My top title is Smash Bros Brawl at 223 hours which is way out in front since my second title, Mario Kart Wii, is only at 90 hours.
If you could somehow add DS titles then Pokemon Platinum would be at the top since I just hit 500 hours of game time yesterday

So I haven't really paid much attention to Wiiware outside of downloading Dr Mario when it first came out and the LostWinds series but I recently saw a video for a a game called Rubik's Puzzle Galaxy: Rush and it looks like a pretty cool game (In a Chu Chu Rocket kind of way) and I might get it.
If I buy 1000 wii points to get it though, I have 400 left. I can use the stars catalogue to boost that up to 600 so I can get another game so what 600/500 point game do you guys recommend?
I was looking at the Art Style games because those are meant to be pretty cool but I'm not sure which is best, and I know that Bit Trip Beat is meant to be amazing but I played the demo and I could see myself having more fun with a puzzle game unless Beat changes later in the game from the moving up and down to hit blocks that the demo consisted of.

One thing I noticed about the new Nintendo channel. The save file is no longer 126 blocks; only 11 (I did delete the save beforehand as I had a feeling something like that would happen so if you still see a 126 block file that is your reason).

Also I've been waiting to compare the Nintendo Channel playtimes with my own (compiled from homebrew app; playstats). Here are the results (I only picked a few things to work with to keep it simple):
Code:
Game |NC times |PS times
--------------------------------------------------
Zelda TP | 2m 2 times| 33s 3 times
FF Fables |33hr 52m 20 times|32hr 43m 34s 29 times
FE RD |50hr 27m 17 times|50hr 40m 27s 34 times
iPlayer | 6hr 04m 5 times| 6hr 6m 26s 6 times
Wario SD | 5hr 00m 7 times| 5hr 4m 6s 8 times
The differences are simple and unsurprising really. Playstats reads the full 20MB message board file to get stats exact to the second while the Nintendo channel only uploads the summary (the Today's Achievements on the message board i.e. the only stats an end-user sees) and must simplifies it slightly (maybe it tallies up all the play on a day for a game and counts it as one time...that would explain the differences in number of times played).

FF fables is the only one I have no explanation for. A wholes hours discrepancy can't be accounted for by rounding minutes (which is basically all the other differences). I'll have to chalk that down to user error (writing it down incorrectly).

I'm a big fan of Cubello. Orbient is good too, but it's not really a puzzle game.

Groovin' Blocks is also a neat music-puzzle hybrid (though I've only played the disc version, which I was sent for review.)

Orbient is objectively the most substantial of the Art Style games and is also in my opinion the best.

If you're specifically looking for a puzzle game though Dialhex is probably the best fit.

If you're looking for a pure puzzle game then Rotohex is probably your best bet. Aside from Tetris I can't think of a single puzzle game ever released that offers a more perfect realization of a simple, elegant concept.

You should also check out Toki Tori if you like Rubik's Puzzle Galaxy, since it's from the same developer. It's an action-puzzler in the vein of Lemmings, where you have to assign your character skills so that he can collect all the eggs in each level. Lit (developed by Wayforward) is another excellent puzzler along the same lines.

Is it just me, or is No More Heroes nowhere to be found on the Nintendo Channel and thus not part of the Game-Play Records? I noticed it was missing from my list and figured the fact that I used the Freeloader to play the US version of the game (I'm in Europe) had something to do with it, but I looked at the daily records (in the Wii Message Board) from back when I played it and it's clearly listed for a total of about 20 hours spread out over a few weeks. I then tried to search for the game on the Nintendo Channel and came up empty. Anyone know?

No, the Nintendo Channel is definitely missing a few games. For me, it hasn't logged in Bully, Guilty Gear AC and Geometry Wars. Nintendo hates 3rd parties!?! Hmm...

As a warning for anyone that reads this, DO NOT get Rotohex if you're colorblind. You will not be able to do anything. It's horrible.
Cubello rocked though. Even though I had problems with 2 pairs of colors, it allowed for the few mistakes I made as a result and I had tons of fun. If your case is severe it's not your game I guess.

Hopefully in 2 days I'll get my Blaster Master. I know I shouldn't be hoping so much but dammit.

Europe doesn't have the page for the US version and so it can't associate that data with a game. You can try and see if they have a page for the European version, but obviously your stats will not count for that. It's the same reason you can't submit ratings for imported DS games. It's not counting the games you have but the games it is able to track.

Looks like they've stopped doing Hanabi Festivals and have instead decided to just release imports alongside domestic releases (Since Boy & his Blob came out in PAL regions originally)

A full thread update will be coming soon to cover releases up to date.

I should also note that I think January may be my last time running one of these threads. I've been doing it for the best part of a year and I'm finding it harder to slot it in amongst everything else I need to do. I'll see how things go with January, but I might have to ask if someone else would take on the responsibility for it come February.

For three weeks I've had 1500 Wii points ready for the release of Super Mario Kart but now I have a vacation for two weeks and want a nice N64 game to play. I was thinking of Majora's Mask because I've never finished it on the N64 and the GC collectors disk crashed on me too many times. Does anyone know if the VC game is more stable or should I get Sin & Punishment instead?

-

According to the Nintendo Channel it took me 44 hours to finish Super Mario RPG, I don't remember the game being so long.

The VC version of Majora's Mask is perfect (I have the GCN version, the VC version and the original NTSC N64 cartridge so I know of the issues that you are talking about. VC version is the best of them all by a country mile)

As for Majora's Mask VS Sin & Punishment, you're choosing between two fantastic games so you can't go wrong with either one! :D

Majora's Mask is my favourite game of all time, so naturally I would go with that one, but you won't be disappointed either way!

The VC version isn't perfect as the music still occasionally skips, but it's much better than the zelda collection version.

Going into Majora's Mask, I'd offer just one bit of advice: don't let the time limit intimidate you. You'll get a song that slows down time and it eventually becomes a non-issue that merely adds to the atmosphere more than anything.

Stick through it til the end, it's an amazing game.

Well, Ogre Battle 64 and Milon's Secret Castle are also rated, maybe they're doing a mini-Hanabi Festival.

I see. Are there different pages for different versions of games? Like for example Zelda TP or Mario Galaxy, is the playtime data I'm looking at in the European Nintendo Channel only for the European versions of these games and thus won't include time played by people outside of Europe? I suppose I could find out by checking the total stats and comparing to what they are in other regions.

I will, the last thing I remember from playing the game nine years ago was unfreezing some guy and rolling around as a Goron. I've just played the VC version for 4.5 hours and it didn't crash on me. No idea why but I'm enjoying this game more than when I played it for the first time.

Yes, this is correct. As a US user I cannot see stats for PAL games only the US versions in conjunction with a US Nintendo Channel. Some people say that even sub-regions like Canada might also differ, though I'm not sure about that.

Nintendo also is missing a few pages, so even some games from the correct region may not show up. Specifically SMS VC games don't tend to have pages so it won't show public or personal stats for those.

Starship Patrol is a tower defence game from Q-games.

500 points.

I really liked Reflect Missile, so I might be willing to give it a chance despite not being a huge fan of TD.

i just got starship patrol, the graphics look much nicer on the DS than it does in the screens i saw

it seems like its pretty damn complicated, if it has as many levels as reflect missile then its well worth it.

in a weird way its almost a cross between tower defence and space invaders the way the enemies wait at the top. it shows you the path they will take before they come down and gives you some time to organise your towers. they enemies also drop energy and powerups that you have to pick up with the stylus which adds some very simple action to it.

i like it a lot so far! :D

According to www.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk there is one more release tonight:
A Little Bit of... Magic Made Fun: Psychic Camera (DSiWare: Nintendo.,200 Nintendo DSi points)

I think I need to get reflect missile (I know it's a prior week) and space patrol. both look awesome.

Where is my storage solution, nintendo :( I had to transfer 4 games already

I got my Wii back from repair and downloaded all the demos.

Only played three so far:

1. Pokemon Rumble:

I'm in the group that feels it's only worth getting the demo, it does get repetitive and I'm not sure if it's that long. It'd be better if you could level-up your Pokemon, even though you can get stronger or weaker of the same Pokemon it seems, but I think it's random. It was fun though! I give the demo a 7.5/10

2. Bit Trip: Beat:

Crazy as fuck! I was very pleasantly surprised at how neat it was to use the Wiimote's tilt to move your icon up and down! And it gets CRAZY! :D But I need more time to get into it before I can say I'm buying it. I had fun! 8/10

3. My Life As A Darklord:

Hard to get started as it seemed complicating at first, but once I figured things out and knew that I can actually use my leveled-up monsters in fights only by powering them-up (I couldn't figure out why my Goblin wasn't getting stronger while fighting even though I used the Karma and leveled it up to 4), then I realized I had to power it up to that point. Now I am getting the hang at things and it is a lot of fun, and it's got good humor, I love how they break the fourth wall at times. :p 9/10 And will get my money once I get enough points (only at 700 right now).

How do you check the total playtime for all of your games?

I don't know about the 100% total, but I just know you check at how long you've played a specific game at specific times in a day at the Wii Menu, but you most likely knew that. Sorry I can't help more. :(
