Xbox One Coming to 26 new markets in September

logical. by then they could iron out the OS for each market and do a pack-in (titanfall?) plus a lower entry point price to go along with ample supply. Let's face it, the XB1 is in beta test mode right now as a product. Better to let it cook some more.

"Beta tested in the future" so really we're more of the alpha test

Xbox One comes out in Japan right after the Tokyo Game Show.
I wonder if they'll make an appearance there.

Pretty sure Microsoft hasn't missed a single TGS in the past few years, though I could be wrong. Would be ultra dumb if they aren't there this year.

It's kind of blowing my mind they can't get their shit together quicker than this. It's almost like they're saying "Please Sony, go and dominate most of the world with the PS4 this gen".

Are they going to be able to manufacture the eighty units they'll need for this roll out?

Seriously, why has this taken so long? Have they said? Speech recognition?

Speech was the officially reason back when the first delay happened, and it turns out it might have been true and not based in supply constraints considering the September launch now.

Absolutely dead on arrival here. Why even bother?

What's even more weird is that the console is readily available in most of the EU countries that are tier 2.

September? On the positive side, that's my birthday. On the negative, are you fucking joking?

Media-Markt seems full of grey stock in most European countries so I'm sure they'll be delighted for MS to hold off a proper launch until then. Was there a brainstorming session where someone thought, hey let's try our best to sell less than the WiiU?

Great, thank you for posting fellow GAFfer.

It's going to be very interesting. I can't wait to see how this will work in Portugal. As someone who likes to play games no matter the platform I'm curious to see how this will go. Last year I went to a meeting on the Microsoft HQ and I learned so much from them (also got a nice recommendation letter, yay!). I was humble enough to keep them with a fresh memory of my contribution so I'll be sure to see if I can discover/learn how the Marketing and product planning will work in this territory this time. Wish them good luck in here, it's not going to be easy but it should be interesting.

Jeez september. I would have thought like...now it'd be out in most places, if not all.

The remnants of shitty MS. Guess we really know what they think of their "2nd tier", ha ha.

Honestly...how can anyone support this company, ha ha. Their whole attitude just plainly stinks, I question whether they still "deserve" their place in the games industry (Like you need more than money to be in it, ha ha)

I think the Xbox brand is fine, just I don't think MS is fine for Xbox anymore, no sure whether it'd happen, but all for it being sold to someone else, perhaps Amazon, but not sure if they'd be much better really, I can imagine them operating similar to MS, but they have a clean slate, so better than a dirty one. The sad thing is I think its kinda....interesting for Xbox to aim to be more than a gaming system and try and be an "all in one device", I think MS just made a crucial error, the balance just doesn't seem quite right to me, that combined with the hurricane of bad attitude throughout the X1 reveal made things even worse.

I still believe ntkrnl. Most likely things changed after he relayed the info.

Yeah, just thinking his info was outdated is all. So in-dev games I believe but not too sure about everything else. Microsoft still needs to clear stock of the Xbox One so until then im not expecting the White Xbox One.

Unfortunately for many countries official prices are often more expensive.

Damn, didn't know that. Well, at least they're actually bothering to release it, despite the fact that they'll probably end up spending more money marketing it in these countries than they'll make back due to the PS4 running unchallenged for 10 months.

The 'feel' of PS3 launch.

Launching almost a year later in their weaker markets. Nowhere close to PS3's one-year late launch, but this makes for a good sense of it.

I'm very curious to see how it will sell in Japan.

Nope, many of these countries aren't really getting any real marketing money.

Tier-2/3 countries ( except for Japan ) are small markets that are highly enthusiast-driven that takes 3-4 years before the mainstream starts buying in decent volumes. Local launches are merely to establish a support system, and our countries don't really get a lot of marketing, if at all.

Stuff like PSN/XBL discounts are a rarity here, and games prices are often high, and take a long, long time to drop.

Well, I guess I'll buy one the next time I'm in the U.S., since I imagine the price here in Norway will be outrageous. September is later than I was hoping for to get official support, but I guess it is what it is.

China is a huge market that could potentially boost the sales of the consoles yet gets overlooked many times.

The same was said for India.

Barely a blimp. A million console sold after 10 years in a market of 1 billion.

And I'm talking about the most successful console ever, the Playstation 2.

So a year late with more expensive and otherwise inferior product. I don't even know why they're bothering. This reminds me of 360 -> PS3 in more ways than one. The only redeeming factor XBONE has going for it is Quantum Break but even with that I don't know. Have they talked if it's a similiar deal to Alan Wake meaning that it could have a chance of getting a PC release later? Or has MS locked down exclusivity with that one?

I thought the rumors about Xbox One launching after summer was just some mean spirited talk from people who don't like MS. Amazing that it's real.

It is devastating to Microsoft. They are literally handing this gen over to Sony by launching so late. European gamers are Sony's to do with as they wish.

For the US/UK

But I honestly think the Xbox one is going to need far more to convince people in the rest of the world, given that in none-english speaking countries there is little to no value in Xbox live in comparision.

Even at 600 euro's people bought the PS3 over the 360. I really dont think there is anything Microsoft can do to win T2 EU countries.

I had no idea so many European countries didn't have the console yet. Embarrassing.

eager to see what SKU will end up being shipped.

IF MS has any intention of downplaying Kinect it's september 2014 or never.
