XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

How am I shit posting? In any of my explanations where I'm talking about electronic specifics for the Elite controller and Scuff comparing them to what fight sticks offer for fighters, where did I not elaborate?

I also brought into the discussion the official word on regular xbox one controllers remapping profiles which is one of the selling points of the Elite controller.

I'd really like big paddles as well, what i want is one for the upper left back and one for the lower right back.

FYI, Steam Controller does this as well, and the software appears to be far more robust at the moment.
 
It's quite a bit of money but atleast it really looks to be a premium product. (Even though it probably doesn't cost all that much to make, but whatever. Lol).

And if you are careful with it then perhaps you'd replace parts of it, rather than the controller itself. I wonder if they can start selling add-ons or replacement parts.

I'm excited to receive mine. Mostly because of the grip. I think it will feel so much better to hold these. And second because of those paddles on the back. I can't wait to never have to push my analog sticks for running in shooters again. I hate it.

That's almost half the price of a console. No controller should cost anywhere near that much, no matter what features the pad has. I just think it's incredibly silly to lay that much cash for a gaming peripheral. I would expect to buy a steering wheel in that ballpark. I'm from the UK so I imagine the pricing of the new controller would be beyond awful in this country.

I'm assuming the controller's built costs were a fraction of a price, and Microsoft decided to value it at $150 because well - they can. Seeing as we have many negative comments towards anyone who claims it's too expensive, it looks like their genius marketing is working well!

Generally speaking, gaming/computing peripherals ARE overpriced IMO. Just because I have the cash to spend it, doesn't mean I will.

I think a more appropriate price would be $100 (max).

To be fair, it's about the same price as the Scuf controllers (a bit cheaper than some of them too), so really they just priced it competitively with the existing products on the market.

Microsoft's controller is a mass manufactured product. It isn't hand crafted.

Where do people get the notion that these from the ass "shouldnt ever cost more than x" statements without any supporting evidence for why beyond general distrust of MS make any sense at all?

I cant help but chuckle at you saying $100 is the most it should cost based on nothing but an assumption and your dislike for MS.

I'm not accusing anyone of conspiracy, i'm directly saying you're talking out of your ass when you name an arbitrary number with no information on what the production costs are, let alone losing sight of the fact its a premium accessory and so it makes sense to charge a premium for it. The point is for MS to make money, after all.

A lot of people in this thread don't seem to understand the concept of supply and demand.

Quick question: the new standard controllers have improved bumpers, have they explicitly stated that the elite controllers have that as well? I've watched a lot of videos but haven't seen anyone talk about that. I guess you can pretty much expect that it's the case, but I wanted to know if anybody was positive.
 
Its not just the incremental production cost of the unit youre buying. They also have sunk nonrecurring costs to develop this new product: For example wages for engineers and designers, prototyping costs, Costs for setting up production lines at factories. These costs need to be recovered across the lifespan of the product thru price of the units sold. A niche item with lower projected sale quantities will therefore be more heavily burdened by this cost component.

Now of course there is the whole supply and demand component of price but I'm sure the experts at MS have their reasons for choosing this price point on that curve

Yes it has all the improvements of the new standard controller. Headphone jack, line monitoring, new bumpers, wireless updating etc
 
What kind of warranty does this controller come with? Normally don't care about accessory warranties, but this is a premium controller.

Also, it's funny as hell to me that people are shitting all over this controller for being expensive when clearly it has useful applications beyond a regular controller.

These are probably the same people that spend 250 dollars on collectors edition games that come with a statue and an extra booklet or something. Or maybe not...but you don't see people complaining about that stuff because we have accepted the fact that some people want to pay extra for a game that they like.

Hand crafted? wtf is hand crafted? A scuff controller that they take the innards and fuck around with wiring to slab on a dinky little hard to press paddle on the back? Have you seen some of the jobs done to these "hand crafted" controllers? A lot of times it's shit, and it breaks constantly. People bitch about their custom controllers going bad all the time.

This Elite looks to be built far better than any custom controller shop out there. You're paying way less for this better controller with far more features than you are for some half-assed "hand crafted" job done by Scuff, Cinch, or any other third party custom shop.

Checking Best Buy's site, it seems that the controller is only available for shipping and not store pickup. Has this always been the case? Would prefer to buy it from BB as I'd get decent chunk of points.

I preordered one for store pickup a couple weeks ago, so that's somewhat new.

Would moisture from cooking via pots affect a controller at all?
 
I have gone from hating the Xbone controller, to just using for PC and then to it being my favourite controller at the moment. I need this version in my hands, but not for that price.

You used to be able to pick up controllers at the store that were ordered online then for some untold reason they changed the policy and if you ordered online it was only shipped to your house.

I mean... potentially? Are you thinking of storing your controllers for long periods of time on a rack above your stove? Then yeah, you're gonna have issues, from heat warping if nothing else.

Left new controllers in boxes in the dining room. Family has been cooking Thanksgiving dinner in kitchen, with a bit of moisture from pans.

I know I'm worrying over nothing, but my OCD now makes me worry that the moisture has gotten into/ruined the controllers and they need to go back. lol

There's a partial wall and quite a few feet separating the areas.
