XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

Literally my only complaint about this isn't in the price.

For $175 USD for the controller and wireless (more since I'm Canadian), I want to at least be able to choose my colours!

Silver and black is so plain. Let me have a white Elite controller with light blue buttons, sticks, etc.

This is what im talking about. Sell me a white elite controller, so i can match either my white xbone or white computer case.

More likely concerned about WHO they spend it on, as is which hated company.

Eh, idk about that. I imagine these are the same people who don't like the idea of spending a lot on a nice mechanical keyboard or arcade stick. I have both (multiples even), not a single regret.

Colored buttons would ruin the look, imo. Glad they aren't.

I'd still like an option to customize it ala Moto Maker.

It's overpriced, have a nice day.

Against what? Have you seen the price of custom shop controllers from Cinch? Scuf? Battle Beaver? Those are the major custom houses. Adding all the features you see on the Xelite brings those controllers far above $150 and without the case, the custom app, build quality and on the fly customization.

You are either trolling or... just stop.

He probably just cheap, not that i wanna pay that much for a controller, but i like nice things, so i will.

Is the casing still plastic?

lol, This very thread from the moment price was announced.

Unless the new material is silver, logic says it shouldn't be $90 more, they target this demographic because they'll bite at any price, like apple does, and it's clever because people justify it on their own. I'm not offended by it, I play on PC and PS4, but I sure as hell wouldn't like a $150 controller on PS4. It's a very nice controller, but I can't justify that price at all, would rather get a Steam controller and see if it's good.

So you don't even play on Xbox One where this controller is *primarily* aimed at for the release of Halo 5? Man, just let it go.

I'd say you're right but the guy did complain about the "billion dollar company" basically trying to con people (paraphrasing)

No one is asking you to get it. Just dont, case closed. You dont even have a xbone.

I'mt not even sure if this is sarcasm anymore? i'm stating it's overpriced like 90% of the internet did when it was announced and I've got half of GAF against me, I'll just state the obvious again.

It's overpriced, have a nice day.

Did people alreasy post how it's priced competitively when compared to its direct competitor (scuf)?

Arcade sticks are more expensive than standard controllers. Racing wheels are more expensive than standard controllers. They are niche products for a niche market. They also aren't required.

The fact that this controller still shares many similarities with a standard controller is what's throwing some people off I think. I think maybe because arcade sticks and racing wheels look so different people don't question the price as much.

I can't believe people here is arguing over this controller. It is obviously priced for the 'hardcore' gamers who are willing to spend a lot more money. MS is going to make a killing on this

I actually used to be in his position. Before I decided to get an Xbox One, I was pretty jealous too that there wasn't a Dualshock 4 equivalent.

Some people are going to use whatever they can to discredit the idea.

Here's how I see it: are you going to get $150 worth of gameplay out of the controller? I would say I easily will, via emulation, native xinput games, and the possibility of buying an Xbox One in the future.

$150 isn't that bad even if it wasn't that much of a niche targeted audience. It adds enough that I feel I can get its value and more out of it.

Well then you guys better start buying them controllers.

150 is a lot for a controller, but I'm willing to bet this thing will still be going strong 10 years from now. And given the impressive features on top of the high quality construction build it will likely prove worth its cost in the end. I'm frugal as heck, but I am strongly considering buying this. If you're going to buy something, buy quality because it will last, that's my motto.

judging by the shite arguments people are using against the controller, it's likely the resentment stems from it being an Microsoft accessory for PC and XB1.

Wait I second.. Does the controller have shorter analog sticks? The one thing I dislike about the Xbox one controller is that the sticks feel too high. I prefer the 360 height. Shit if they have those size sticks available I'll gladly bite on one of gods most beautiful creations.

Looking forward to the Elite Controller going up against the Steam Controller as far as PC is concerned

The Steam controller would be another cheap plastic creaking controller to add to the pile. I'm sure it will have its uses but these products certainly won't be hitting head-to-head.

Now if they made a steam controller out of higher quality materials they would have my attention.

I'm clutching my 90$ CAD amazon preorder for dear life.

I love amazon price mistakes, I hope they honour it.

Same. I'm cancelling if they do decide not to honour that price. I can't justify spending $190+tax on this, as much as I want it.

They should honor it... a bunch of people earlier in the thread got their price adjusted after amazon went back on a different price mistake

Nah. The response on GAF to the SCUF PS4 controllers was pretty awful, too.

Yeah but generally the response to stuff like that, and even the razer xbone competitor to this elite pad is "damn thats ugly" or "I wouldn't pay that much". The complaints are usually specific and related to the aesthetics or quality.

Here people have acknowledged that it does look pretty good, but are so upset about the price (even after they've been told what market segment its aiming for and comparable pricing) that they want it to bomb lol. If there isn't some brand factor at play here I've underestimated how crazy gaf is.

Didn't you just say you had half of GAF against you?

This is simply not true. There's a lot of choices in production that can increase the cost.

- The quantity being manufactured
- Quality control
- The material (quality plastic can actually be more expensive than silver)
- Support (Quality and speed of support after purchase)
- Extras (carrying case, swappable joysticks/dpad)

I suppose I'm just optimistic and holding out that fanboy console wars have nothing to do with this. Hopefully.

I also hope it bombs so it doesn't set the precedent of freaking $150 controllers, not even on PC are there pads that expansive, not even mechanical keyboards, reading how people defend the price is hilairous. Should be $100 TOPS. Don't feel bad about the billion dollar company trying to milk your wallet, seriously

Mechanical keyboards sure can be $150. Don't know where you're getting your info from.

I'm still not really sure how they can compete with each other on PC outside of controller centric games. Without velocity based 1:1 input, the Elite controller won't be able to play well or be competitive with the myriad of mouse and keyboard centric PC games, which has always been the case and is one of the main purposes of the Steam Controller.

As far as controller centric games go, so far the Steam Controller is sounding pretty decent at everything getting thrown at it vs a standard controller. I doubt their would be a significant difference vs the Elite controller since their isn't a monumental change in the inputs, just added comfort and quality. Not sure on if the dpad has improved over the original XB1 controller to the Elite, but I don't think the XB1 dpad had too much wrong with it anyway.

The Steam controller would be another cheap plastic creaking controller to add to the pile. I'm sure it will have its uses but these products certainly won't be hitting head-to-head.

That is something that hasn't been talked about much. Build quality of the Elite controller looks stellar. The Steam Controller likely won't compare, but durability and comfort are the most important things for any controller really, so I'd hope neither feel cheap or creak. The worst complaint of a controller I've had is the original 360 pad, which had squeaky triggers after a year and degraded horribly over time. The DS3 is still going strong for the same time period, although I dislike the mushy triggers

I was going to buy this but there's no colored buttons so Fuck it

It really wouldn't be hard or expensive to source some coloured buttons, if that is the only issue you have with it.
