Xmas Nintendo Downloads - December 09 - It's a Christmas miracle; Oregon Trail DSi!

TV Show King 2
Publisher: Gameloft
Players: 1-4
ESRB Rating: E10+ (Everyone 10 and Older) - Drug Reference
Price: 800 Wii Points
Description: TV Show King is back for a second round. There are 8,000 questions sorted into 12 categories on the program, including general knowledge, sports, movies, music and more. And that's without counting the questions that you can create yourself. Here's everything you need to compete with your friends, or with players all over the world thanks to Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection.
The original was pretty fun, if simplistic. That's a pretty decent number of questions, though; Wikipedia says the original had 3000 and the disc release (TV Show King Party) had 4000 more, so even if this includes all the old ones there are still some extas. Well, that or heinous rounding. The addition of creating your own questions and online multiplayer sounds promising, too.

Really the biggest problem of the original was that answering the questions became a lot less important due to the optional wheel-spinning between rounds. You could be owning everyone, but if the last-place contestant landed the wheel on a "trade money" thing in the last round, you're pretty much boned.

My dad and I used to play it, but the wheel broke the game for us for exactly this reason

You have to admit that it does cause for some good laughs. But they should let you turn some of those wheel options off. Like you said, it really didn't matter how good you played.

FUCK YEAH! Smash Bros. 64!

The game I've been waiting for since Virtual Console launched is finally here! Today shall be glorious. :D

Wow. Looks like I was wrong about Cave Story making it out before Christmas.

I'm thinking that maybe Castlevania will end the year (next week) and Cave Story will kick off the new one? I guess I can only hope for that.

Of course, today's releases aren't bad. Smash Bros. alone is definitely a good holiday game, as it's the kind that can bring people around the TV. Also, if Eco Shooter is developed by Intelligent Systems, that might mean VERY good things.

Dragon's Lair on the DSi?!

Isn't that the game with the video in it? The game that's nothing but a video and you push up/down or whatever?

I call it... a video game.

Is it good? I know it is a classic game, but I've never played it.

Well, it was good for the arcade owners. :D Quarter-sucker if I ever saw one.

Basically, it's a huge trial-and-error game. Keep playing until you learn to press the right buttons at the right time.

Heh, Eco Shooter looks kinda cool... shooting the cans and barrels gave me some slight Hogan's Alley flashbacks, too.

Only one more monday left if they want to do the anniversary thing..

I'm hopeful Konami's recent site update is an indication that it will be out before year's end.

But Eco Shooter sounds like a doer. Nintendo...Intelligent Systems...shooter...yeah, I'm on board with that. The game sure seems out of left field, though. Never heard anything about the game before today. Crazy Nintendo and their anti-advertising campaign for WiiWare.

EDIT: My kid was watching TV, and they just had a commercial for Pokemon Rumble. Wow. Go, Nintendo! :D

Great update, though I was hoping for Pilotwings (Which I guess is coming out next week now)

Still, I wasn't expecting Eco Shooter. Will buy! (Along with Super Smash Bros of course :D)

Super Smash Bros. finally for America! Almost a couple years late (I wanted it before Brawl launch for a special treat ;( ) but still better late than never!

Smaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaash Brooooooootheeeeeeers!

Dunno where CV is, surprised it wasn't in the Christmas bunch to be honest.

Me and my friends had a lot of fun with the original, so it's cool that they're putting out a sequel. Too bad it isn't just some DLC add-on though.

If anyone is interested I did some WiiWare sales estimates using the same Nintendo Channel trick:

My Pokemon Ranch 98323

Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicals: My Life as a King 65039
Tetris Party 52878
Lost Winds 50710
Mega Man 9 49692
TV Show King 38734
Strong Bad Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner 27017
Bomberman Blast 24597
Wild West Guns 20842
Pool Revolution: Cue Sports 18992
Onslaught 18391
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years 17423

Wha? How did you do that? And are those possibly LTD for the specific region?

Stuck on the first boss in Eco Shooter.

The shoot/vacuum mechanic is cool and I like evil soda can monsters. Graphics and sound are pretty dull/generic respectively, but there are some nice shiny effects.

Number of sessions played / number of sessions per player = number of players.

It's only based on the data submitted to the Nintendo channel and it's only based on that one particular region.

So how's Ninja Gaiden Arcade?

Also, what a surprise to not see Castlevania or Cave Story. One would have thought they would come up with the big guns at Christmas... but no. They think Smash Bros 64 is our wanted big gun.

zzz

EDIT: Oh shit I just checked a video for Ninja Gaiden Arcade. What bullshit mess of a brawler this is? WTF, NES version superior x 1000

.

It's fun. Loved this version back then.

How does SSB run? Going back to the N64 version, it runs pretty slow...but on PC it runs really well. Have they made any changes to the framerate?

Almost all N64 games on VC run at the maximum framerate they were coded with.

Rock solid 60FPS :D (SSB on the N64 ran at 60FPS with lots of drops. The VC version doesn't slow down)

I've noticed that pretty much all Channels all have small updates for US Wii owners. These updates don't even download as far as I'm aware, so it might be something to do with the shop itself.

The FUCK?! :O

I only remember it running at 30 max, I guess back then I wasn't really into framerates and the constant drops made me think it ran in 30 now.

HOLY SHIT I WAS ON WIKIPEDIA TO SEE WHAT N64 GAMES WERE ON VC THAT I CAN GIFT MY COUSIN AND IT SAYS SMASH BROS IS OUT TODAY IS THIS TRUE HOLY CRAP

Is there a firmware I have to be on to access Wii Shop? I'm not sure what I'm on and I'm scared to update. Gotta read up on Homebrew Wiki.

Rediculous that Cave Story still isn't out yet and it's almost 2010.

Anyways, still have 500 of my free DSi points waiting for Missile Reflect. Come on, Nintendo. Hurry up and give the U.S. some downloadable goodness from Q Games.
