Xbox One headsets/headphones

I'm really interested in knowing how these adapters could varying so much from user to user. I even tried two different adapters and had the exact same results, on two different controllers.
I wonder if it has its roots in the software/wireless connection/cpu load??? and thats why the issue jumps around alot.

I updated the controller right after connecting the adapter and still notice the crackling.

I'm still not 100% decided. Xbox one headset or XO four? Is one more comfortable than the other?

I have the 4-Shots and didn't have any crackling. I can confirm that my mic volume was low. But, it was also low when I used it on a phone, so not sure how Polk is going to fix that via an Xbox adapter update.

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with my setup. Suddenly I'm hearing in game voice chats through my surround sound instead of my headset. I'm using the headset that came with the system, the system also isn't picking up my voice through the mic, it is connected all the way since it does light up when I press the mute button. I can't find any options in the systems settings to help.

I've had that problem. Try unplugging the headset and plugging it back in, or turning the controller off and on.

Did both a million times, even changed the batteries. I'm going to just hold the systems power button down for 30 seconds or whatever since that reset has fixed so many problems in the past. =[

Ok I guess you can use anything with the ps4. Ordered the official Microsoft cans and going to stick with my beats for ps4.

The only problem with this, is a lot of the Xbox one headsets don't have the volume control on the headset itself. So when using on Ps4 you need to go into the menu every time to adjust the sound.

I don't think the beats have volume control either on the headset.

Cool, so does it just really come down to which headphones you prefer?

Also, does anybody anticipate seeing these in stores any time soon? I'd really like to try some of them out before committing.

Anybody have a problem with your controller disconnecting, even though the light it still on, and it won't reconnect without pulling batteries and turning it back on?

This just started happening to me after I started using the headset adapter.

I updated the firmware when it prompted me after plugging in my headset and adapter.

Yes, I've had something like this occur. It was almost like the controller was glitching out, and it actually popped up a message saying I should update the controller. Of course I already had, but I tried again and it said the controller was updated.

Nope. It pisses me off, actually (at him, not you). It's like asking if the console is plugged in. There's a freaking sticker on the adapter telling us to update - it was literally the first thing I did after getting the headset.

I've had no issues with the XO7s, though I am a bit annoyed that I can't adjust the game volume and chat volume separately. I mean when I'm using them I can just set the volume to preferred chat volume then adjust master volume in game but it sure is annoying.

Happened to me once but I think its because I went downstairs to use the bathroom, I don't think it likes losing signal.

ok so im an idiot and i don't need an adapter because the cord carries audio and chat the splitter is just optional but now i have another issue the mic won't pick up my voice unless i am really loud and my friends say they can't hear me when it does pick up my voice but it does work on my pc. Any ideas on what could be the issue? the headset is a razer kraken pro

It won't help for current owners, and it quotidian be a massive pain for Microsoft. But would it be possible to change the bundle contents and change the headset slightly? They did something similar when they introduced the chat pad...

Make the standard head set have a stereo / mono jack only. Include the adapter in the box bundle and new set packages. The updated set can be plugged into the adapter. Or, if someone owns their own headset they can unplug the mono and use the adapter. This would aldi facilitate the use of a new chat pad if someone didn't want to use smart glass.

Yeah I posted the tweet before looking at the link. I thought he was posting a link to some new update specifically addressing the issue. Instead it just looks like he links to the general "how to update your controller" page -_-

Picked up the Xbox one headset. Very comfy, sound great.(I'm no audiophile mind you). Sound is crisp and clear. Gonna try them on the ds4 too see how they are. Happy so far.

I've had this problem the last two nights. In total, my controller has "disconnected" four times in the middle of online matches. Super annoying.

What needs to happen is a controller S for the Xbox one. Make some small adjustments to it like having the 3.5mm jack build in without the adapter and some other small improvements.

While I do like the adapter it doesn't work correctly all the time and that is a big issue to me. This should have been ready day one and worked perfect.

I have a question about Microsoft's Xbox one Stereo headset.

I want to have a headphone that microphone compatible on both Xbox One and PS4. Some ear/headphones, for example, Apple's earpods doesn't support microphone function on PS4, even this has 3.5mm plugs. It was pretty sad to me. :(. So I should be careful before select proper headset.

The point is... Is MS's official Xbox one steret headset's microphone works both PS4 or Xbox one? (I know official headset works 3.5mm plug, with xbox one headset adapter.)

Just happened to me too, first gaming session with the headset adapter. I didn't need to pull the batteries, but the light stayed on the whole time during a disconnect. It felt like the controller had crashed.

Cat,

There is a detachable 3.5 mm cable that can be plugged into any 3.5mm jack so, yes, it can work on dualshock4. Only thing is you will have to adjust voice chat volume in ps4 device settings which may or may not be an issue for you.

Oh, I see. I glad to hear that This also works on PS4. So Apple's earpod is special case, right?

Thanks to reply.

Ok, tested the Xbox One headset on the PS4. Played some BF4, worked flawless, sound just as good (without the crackling and popping too). This is a great headset for both consoles. Hope MS sorts out the sound issues with the Xbox one, not really bad but its noticeable.

Now have the adapter and using xp510 turtle beaches working like a charm. Turned down the stereo sound and turned up the surround sound of the xp510. My buddies said I sound great on it. Very pleased with it

My controller crashed last night mid game as well. I also had my console stop outputting optical audio. We're beta testing in the future.

I've been using the Xbox One official headset for 2 days now and it's great. Made better, it uses 3.5mm so you can use it on the PS4 controller or on PC.

So I bought a PX51 and a headset adapter because I really wanted to have a wireless surround sound setup. Hooked the headset base to the optical out on the X1 and the headset to the adapter via the included mobile cable. Changed the sound output on the console to bitstream.

Played about 2 hours of Titanfall and everything seemed to be working as expected. Was in a party with one other friend and he said I sounded fine. No popping or crackling at all on my end and I'm usually pretty sensitive to hearing things like that.

The only real issue was trying to find the right balance of sound/chat and with separate game and chat controls on both the headset and adapter, this a bit more cumbersome than expected. I am going to do some more thorough testing over the weekend before I decide whether or not to keep the headset, but the first impression was more or less positive.

Welp, my XO7s stopped working completely last night. I heard a loud beep and then no sound whatsoever. I power cycled the controller and console several times, and no change.

I'm chalking this one up to Microsoft's piece-of-crap adapter. I'm taking them back and will wait until they sort this ish out.

If your PX51 work like my Turtle Beach X41, then you'll want to turn the game volume all the way down on the headset adapter so it's only passing chat to your headset.

Then, you'll be able to adjust chat volume with the adapter and game volume with your headset.

XO fours are pretty solid, they sound good when they are working right, Microsoft needs to address these adapter issues because the cutting out and popping is unacceptable when I spend $100 on a headset.

Question:

If I use one of these, will I be able to use the polk/official headset/etc. on PC? Do I even need them in the first place? More importantly, has anybody else used the polk or others on PC yet?

I've returned a pair of Polk 4Shots and two pair of TB XO Sevens. I'm sure Amazon hates me right now, but I'm simply not paying $160 for a product that doesn't work as expected,

Thought it was the adapter, but I'm getting crackling and popping when doing bitstream out and the headset adapter unplugged. Doesn't happen on any other console. I'm using HDMI for my audio. Gonna check if occurs on optical. Anyone else?

I have the Tritton Pro + headset, and im picking up the adapter today. Will this chat cable work with the adapter. The 3.5 jack goes in the headset, and im hoping the 2.5 m end will go in the adapter am i correct?
