Xbox Fitness - Insanity - Preivew (IGN)

Might push me to XB1 - makes it easier to convince wives/gf's etc to buy it as well.

Wonder if Sony will come to regret not trying to continue to push and innovate with their motion tracking tech.

Amazing. He was dripping with sweat after that short workout. I can't wait for this, especially since it's free. The challenges seem really cool too. I'm really competitive and i think they push me to workout harder

This is realllly fucking rad. If I had my tv in a space with room enough to work out, this would be a HUGE plus on the xbox one side.

Quite frankly, this is fucking awesome. Good use of kinect. So if I already own P90, Insanity or TapOut, will I have to rebuy them on Xbox? Hopefully not.

You do not buy the workouts themselves. You get access to all the available workouts, so you will not need to rebuy anything.

And that's JUST the warm-up. I think we will see a big push for this AFTER Xmas actually. Apparently, fitness style producs have an upswing at the beginning of the year when everyone makes their new year's resolution (i'm going to get into shape THIS year). Thanksgiving and Christmas, everyone is too busy stuffing their faces with all those wonderful food to think about exercise. But come Jan 2nd and you try to get back into your clothes that you had been wearing only a few months before?

So after 2014 I wonder if it becomes a subscription model? A purchase? A quick look Amazon, and those programs are hovering around $140.

Heh. That's just the warmup section of that workout. He didn't even get to the opening stretch section.
Little bit of a worry that his form is sketchy at times and Kinect is still ranking him green, but not a deal breaker.

I'm in my second last week of Focus T25 right now, and I enjoy it a lot more than Insanity. I'm finding it easier and am getting better results. Insanity is still amazing though.

This was already a reason I was getting a Bone (aswell as a PS4), but it has also immediately relegated the Bone out of the lounge and into the family room.

Very cool and genuine advantage for the console. Interested to see if the ps camera can do something along those lines too.

I do think it's still limited in that it isn't giving accurate form feedback.

At this point, it's all speculation. I doubt MS even knows how it will handle the pricing. They will probably use the first year to look at usage and try to figure that out.

In the meantime I will use the hell out of this. When I look like Tony Horton and Shaun T combined in 2015 I will not care about whatever subscription fee they decide to add. ;)

Training video looks 480p.

Seriously though, this is pretty cool. I rarely use the gym in my building though, so I probably wouldn't use this much. :|

If I'm honest I have so little time for gaming that both of the next gen consoles look like no buys right now... but I must say that this sort of thing definitely has me prioritising the XB1 when I eventually pick up one of them.

If this works, and I mean every time, this could be a fucking killer app. The biggest problem with exercise programs is that it's too easy to cheat. If the kinect can actually keep you honest...that's huge.

This is super interesting.

This is gonna be huge, yo. Looks pretty nifty. What I like is that they've used real fitness videos and gamified them, rather than make some shitty "fitness game."

Like the run courses in Wii Fit that interprets arm movements as running.

I've already got Insanity, but this might eventually push me to get an X1. I've always been a one console person and have owned every Sony console, but if I look at the X1 as a fitness machine, then the price isn't all that bad.

I ripped all my insanity dvds to usb stick and use them daily on my 360. ive completed the workout 7 times through so im pro at this point but the added features in this would be a nice bonus.

have they said if the videos are stored on your xbox or if you have to stream them every time? I also really hope they re-encoded the original source because the insanity dvd video quality is pretty poor.

this is no wiifit or ea active, for those out of shape or wanting to maintain good shape these workouts are excellent. I highly recommend insanity even if you're a beginner.

That's just mean. :P

when I first started I was in the worst shape of my life. I needed breaks during the warm up. insanity is very hard and you wont be able to keep pace with the people in the video but as long as you do what you can do and don't half ass it you will improve. theres a lot of room to grow into the workout as its designed so that even pros will get a good workout.

Yep. I recommend Insanity too. I started on it and it's a great program, I've done it multiple times. I really want to get an Xbox just for the fitness aspect! Microsoft should really have a fitness bundle that includes like a two years fitness subscription or something. They really should be pushing it as it has high potential imo.

I would be shocked if MS doesn't have an Xbox fitness bundle for Christmas next year. They always have "casual gamer" bundle and a "hardcore gamer" bundle. I am certain that Xbox fitness will be in the casual bundle along with Kinect Sports.

wow, long work day, lttp on this video

but holy crap.

I already know its something my girlfriend and I will be able to do together, good job on MS getting this service together

Reaction from my gamer friend on skype who basically hates everything remotely involved in the world "athletics"

Him: This is pretty fucking cool‏
Hopefully its a good sign for things to come with kinect‏
May only do it just so I can have a high score

Me: Xbox Fitness Message Alert‏
Nilla Just beat your high score, suck it pussies‏

Him: I would make it my lifes goal to beat you‏

Thanks Xbox, for fostering friendship

Not even a full warm-up, 2/3rds of a warmup, muahahah :P

Didn't actually think about the timing of it. People should be all over these, come Jan-Feb.

Man, this is the most I've ever been excited about the XB1!

I'm so psyched for this, I've been doing Insanity and wanting to try P90X and Brazilian Butt Lift, and now I can do it for free (I was going to be a gold member anyway) instead of paying $100+ for each. The idea of being able to dabble in all these different ones and seeing what you like, and then having little challenges and the Kinect to check your form for you.. I can't wait!!

Standby mode for this will be perfect to keep a daily routine:

Come home from a long day at work, all tired...open door and see fried chicken left-overs on the table... however, you muster a few words: "Xbox On - Resume Xbox Fitness" and instantaneously jump back into the program where you left off.

No hassles. No wait. "Do your best and forget the rest. -- P90X"
