Xbox 360 Live demo availability thread

I don't know if I like this. I mean, the demo is downloading too fast. Doesn't give me time to mix up a nice gooey blender drink. Can't Microsoft get anything right?

When is GAF going to get their Multi-Prey on?

"Mojito. Mooojito."

:lol

Depending on what Vyse is up for, I'll be willing to play whenever. Not my type of game at all (not to say I suck. :) ) but you gimme the word and I'm there.

Any clue what the player cap is for the demo? Or if we can even create a GAF game?

25% to go.

63%.

Arne, what happened? Why aren't people crawling at 1% a minute?
Remember that XBox Live maintainance earlier this week that took Live down for a few hours? I wonder if there was some kind of hardware updgrade in a data center. Just speculating.

Hope you like it. Movie really moved me, man. I've been thinking about it all day today.

Wow, it' DLing fast too. 44% in under 10 minutes.

I think it can be officially concluded that the reason the Prey demo was delayed was because MS wanted to capitalize on 2 things:

1. The maintenance they did recently was to improve downloads.
2. To have something new and fresh over the holiday (Prey Demo, Chromoehounds Demo, Wimbledon TS2 demo, and COD2 content)

Nope. I had no clue. I probably didn't play anything then
and I was banned. =[

Arne, we demand
/ask very kindly for
answers!

Good job everyone... jinxing the fast download speeds by proclaiming it "fixed".
I'd say the initial fast speeds have more to do with your good timing (people still at work, low XBL congestion, not many people knowing it is available), than any magic :)

Wait 'til this evening when the rest of us 9 - 5 working folk want to download it :(

I've maintained good speeds throughout. =\

Yeah, I believe we did jump the gun. A lot of my Xbox Live friends are getting slow download speeds. Mine seems to have slowed a bit too, although it is at 73% and i started it about 25 minutes ago. That's fast for me.

I'm at 66% and it's been about a half hour. Although this is, I'm quite sure, the largest thing I've ever DLed off XBLM. So in that respect it is BLAZINOV.

Got to 54% quickly, then got stuck there for last 5 minutes. It took me 10 hours to DL the GRAW content. I think the Prey demo has its eyes on the record.

Sweeeet. Was listening to music while on the treadmill when I heard 'bleep' after 'bleep', so I knew something was up :lol Speed seems to be up there, as it's been maybe 10 mins and I'm over 20% complete. Hopefully I'm not hanging around at 99% for hours!

Just played through the entire single player demo and won a quick match of Multiprey.

The content is exactly the same as the PC demo. The graphics are also identical. Framerate is lower but a solid 30fps, and there is no screen tearing like on the PC. 5.1 sound is fantastic, and might be a reason to get the console version over PC if you don't have the setup on your computer.

MultiPrey actually runs smoother in this demo than on the PC.

Precisely why I will be purchasing the X360 version. Plus achievements.

K, beat the SP, lots of stuttering, decent atmosphere, the portal/gravity/size shit is cool. Outside of that it's just another FPS, really.

MP, same deal. Leaping around is cool, but it's little more than that. Fun for those who like this sorta thing.

Anyways, we gonna get a GAF game(s) goin'? Shall I go host? Add SnakeXs if you haven't already and if you want in.

Ignore this if while typing someone else arranged this shit. :)

Edit: Another HUGE thing... Is anyone noticing, in SP at least, that it's almost like a panoama stretch mode or something? Shit near the sides gets wider... Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't think so, and my/most TVs can't do any stretching to native/720p signals. Drove me NUTS in the bar.

Jesus, whatever maintenence they did to Live, if any really worked wonders, demo downloaded in 11 minutes.:lol But I can't play it tonight due to work in the morning! D:

Maybe y'all can help:

"HELPS!

I skipped out of the SP demo to play some Multi (WHICH IS BANANAS) but only after the SP had me completely stymied. I made it into those hallways around which all the soldiers are running back and forth on the walls but it seems like the only doors available are "Alien Only". Now I seem to just be going in circles (and not in the cool portal way).

Anyone got a hint?"

(And Snake, couldn't get in that room. Maybe next round?)

K, sorry guys about before. No clue what happened. Right when whoever said it was the worst game ever it froze. I think the game was insulted. =\

Hopefully a bit later we can get a game goin'.

Good game BirdieInsomnia. =P Hopefully you can get the router workin' better and you join us later.

Yeah, I found an excellent walkthough on Port Forwarding for my specific router and it all seems to at least hold together (as in, I was able to get back on Live afterwards). We'll put it to the test later on.

No kidding. I come home to all this "fast download talk" and I'm at 9% after about forty-five minutes.

Weird. A friend of mine got the whole thing in less than 25 minutes. He started it around 6 or so? Maybe a little earlier.

I came here to bitch at all the "fast dlers" and wow, you were even worse than me. It took me 45 minutes to an hour to DL this.

I d/l'd it around 5pm and it took about 30 mins. I guess that's pretty good. Now, I have to wait until tonight to get to actually try it out...

Demo was done in about 20 min. Demo lasted me a little more than an hour, but I immediately played it again.

I couldn't get it to work on Live.

PLEASE HELP ME.

How do you get out of those hallways the soldiers are all walking past? This is before you get a gun, before pretty much everything. It's after the first portal you experience. Basically a walkthrough for the ten minutes or so around this would be great. The only doors I can find are "Alien Only"

SOMEONE HELP. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I AM ASKING PEOPLE.

Graphics are better in the PC demo.. mainly the textures. There was some stuttering during scripted scenes.. and to get rid of screen tearing on PC, enable V Sync.

If its where I think it is, there is another one of those little archway portals that you have to walk around and crouch to get through.

Edit: Its in the room with the purple healing things.

Ironically, when I got home and downloaded, it took literally 15 mins, max... hah!
Thank you Optimum Online 15/2 service :)

Too bad the game doesn't quite seem worth it... playing around in the bar was more fun than the rest of the demo. The music in the jukebox rocks! It's like Doom 3, with bad art, terrible acting and a Native American theme. The spiritwalking is the most unique feature, along with the whole topsy turvy room rotating stuff.

At first, the movement/non-perfect framerate of the game (before even all the wall walking & rotation stuff) had me a bit feeling a bit quezy. I worked through it though.

Multiplayer was somewhat stuttery overall, but had a few good games going.

Right. I got to that one and it just led me to the same hallway I was in before. I'll try it again.

What the...

My download gets to around 65-67, then stops progressing. Has done this twice... Hopefully the third time's the charm.

so far its pretty good. Long as **** though i wish they would have put in some save points, even if its a demo. I had to leave my system on while i stopped to eat dinner. I'm liking it, but some of the final impressions/reviews will be the final judge as to whether or not i drop $60 on this.
