This is as deceptive as anything MS puts out. And there is not a problem with either.
Neither are nice when they are top dog. Sony I would say is not as bad but they still are bad. And hell, they are stupid about things even when not top dog (they love their proprietary stuff).

Sony has been the best selling all since launch, is this not correct? Despite the couple months per year that MS "wins" the NPD.

Xbox counts slim sales as Xbox one sales. Sony does the same with ps4 and pro. Sony outsells both consoles worldwide by a fair margin, so they are stating that they are the best selling worldwide just like when MS outsells for a month, they make a similar claim.
Overall, the Xbox one and one S has been outsold worldwide though. Not sure what's confusing tbh.

If you narrow it down to consoles being sold right now, the PS4 is still behind the 3DS.

The Xbox ad was for the four months they came out on top in the US, July, August, September and October.
Edit: wrong about how many months.
Someone bumped this thread because Sony updated their FB to show "best selling" instead of making a new thread because... well who knows probably to cause a stir.

Just both companies making bold claims. When Xbox made the statement, they were indeed the best selling console in the US, Sony was still winning worldwide though.

I already regret participating.
Based on my co-workers and their kids, it feels like this is the xmas they are upgrading from the 360 to the one s, b/c of price, and b/c of some games not coming out on the 360 anymore.
I won't be surprised if it's the same way around for the ps4 as well.

Why bring up old consoles to make a very flaud point? PS2 is old and 3ds has at least a 2 year head start. Since you brought up PS2 isn't PS4 almost in line with PS2 sales in same time frame?
The 3DS isn't even considered a console.
