XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

October doesn't make sense. Controller seems built and ready to go. How long would it take to build enough to satisfy demand? I can't se it selling a whole lot

It was one of the top 10 most pre-order item coming out of E3. I think this will sell well.

Source is me. Either believe it or don't. If a mod wants me to provide a source I can but I won't make that public.

I wasn't asking you to make your source public lol but you did bring it up so some sort of verification would be nice if you know what I mean friend.

I don't want it to be that far away. :(

I saw it in a computer at my friends workplace. He works for GameStop. I will be there later today. I will ask him if it is okay to take a picture with my phone. If you ask me October 6th is too specific to be a placeholder date.

Tell your source to send me one early. Thanks.

Ah. Hopefully you misread October 6th for August 26th. It could happen.

I envy those of you that will immediately play Dark Souls without using the claw grip. That's really all I can imagine using it for - binding B to something on the back.

Ah Octobaro :(

Still, i get to save up and buy it.

Does the controller have a standard headphone jack btw?

I'm still trying to confirm this information. Anyone know?

will any of this new technology described below in the redesigned controller be inside of the Elite as well?

With the updated controller, in addition to the volume and mute controls on gaming headsets, you'll also have the option to adjust headset volume, mic monitoring, and voice and game audio balance through the Settings menu on your console. We've also improved the quality of audio coming through the controller and increased the maximum audio volume on headsets used with this controller, based on fan feedback. And we've enabled wireless firmware updates on the updated controller which eliminates having to connect the controller via USB cable to receive updates.

The pad really is nice and it's great that MS are trying something new with their controller but come on $150...... this needs a major price drop or I can't see them selling a lot of these.

I pre-orderd on amazon and was debating on if I should get one. After using it at comic con I already miss it. They had a Halo : MCC demo setup with the controller. It was was so nice but took a little to get used to. They even had to so I could play people over xbox live. The bumpers made a huge difference and allowed me to keep my thumbs on the sticks.

they're not trying to sell a lot of these. they're trying to crush the scuf market, which they probably will do at that price.

I thought the point of this was mostly to acquire the market share these custom controller websites are getting. Do they think they're going to accomplish that with brand name alone? They're the same price as the ones people were already making, with no custom colors.

If it were $100 I'd probably invest in one. I can justify a lot of game-related purchases because they're things that I'll use for years, but $150 is crazy. I like the product though.

They're cheaper with more options. Besides colors, the things integrated into the controller would push a SCUF designed one up to $250+.

$150 is really steep IMO. The only way I would even consider it is if they let you map more than the standard buttons (at least on PC). If you could have all of the standard xbox one buttons plus additional functions for the paddles then I'd seriously, seriously consider getting one. It needs more than what it is currently offering to really be worth all that extra money (don't care about swapping stuff and using the paddles JUST as a substitute for the face buttons), speaking personally. The additional buttons though would certainly do it for me. I sure hope they change their minds on that before launch.

You are totally on-point.

I want those four rear toggles as additional shortcut menu buttons in RPGs (no more digging in menus, please). I want them as shortcuts for weapon-switching in open world games (no radial menu - just press a toggle to switch to the specific gun you want).

The price still stinks. I bet MS is making a killing on these at $150, whereas SCUF probably does OK to add the same at $250, because all of their stuff is made by hand.

I would be in if it was $99, and was fully remappable on PC (I.e. paddles used for additional functions, not just additional ABXY inputs).

I preordered a steam controller instead specifically because it DOES offer that and is more than 50% cheaper.

Don't forget the far better build quality. Scuf is shit. If you actually open a scuf and see how amateurish the wiring is inside you wouldn't make that statement. The paddles are also cheap plastic which break all the time.

Do you guys think this could be a good controller for retro games? The 360 controller is one of my favorite controllers of all time but it was pretty bad for retro games (not just talking about the d-pad).

I'm likely getting the controller this year but it'd be nice if the controller was usable for all kinds of games at that price point.

This controller looks great, looks versatile. I would be tempted for a native sharing function alone. There will be sales for this bad boy I'm sure, so I'll just wait till then for one of those....though I would buy this in an instant if it was 89.99 maybe 99.99.

Are there gonna be more dpad's available other than the two that comes with the controller purchase? I would like to see some alternatives that would be good for 2D games and fighting games.

What annoys me is, that I can't pay for it at any places. And knowing myself, I'll end up using the money for something else. But I'm sure I'll get the Elite controller at launch.

ms controllers always go on sale so $150 is the first dibs price. you'll probably see them occasionally for 120 or 100 then go back to their retail price.

MS controllers are mass produced. Millions of them. This will not be made in anywhere near that number. I doubt there will be a price cut for a long while.

Yeah they are going after a niche market and coming in pretty cheap. There is no reason for them to lower the price anytime soon. People have already shown that they're willing to pay $200+ for a controller similar to this one.

That one works. Clicking "View Original" will send you to another page and you can use that link to post the pic.

That's what I did the first time and everyone said that they couldn't see it. :/

When I posted xbox screenshots in the screenshots thread by clicking on share, one drive allowed me to set those pictures as "Everyone can only view" under shared with and there was a picture of a little globe there. Now it only has 'anyone with this link" and a picture of a chain link. It's not letting me use the settings that I know for a fact worked in the screenshot thread and I have no idea why.
