensive, I do appreciate them making an official premium controller like this for people who want these features. Good for Microsoft.

Fight sticks are anywhere from 100 to 300 bucks and you can only (logistically) use them for a very limited number of games. They get nowhere near the hate as this.

Edit: lest we forget $600 driving wheels

I missed the repercussions at the time, but this is actually a huge turn off for me.

One of the main things I like about console multiplayer versus PC is that everyone is on an even playing field. This makes a mockery of that and now if someone out manouevers me in Halo, or whatever, my first thought would be, 'Bet they have the elite controller if they are hitting buttons that quickly' not, 'nice move, my worth opponent'.

If they'd priced it as a replacement, my complaints would have been minimal, but as an elite controller with the price tag to match, they just ensured I stay away from the XBO until this thing is the bundled standard controller at the very earliest.

I don't think you understand how varied product lines work.
They will have larger profit margins to compensate for the reduces sales volume.
Make no mistake, MS will still get their profit. They aren't doing a charity thing here, they are just offering a product to a largely underserved demographic.

How about they make one with just the extra back stuff on and forget the case, the extra sticks and the swappable d-pad. coz thats all that I'd want.

then can we have it for £60?

Because it was made for a group in mind that will buy it, just like any other premium product, not only on Tech, but like it is On Apparel, watches, shoes, cars, etc is like asking why apple is making a 10k+ watch, when they also have one much cheaper.

It looks good, but at that price it will never make me cancel my Steam pad pre-order - i may get one after launch when the price goes down.

1. Scuf controllers etc.
2. People that use and mastered claw

That's exactly what it is though. Something for the small dedicated group that does buy them from third party makers this is a legit first party premium modification of their controller.

Most third party companies Frankenstein mod first party controllers for a decent markup. MS is getting rid of the middle man and giving the small group of gamers that want this a first party product.

It shouldn't be that hard to understand...

man, this one looks really cool. I'd pay 89 bucks in a heartbeat but 150? don't think so.

need to see more of it and hold it in my hand maybe.

Oh wow. Living in Russia, i've tried to imagine this situation.
Like, here's your Xbox One for 25k roubles (if lucky) and Elite Gamepad for 8-10k. Oh my...

Already happened to you, you just didn't know.

Well it's definitely not for everyone. If you think it's too expensive, just don't buy it. It's not that they don't give you standard controllers anymore. Why so much hate?
