That's a bullshit. Then it is a very poorly developed multiplatform engine.Simple as it comes.

Of course, without deferred light could hit 1080p but about the 60 fps, well, I don't see to happen to see a 60 fps at 1080p here. It's quite tough on ps4 too.
Guys... this is not for "closing the gap" between XB1 and PS4.
This is "just" for getting more from the XB1 hardware.
How could this simple (and positive) thing become the subject of critics?
December update also gave games back another cpu core from snap...snap now uses only 1 core
I hope this regular SDK Update will mark some improvements on older titles if possible. Always good to see MS constantly updating the Dash stuff and the development software.
This game it's 1080p and 60 fps. To me it's impressive on ps4 just for this. Yeah probably lack of tons of tech stuff but Jeez it's a sticky 60 fps, you know any other game like this on ps4?Quite tough ? I've played GZ on PS4 and I couldn't notice any frame drops, the game does not tax the console hard at all which bodes well for the improvements of the PC (better LOD, SSR, better AO) to be implemented on both consoles.
The game has assets made to fit within the 360/PS3's limitations and while it can look pretty good at times it's far, very far from being a technical tour de force. I'm talking about GZ as it exists and what I've seen of TPP.
The game does not tax modern PC GPUs much at all either so there is room left there as well for more impressive tech.
I love how this is a thing now from microsoft.
"We've increased the pooooooooowazzzzzzz!!!! to maximum!!!!!"
Quite sad really. But in marketing terms they're onto a winner as people then believe its on par with ps4.
If Phanton Pain is 720p that the Fox Engine is just complete crap.
We know 1080p are often possible but 900p are possible every time for new releases.
Because that's totally what MS did and not Techland. Oh wait...I love how this is a thing now from microsoft.

This. Kojima simply doesn't care about Xbox users. Konami does, and that's why the game comes out on Xbox too, but Kojima and his team will be doing just the bare minimum on the console.Naah.
Kojima + Xbox.
I won't get my hopes that high.
I wouldn't call an engine, designed for multi platform use, a good engine when it has problems with one of the new consoles. That's a bullshit.
Meanwhile at Sony...
Every single thread that's about SDK performance improvement will have folks saying it's closing the performance gap. Every single one of them.

What's sad is your reading comprehension, if you didn't even notice it isn't MS talking.Quite sad really
Right. Console are so close that everytime MS needs to release a regular update about the state of SDK to show how much close they are. Why?The "performance gap" at launch was due to a bunch of things raw power being one of them. That can't change. The rest of the reasons can and are being addressed which is why the perfromance gap has been shrinking lately.
I know some people have it in their head that the PS4 is far and away in a different class than Xbox, but reality is they are very close in both power and capability.
Really? How can you tell?Hardly any games even made use of the last big SDK update that removed the Kinect motion control from games that didn't need it.
I think I've only seen destiny actually make use of that, even Forza Horizon 2 was still using Kinect. Halo 5 beta still has kinect enabled.

That was a pretty big update to the PS4's SDK but I don't remember seeing any thread for it here.

Blame the console not the engine. Bottleneck are everywhere like the ps3 but this time there isn't extra resources to cover the problems.I wouldn't call an engine, designed for multi platform use, a good engine when it has problems with one of the new consoles.

You're very easy to impress then. Maybe I'm deluded but I still believe the PS4 is capable of significantly more than this even at 60fps. The game looks last-gen no way around that, it's not surprising to me at all that the PC version is so light on the hardware. A core I3 can sustain 60fps.This game it's 1080p and 60 fps. To me it's impressive on ps4 just for this.
Admittedly I haven't played much (probably 30 min or so) but the latest COD runs at 60fps consistently (SP). There may be more I'm forgetting but I'd not consider running a game like GZ at 60fps an achievement. I'm not knocking the game, I loved it and I think it can look pretty good at times but overall it is not a tech showcase. We can thank the 360/PS3 for that I guess. I understand the economics at play but I really wish it was exclusive to modern x86 platforms.Yeah probably lack of tons of tech stuff but Jeez it's a sticky 60 fps, you know any other game like this on ps4?
I have not seen any regular updates from Microsoft. Both times it was devs who revealed it in interviews. And I'm sure there's been plenty other upgrades/updates to the tools that we never have or never will hear about.Right. Console are so close that everytime MS needs to release a regular update about the state of SDK to show how much close they are. Why?
It's a linear game, quite more easy to optimize. Both Metro games are fantastic, and locked at 60fps.

GZ it's 60 fps sticky, never drops. Maybe sometimes. COD on ps4 it's like COD on 360, far away to 60 fps sticky. In all honesty I have seen just Nintendo game run that good on console. If you ask me it's not a secondary achievement. You're very easy to impress then. Maybe I'm deluded but I still believe the PS4 is capable of significantly more than this even at 60fps. Right, but Sony do talk about their SDK improvements. We heard a bunch about them just last month.Just because Sony don't advertise their SDK improvements, doesn't mean they don't happen.

I don't remember so much statements about SDK update in the 360 era. Please don't tell me it's a coincidence. MS tries to cover at the best the gap with the ps4 hardware with those constant update, isn't it a clear admission?I have not seen any regular updates from Microsoft. Both times it was devs who revealed it in interviews. And I'm sure there's been plenty other upgrades/updates to the tools that we never have or never will hear about.
This is all normal it happens every generation.
And Sony detailed their SDK improvements recently. Why?
"Performance gap is narrowing!"
*Gives example of GTA5 which has clear GPU superiority for PS4*
Resolution and framerate don't make things equal pals. There's no overcoming a GPU disparity of 50 percent.
Then it is a very poorly developed multiplatform engine.Simple as it comes.
Really ? Well as I said I didn't play much there may be some truth to that. I think it's a more impressive achievement even with a few drops than GZ and what I've seen of TPP (because I'm not claiming the game won't look any better by the time it launches). Obviously I'm aware we are talking about a "corridor" shooter vs a more open world game, still I think there is definitely potential to come up with a more technically profficient game.COD on ps4 it's like COD on 360, far away to 60 fps sticky.
You've got to look at what Nintendo games push in terms of tech, it's not in the same league as what is on display on Xbox One/PS4 or modern DX11 PCs. Nintendo deserve respect for sticking to 60fps which, in my opinion, hugely benefits gameplay but tech wise their game are not impressive in the least and therefore it's no wonder they run at 60fps.In all honesty I have seen just Nintendo game run that good on console. If you ask me it's not a secondary achievement.
So it's a bad thing now when companies improve their products over time?I love how this is a thing now from microsoft.

Last time I checked that engine is the only one having major problems with the Xbox One.Blame the console not the engine. Bottleneck are everywhere like the ps3 but this time there isn't extra resources to cover the problems.
But that coding to the metal and no Windows overhead! To be fair, according to Passmark, an i3-4330 has better multithreaded performance than two Athlon 5150s stuck together.
It's a linear game, quite more easy to optimize.
I understood perfectly your priorities but with all respect, the tech mixed to the fps achievement in GW, it's not exactly that common to reach on console. I will be happy when another developers show me something better of GZ at 1080p 60 fps. Maybe ND.Really ? Well as I said I didn't play much there may be some truth to that. Frankly, as much as I love to get as close to 60fps as I realistically can on PC if I were to develop a console game I'd make it 30fps in order to maximize assets quality.
We didn't hear so much about a performace gap then either, even though a lot of games were further apart than most games this gen. For whatever reason this gen has produced a fervor over perfomance comparisons that we have not seen in the past. Which is why publications are more likely to ask and then publish the answer they got. This story isn't Microsoft trying to cover anything up. It's a 3rd party dev answering a question.I don't remember so much statements about SDK update in the 360 era. Please don't tell me it's a coincidence. MS tries to cover at the best the gap with the ps4 hardware with those constant update, isn't it a clear admission?
