XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

MS are crazy. It's pretty cool, MAYBE $99 cool, but $150 will not sell. Price drop <6 months after release.

Do controllers really drop in price? Honestly wouldn't be surprised if X360 and PS3 controllers still cost as much as they used to 8 years ago in Finland

But yeah, drop it under 100 euros and I'll bite

150? 150?! Really? Dah fuq? Oh well, already swapped my dieing 360 controller for a Wii U pro controller so it's not like I was in the market anyway.

My reaction to selling a $150 controller is something Eric Cartman would say, likely involving spheroids of some sort, and perhaps a kind of inverted blowing action.

Even at $60 I find controllers these days to be far overpriced, and the only reason I even have the 360 "improved" d-pad controller was that Target once had a sale on one (in a really ugly camo deco, but IDGAF) bringing it down to somewhere in the $30's.

I believe in paying the proper amount for quality gear, so if the controller is that good and made up with enough quality materials to justify $150, I have no problem paying that.

I would have to try it out first hand before I buy, though. I don't think anyone should get that upset over the price. It's not like they're not going to stop making the regular controller anymore, which is already a very good controller.

Might splurge and make this a combo purchase with Halo 5 when it comes out. Not having to move my thumb off the right stick when I'm jumping all over the place will be fantastic.

Maybe they'll have some bundle for like $200 hint hint.

Well they still haven't announced what's in that Halo 5 $250 edition so... Maybe?

It would be awesome, but no way it happens.

So far we know it's coming with a statue and that's about it. There's no season pass because all the maps are free unless they do some significant campaign DLC. The statue would have to be something absolutely incredible to justify that price.

I agree with you though, I don't think it'll happen.

That statue had better have functioning Forerunner technology to be worth almost $200.

Need a hard date on this. I've decided I'm 100% buying it. It looks too fucking good. Guaranteed you'll be able to get spare parts for it too should the existing ones break or wear. So it's theoretically a controller that could last forever.

Oh shit, you are talking about the $250 Halo game edition! I thought you guys were talking about a Halo 5 plus console bundle for $250 that we may see this holiday season. Haha

Jeebus. I didn't get to watch the conferences live and the only thing my friends talked about on break at work from E3 was the new XBOne controller lol. I don't think they knew the price, insane.

I don't see the problem with the current one which was introduced as a hardcore awesome elite controller to begin with. I guess this is the natural progression from last-gens "new & improved controller available this fall" we got at basically every E3 from MS. Must be hella profitable.

Haha yea, the $250 box whose contents have yet to be revealed. I'm surprised we didn't see the Halo 5 console today though.

$150 for a controller?
Does it have a built-in Kinect? Because then that price would be okay.
How it is now though it isn't. It isn't at all!
A controller is not worth 2-3 games. Except when it comes with them.

What a letdown.

I've got a steam controller on pre-order for $50. I'm sure this is the definitive analogue stick controller, but I think I'll hold out.

The Scuf comparisons need to keep coming, just to balance out the "lol too expensive" posts.

Premium price for a premium product, to be sure. Good on MS for providing controller options

They are overpriced themselves. Who on neogaf actually owns one? 5 people?

They've been comfortable with pricing their controllers that high because they know their target market will find value in such a premium device. Obviously Microsoft has the same in mind and even more obvious is that you aren't part of their target market.

$150, geez. I remember when you could buy four controllers for less than this. I'm sure the materials and components are all top-notch(they better be at that price), but that's a lot to ask for a general gamepad.

If this controller had the GC form factor and pillow triggers, I might buy it if it dropped to $100.

150 dollars.

150 euros.

That's gonna happen. Way too much. XBOX One is almost 300 euro's. 2 controllers cost the same as the console itself? Nah Microsoft. Nah.

$150 and it still doesn't have a built in battery? (Maybe I'm wrong but it looks like a battery slot on the back)

Thats a good thing. Nobody should have to plug this in while playing because it died.

Buying a $12 recharge station that comes with recharchable AA batteries is so much more convenient.

I never understand why people complain about the AA batteries. Would you seriously rather an internal battery that will eventually die? I don't want to replace a controller when that happens (especially one this expensive), I'd rather just buy two pairs of rechargeable AAs and swap them out. There is really nothing convenient about the built in battery, and there is a play and charge kit for those who want it.
