Holy fuck, Flatout rocks. I loved everything about the demo. Flatout finally beats Burnout at its own game. Insanely fun.
VibratingDonkey said:There are only two things that suck about Flatout: Ultimate carnage.
1. No split-screen. No matter the excuse, this is always a downer.
2. No savable replays. Totally crazy shit gets pulled all the time and all I can do is take photos with my crappy cellphone camera. Even the producer of the game thinks it's regrettable. Everyone does.

Hit the car in front of me so hard he hit the car in front of him so hard it did a forward flip and flew out of the track.

Vertical parallel parking.
Also, the AI is completely bonkers. ...really irks me how I couldn't save that one replay. Ran an opponent off the track and crashed into a bus by doing so. He got so pissed he turned the car around and went the wrong way in an attempt to ram me. As I reset the car and sped off I caught a glimpse of someone going the wrong way, mauling through a row of benches. When watching the replay you could see he misjudged my speed. Upon realizing he was about to miss he pulled the e-brake and did a 180, missing my bumper by an inch. It was bananas yo.

It's a major bug in the game.AI is good though, probably the best in any racing game - it's like you're playing online! GFX look great, sound's ok as well.

Indeed, it's a shame that it doesn't have a replay editor of any kind, since it would've been a perfect feature for games like this. And agreed: the A.I. in Ultimate Carnage is excellent. Reminds me of F-Zero GX, and not shitty rubberband A.I. seen in the Burnouts / Motorstorm.VibratingDonkey said:1. No split-screen. No matter the excuse, this is always a downer.

The handling is fine. It takes a while getting used to them because it feels like the cars actually have some weight to them, but in the end it controls pretty smoothly. The physics can be a little bit buggy though (just like any game with physics really), but thankfully it's not that big of a flaw.flipswitch said:There are more than two things wrong with this game. The handling for one isn't that great, breaking and turning is quite stiff and also the physics in the game needs some work. How many times have things got stuck to my car, inlcuding other cars resulting in restarting the game? A few more modes (both single and multiplayer), 12 instead of 8 cars in the single player and a lot more objects with physics: as said before, some levels in 2 almost seem empty now. Online is (still?) tight as hell: hardly any lag whatsoever.radjago said:I can't believe they left the best part of the game out of the demo: The Mini-Games.
Any word on whether they've changed these from 2 or added more online integration?

I'm like "Fucking Jack Benton, you DICK" and then "I don't care who wins, as long as JACK FUCKING BENTON doesn't" ramming him off the track. Just by making one AI dominant, and of coruse giving them a name, face and colour of car, makes AI seem as annoying and competitive as your buddy on XBL. I love it, and I FUCKING HATE JACK BENTON
Sometimes I load it up just to smash his car.
More like Jack Bender... Gender Bender....
Lei Bing is equally annoying. What a fuckin' bitch.McBacon said:I love how the game, just like Super Mario Kart, gives you that rival in the cup modes. Andokuky said:I think it controls just as badly as it did on last gen systems. I don't know... it just feels way too tight. Landing jumps just feels entirely random. Some times you'll land, bounce a little and be on your way. Other times even if the jump is perfect, you'll land and start spinning like crazy and then get stuck on a wall or something. The derby mode seems much improved though.
Comparing apples to quarks here. To get a demo down to 150mb, it would be Tony skating in a single small room with no windows or doors.voltron said:Yeah Im cool with doing that too. It just seems so freaking ridiculous that the XBLA size is 150mb max but demos can go 1gb+.
THUG2 part 2 confirmed? If it's anything like that game, I'll assume it's complete shit.VALIS said:Yuck. Didn't like TH much at all. They're going for some gritty inner city feel, but the city is laughably simple and sparse, the skating is even more easy and exaggerated than in previous games, and there's still that stupid Jackass vibe. I liked Project 8 better, and that wasn't even that good.
