More like Kinrekt
I don't really understand what MS was thinking with Kinect 2.0." Everybody will have one but we won't be making much for it".
My family liked the sports games and Dance Central a lot.
How about bringing 360 Kinect game compatibility to the one somehow? Either letting the old Kinect work, or letting 360 games work on the new one.
Having them incompatible sucks.
Funny you say that when they recently allowed any 3rd party camera to be used with the XB1. Why not the original Kinect?
Kinect's biggest mistake was not ditching the camera altogether. They should have used an external mic for voice commands and be done with it. That would have significantly lowered the added cost to the XB1 which was the biggest issue for Kinect.Kinect's biggest mistake was not being 60fps or more.
On Xbox One it was over engineered when they could have just up the resolution & tracking speed & made it useful for head tracking & things like that.
It sold on the potential of what people thought it could be. Then the reality hit and few wanted to pay a $100 premium for it. That's why the XB1 version bombed so hard.We may all laugh at the demise of Kinect, but the gadget sold near to 30 million and probably millions of software.
Were there any solid games for the xbox one that used this? I would buy one if it did anything dope.
Co.design is reporting that the Kinect is no longer being manufactured. It was fun while it lasted, but this was bound to happen. Multiple people reporting it on twitter as well.

I had torn mine down off the TV about a month after the XBO launch. Imagine how much the XBO would have cost at launch without it.
It was fun while it lasted,
A great piece of tech no one cared to bother to make good stuff for because I came out at the time most games went to shit because of yearly releases and super outsourcing.
When I see things like the dad using the Kinect to create a prosthetic for his kid it really bums me out at the possibility for this tech that was wasted on gaming or lack of gaming.
After absolutely loving my 360, couldnt believe all the BS coming out of his mouth when they announced it. Kind of saw the transition towards the end of 360 but never would of thought. Finally bought one once they released it w/o Kinect. Barely ended up playing it besides exclusives bc PS4 played games so well. They won me over with the X tho. Cant wait for it to become my 3rd party/MS exclusive box. Texture work on AC:Origins looks NUTS w/the extra 4gb if available RAM.This guy completely squandered the momentum 360 accumulated, gave Xbox one a sluggish start.
Which was the problem when you are trying to sell a gaming device. People didn't want to pay an extra $100 for that, and the Kinect didn't do most of that stuff anyway. Microsoft never made a good case why anyone would want to pay extra for the Kinect. Even today very few people have home automation. Changing your channel isn't a problem in search of a $100 solution and it only worked for live TV anyway. Finally, ordering food, Uber, and so on are better done on an app on your phone. The device was not in the slightest about gaming this generation. That was merely a side effect.
It was designed to control your home automation, change your channels, order you food or an Uber. And for people to develop for it it, everyone had to have it connected.
You realize the Amazon Echo doesn't cost anywhere near the $500 the XB1 originally sold for right? You now know Kinect as Amazon Echo, a hugely popular device thats sold millions and millions.
...
Just remember that every time you call Alexa, it should have been Xbox.
The XB1 was $100 more expensive because of the Kinect. That is the whole point. If the XB1 sold for $399 at release like the PS4 then your argument would have some merit. Without that, the XB1 was facing a PS4 that cost less and was better at its primary reason for being...playing games. With Microsoft giving up much of their exclusive gaming capability to differentiate itself, the PS4 was the objectively better choice for most gamers based on hardware gaming capabilities alone. I say this as someone who was an Xbox fanboy last generation. Sony didn't do anything to Microsoft. Microsoft did it to themselves. The PS4 succeeded with the mainstream, at least in North America, not because of 1080p, but because $100 more expensive and a legion of Gamestop employees trashing Xbox.
This guy completely squandered the momentum 360 accumulated, gave Xbox one a sluggish start.
THAT FACE!......Well at least things turned out well for him at Zynga......
