Xbox Home UI 2023 info and screenshot

Glad that's not final as it is horrific. They should make it like this:

So PS5 with the apps on the bottom instead of the top lol

With all the shit ps5 UI has gotten, its still the ideal layout as far as easily accessible content, snappiness, and overall negative space. Its nice to actually be able to see a nice big 4k background featuring the game

as long as i can pick a game to play or buy one with ease then i don't really give a shit. i don't buy a console to do anything other than that. if they want to revamp it again or stuff it full with ads then they can knock themselves out.

Dear me. That cant be the same team who made the 360 dashboards surely.
Ads festival focused around Game Pass. Hopefully the whole recommendation system is better than the actual one. At least games library and store are fast (again (for a few updates until they fuck performance up (again))).

I hate it.

I like the current lay out.

Too big (tile wise).

I'd best be able to delete that 'Most Popular - Game Pass' row and keep my existing pinned groups in the order I like.

I'm going to reserve judgment until I get to use it. PS5 looks nicer than Xbox right now (especially the colours, which pop a lot more for some reason) but I hate using it, whereas Xbox looks a little kiddy and 'Tomy's My First Console' but is a dream to use…

I don't see a Great Leap Forward in the new versions screenshots, but I assume they have a reason for doing it, so I'll wait and see.

The Xbox UI is easily the worst of all three current gen consoles in my experience with many of the main features such as the Store (which is *always* being updated for some reason on my system...) beings apps that have to load adding to the sluggish feel compared with the PS5 where the Store and other features are built into the operating system and immediately available. Also, the Xbox Store is an ugly mess with a horrible font and a cluttered layout that jars with the rest of the UI. The System menu is also poorly designed with lots of wasted space and doesn't show the theme background so feels separate from the UI elsewhere.

The PS5 UI is hardly perfect either but it is leagues ahead of the Xbox with fewer ads and it feels super slick and responsive. It feels current gen standard. The Xbox UI just feels like a slightly faster version of the last gen one, now with 4K support for extra sharpness. Like Windows, it lacks a consistent design theme. Of course, the Xbox has better copy/move functionality which works in the background unlike the laughable wait-until-completed system on the all-powerful PS5 that seemingly cannot multitask! Also, the Xbox has much better support for external devices - I have two external SSDs connected to my Series X for example which is something you cannot do on PS5 as it is limited ridiculously to supporting only one external drive (so you cannot have movies/music on one, to bypass the need to stream over Wi-Fi, and PS4 games on another).

Both systems need improvements to their software and features in my opinion but overall the weakest part of the Xbox is its lacklustre UI. Final point, is the feature to download game updates rarely works on Xbox Series X even though I use the normal rest mode with the drive support enabled. Everytime I turn the console on and check Updates manually there's stuff that is ready to download, including updates to the Maps, Weather and, yes, Store apps, and I don't think anything ever downloads while the console is in standby mode. On PS5 though it does as the console handily pops up the notifications telling me exactly what has been updated since I last used the console. On Xbox you do not get this.

Klobrille has a better interpretation of what the new UI should be with just some slight tweaks and some of the staff on the project reacted to his post with 👀 emojis. Should just hire the guy already as he does a better job then they do.

So insiders have confirmed that you can no longer customise your homepage, it's basically your last 5 games at the top and then everything underneath is Game Pass.

Holy fuck Microsoft, you are so fucking shit at UI design. Finally get it right and then just think to yourself 'how can we now make this utter shite?'.

Well good job I suppose.

I think it is the first "beta", let's not jump to conclusions

I am pretty sure that "pinning" will return in next versions (before wide official release)

[*]The new "Jump back in" row gives you quick access to your most recently played games and apps.

Holy jesus fucking finally

A horizontal row of most recent games has been my only wish for years and years.

Shouldn't have taken 84 years but finally Xbox seems to have an equally usable basic interface like PS5 and Switch.

this has been part of the Xbox One UI for so long I can't even tell you when it was implemented. maybe 5 years ago?

and even before that you had a big icon/screen in the middle and the most recent games below that in a horizontal row.

and the only difference between that image of the new dashboard and the current one is that the icons look slightly different and there's not a store button next to the library button, that's about it.

Bring Back the Blades of the 360 just make it snappy and more visually appealing. Windows 8 has cursed Microsoft UI until present

I just want more game slots on groups. (You can insert just 40 games in each group).
I use groups as folders to organize my games on the front page.

well Windows 11 has a new design, kinda weird that they don't make it look more like that and instead keep the Tiles of Windows 8

Personally don't care but, I also don't understand why people care as much as they seem to.

I think the current one is fine and this looks... pretty much the same.

They seemed to have subtly made everything just a bit worse. Blink and you'd be forgiven for thinking it's the same old UI (which is fine in my opinion).

It also looks like Game Pass threw up over everything and if you're not subscribed, 90% of the tiles will essentially be an advert for something you don't have.

The tab just doesn't exist anymore, there's no way (I haven't used an Xbox in Over a year) to see all your friends activity in one location

you can pin a community tab on your home screen... so yes there is a way to have that in one location.
