Xbox One now $349 from 16th January

"Xbox One became the best-selling console in the U.S. in November and December and weekly average sales during these months outpaced Xbox 360 by 50 percent at the same point in its lifecycle.*"

Knowing this we can figure out how much the Xbox One sold in December.

So still not permanent?

Why with all the pussyfooting, just keep it $349 already. Continuing to raise the price back up like this on a national scale will be extremely toxic to public perception in the future.

edit: my comment in the other thread was merged into this one I see. Enjoy my slightly expanded insight on the matter a second time :P

Why call it a promotion? Might so well just announce it as an official price drop.

Because then that would take away the "since you have been enjoying these promotions so much we are making it officially the price from here on out" moment of some press conference in the future.

The past year was a fantastic one for the video game industry – and Xbox One ended 2014 with an unprecedented holiday season, becoming the best-selling console in the U.S. in November and December.*

There is an asterisk in the quote.... don't know what the asterisk means as there is no footnote on the webpage that it links to... So, there is some sort of caveat. Does anyone know or have any guess what it might be?

"Johnson! What are our numbers since we brought the Xbox One back to its regular price?"

"Uh...its zero, sir."

"Zero units sold so far today?"

"Um...no, sir. Zero units sold since we raised the price."

"We didn't raise the price. We were ending the promotion!"

"Okay, sir. What would you like us to do?"

"Isn't it obvious? Run another promotion!"

"Right away, sir."

Someone put together a non-promotional pricing calendar for Xbox One this year, throw a bone to the customers.

If you would like to pay full price of $399 for an Xbox One in these here United States of America in the year 2015, do so on these dates:

March 3-5
April 19,22-25
May 30
June 15-30
July 4
September 9-14
Thanksgiving Day (Wal-Mart only)

It was full price for 12 days. Making it a promotion allows them to tout "Special price. Get it before it's too late."
