Xbox 360 Live demo availability thread

Once again, the complaints against are as I said. The game is not kind (and feels broken as a result) to those who do not know how to play.

oh yea and... 60 fps 60 fps 60 fps 60 fps 60 fps. FTMFW.

Can anyone get a reversal to work in the Smackdown demo? I just keep getting owned. fighting games suck where you're just tapping the button and hoping you can eventually get a move in.

Just tried the Sonic demo, wasn't as bad as I expected. I did fall to my death more times than I'm comfortable with. After getting used to them better, the controls aren't too terrible, but it feels like it just boils down to pressing the homing attack button at the right time. It's almost as if you were not even steering Sonic, just pressing a single button to a rythm. Not so good.

The FMV that plays from the title screen is terrible, though. The more of a storyline they try to have, the more ludicrous it all seems.

About the Sonic demo.. anyone think it could be the E3 or even pre-E3 build of the demo? Some things felt way too glitchy and incomplete such as animations. Also the fact that it's that same old jungle level we keep seeing could be more possible evidnce.

Hmm... I'm really hoping this is the case, since I was looking forward to the game. Especially since they brought back town exploration feature from Sonic Adventure 1.

It is the Sonic demo from E3 except its missing a chunk of the playable level, a whole other level, and the ability to play as Silver the Hedgehog.

yeah sonic sucked balls. Yeah I went there, how hard can it be to make the game just the slightest bit intuitive? I mean sonic adventure 2 came out 5 years ago, 5! I'd expect in that length of time they could have figured out a way to remove all the cheap glitchy deaths from this franchise. It took me 3 attempts to get through this 1 stage becuase the first 2 times I kept homing myself off a cliff becuase the game has no collision detection to prevent that. Also the wind chutes and rails made me worry about even pushing any buttons for fear that I wouldn't land back on them and again, fall to my death. Also the camera is atrocious. Sega should hand this franchise over to a developer that can clean this shit up. Also what was the deal with the music ? it sounded like bad rap.

basically left trigger for strikes right trigger for grapples

if you mash the buttons i think it penalize you (ie 1 shot at it, or your screwed) you can counter twice in grapples though once when they try the lock up and then once before they do the move within the lockup

just takes timing and all moves are different.

On the demo's attract screen it says the build is from August. Not saying it's the most current code, but I would assume they'd make a demo with at least some fixes since E3.

The demo does not bode well for the retail release. It sucks. Hard.

Sega should take a page from Nintendo's book (New Super Mario Bros.). Either that, or just let Nintendo develop the next 3D Sonic title because Sonic in 3D will never be as good as Sonic in 2D if they keep this up.

I kinda liked the Sonic demo. The controls were kinda iffy with the whole "accidently running off the edge of the earth" thing, but the music and "feel" were all there if you ask me. I was humming the music for like a half-hour after playing it. I actually got kinda excited for the full version until I remembered you gotta play as his stupid shitty pals for half the game.

I like the excessive load screens in Smackdown, it's just like the PSP one!

It's also funny that they're STILL recycling the same audience sign cards from Raw 2 on the Xbox :lol

I spent a bit of time with the Sonic demo today. It took me a while to get the controls down but once I did it was very enjoyable. It actually plays very smooth, there is a feel to the control scheme, a certain timing. I also liked the multiple paths. I have finished the demo using three different paths so far and I think I my son found another in a cave? It's definately not perfect but with a few tweaks it could be great.

With some major tweaks it might be playable - it's so broken now that it's hard to tell if there's a "great" game lying underneath all the control/camera/intuition problems. It honestly felt like a tech demo, which was weird because other than the wind surfing, there were no gameplay elements that weren't in several previous Sonic games.

Getting my hopes up should be a bannable offence

Can we NOT turn this into a thread where ONLY "Sonic demo out, here is a link to a topic to discuss it" posts are allowed?

For real, I got all excited when the thread was bumped... :(

And my opinion about the Sonic demo: I began to warm up to it, when I realised that the demo only really sucks because its so early and buggy - beyond that, it looks great, and it's a good start - after messing around a bit, you can see that there are so many ways to go through the level...

Well Pc version of Fifa 07 was released today.. in North America. I wonder when well get to touch the 3siddy version.

Oh, apologies for the thread bump. I just got around to playing the demo last night, so I searched for the thread about it and this was pretty much the place. I didn't realize it had been up for a couple of days.

Yes, because the one thing this forum need is to protect the fanboys who blow their wad at the very possibility of announcements or news.

this is the DEMO AVAILABILITY thread. people expect a new demo when it's bumped. get the **** out with your condescending shit.

I'm sure the mods disagree, but this thread should die and we should be allowed to make a new topic every week or two whenever they release a new demo.

They don't make the sales bitches keep all of their NPD monthly numbers running in one long continuous thread. Media Create numbers are allowed to be posted every week, in their own thread. We should be allowed to make a new topic every week about the newly released demo. Its ridiculous to have to keep one single running thread and trying to track it down every week, and then filter through several pages to see if your demo has been discussed or not.

Discussion threads for each individual demo are generally made anyways. This thread is just a nice little resource for demo-related stuffs, when it pops up unexpectedly in my User CP, that usually means a new demo is available, a far more convenient solution than just hoping I'll notice one of those individual threads.

When I searched for "Sonic demo" this looked like the most active topic on the matter, and I figured "oh, all the chatter got rolled into that topic." There was a specific thread about the Sonic demo, but it had been locked - which I thought was the mods saying "go to the demo thread."

I misinterpreted the purpose of the thread, and probably missed the specific thread about the Sonic demo - lesson learned. No need to change any rules/procedures.

it's okay man. i don't think we need to change anything either. it happens once in a while that the thread gets bumped for 'nothing' and people get a little upset. no big deal really. it should certainly not be a bannable offense.

Carbon looks like utter shit. Do I really need seven layers of vaseline smeared on the roads and landscape while I race?

Yeah the game is cool but the graphics look like shit man..

cool, I will download tonight.

This game will have to be pure magic to make me buy it at full price though. The missing leagues are almost inexcusable and with Pro Evo 360 around the corner the temptation to buy Fifa for 40 quid is small to non existant.

Sweet, downloading the demo now. I must admit I don't really mind the missing leagues. As long as the built in ESPN integration is extensive (clips and highlights perhaps?) I'll be a happy camper.

Kung, Although this is a blog site its linked from the official xbox360 UK page (where this guy works). Thats not to say he correct though.

Gamespot said it wouldn't be until November. Hopefully the Oct. date is right, but I'll believe it when I see it.
It's official, by Ubisoft. But yes, what Ubi says and when MS decides to put it online could not match.

Sonic was pretty awful

^ This was pretty much my opinion until I put some time into the demo. I couldn't understand how the controls could be SO bad. But then I stopped trying to roam around and just concentrated on going forward and speeding through the level, big difference. It seems to me it less about moving the stick then it is about hitting the right buttons. Of course the homing attack is key but so is using the X button to speed through a line of rings which just makes the game so much easier to control. When I did it right I got the ol' sonic 2d rush of speeding through the level. For instance at one point there was a line of rings followed by a group of robots. At first I was running through the rings, jumping and homing to kill the robots which would slo me down. But when I hit X before the rings I would zip through them and use the slide attack through the bots without skipping a beat. Shit I think I actually gained speed =)

Also, the amount of freedom the level gives you considering the speed is amazing. I must have played through it 20 times and never went the exact same route.

Don't write this demo off so quick!
