XSEED announces E3 line-up [Trails of Cold Steel, PopoloCrois, Estival Versus]

Tom seems to be trying to sell me on Return to PopoloCrois with his 90s RPG talk. The Bokujo Monogatari stuff doesn't really interest me though.

Don't worry, they don't really interest me either. I've never been into the Bokujo series, or even really Rune Factory.

But Popolo is different. Popolo is love, and life. And this is as Popolo as they come. ;)

Holy shit.

I loved PoPoLoCrois on PSP, is this a new game for 3DS or a port?

Totally new game, totally new story. Begins on the day of Prince Pietro's 13th birthday.

Nice to get a confirmation that I don't need to play Zero and Azure in order to play Cold Steel. I wonder if we'll get a release date for both this and SC at E3?

No chance on CS since according to the blog post they haven't even started QA or VA work on it yet, which I'd assume that's because they're waiting for SC to finish so they can bring over everyone working on it, to CS.. Now for SC I wouldn't expect too many (if any) of those games listed to actually come before it's release.

HOPE LIVES!

This was basically my pitch for why Cold Steel getting a US release is a good thing even though it involves skipping forward in the series -- success for TITS SC and TOCS I+II means more US fanbase, which means more likelihood of almost-right-away localizations for future games, which means more chance that it'll be worthwhile to find a way to bring TC/Zero/Ao to PC sometime down the line.

Excited for Popolocrois but sad that Xanadu Next is still mia.

XSEED's gotta at least sort of try to pace out their releases, I'd imagine they're just buffering it for when Sara has some bandwidth.

if we were getting dates at E3, i don't see why they'd announce it's coming over now

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
8 games this half of the year is a whopper. Man, how many translation teams have you guys got?

I went to sleep and XSEED blew its load. Not a bad batch of games announcement to wake up to. Actually, a great batch of games announcement.

Yeah, Sara's pretty busy with SC and the appropriately cursed Corpse Party PC English build right now. Once those are off her plate, the sky's the limit. ;)

Aw shit, two Senran Kagura games in less than one year? My money.

Hopefully EV gets a physical release like SK2.

All in all, that's 5 games i'll be buying from them this year provided they aren't digital only or don't have physical import options.

Man, XSeed is knocking it out of the fucking park lately. Localizing really cool games that appeal to broad variety of audiences.

I'm buying pretty much all of these day one. May be time to upgrade to a bigger Vita card.

Unlike so many so-called AAA third-party publishers out there guess who actually wants my money this year? That's right... it's XSEED. And they're going to get an absolute ton of it.

Definitely pumped for this E3 lineup. Not every game is something I'm into but I appreciate the hard work of XSEED bringing all these games over. Gaming would be a dreary experience without companies like them for sure.

Seriously, I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. SK2 and EV in the same year? Oohohoho heellllll yes!

XSEED making dreams come true.

Hey Tom, since the press release only mentions NIS America publishing games like The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel and Onechanbara Z2: Chaos
in Europe, what happen with the rest of games?

Well, Xseed is not a European publisher, so expecting an announcement for Europe isn't exactly reasonable at this point. :p Remains to be seen when and if someone picks it up for Europe.

There is no reason why they can't publish those games in Europe by themselves. They are listed as publisher for Rune Factory IV on the European Nintendo pages, so they did it in the past.

Just because they did it in the past doesn't mean they can do it for every game. Saying there is no reason why they can't publish it ignores the multitude of things they have to do to publish a game in Europe.

Here's a refresher sample of what it takes to bring a game to Europe: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=99968774&postcount=83

It sounds to me like there might actually be some issue in Europe with the whole "Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons" kerfuffle, because otherwise it doesn't make any sense.

I just saw it was coming and forgot we still lived in the dark ages.

That's still only a fraction of the work that must be done to bring a game from Japan to the US. But that is apparently no problem.

I don't think so. Europe always had to wait ages for new Harvest Moon games. A new Beginning launched here almost a year later than in the US- and that one didn't even include other European languages than English. Most Japanese mid-tier companies are just too incompetent, to launch their games here in a timely manner. It's ridiculous, really.

Marvelous Europe tweeted yesterday that they will give out info on EU versions of some of the announced xseed games later

I love reading these.
Seeing how passionate these people are seriously warms my heart.
As a Trails fan I feel incredibly fortunate that the franchise is in XSeed's hands.

While far, far, FAR from confirmed, I will personally continue to push for 3rd and hope that fans will back me up by buying the hell out of SC. Please. Seriously. Buy it. I’m not even going to try hiding how desperate I am here. I want us to keep working on this series forever.

North American company has no problem bringing games to North America, story at 11, not sure how this surprises you. Ask their parent company, they have a European branch.

Looking forward to supporting all 3. And hopefully Dinosaur and the Zwei games at some point too. :)

For the PS4/Vita games I really couldn't care less about EU releases. If they come to retail close to the US release I'd prefer that, but otherwise importing is no issue. I expect Marvelous EU to publish the Marvelous franchises, namely SK EV, but I'm not going to get my hopes up that they'll release physical copies until they are announced. Hopefully the SK2 campaing was successful enough. There are obviously some issues surrounding Story of Seasons, either localization or licenses, but those will come (if they do) through Marvelous as well. I'm expecting Corpse Party and EDF2 to come here digital only. I'm more annoyed at Nintendo's region locking than XSEED not being able to publish in EU.

The games are coming, you'll be able to buy and play them somehow, and that's what counts.

In your link the xseed guy said, that all the development changes are done in Japan and that they only publish the games. So naturally, I was talking about Marvelous there. There is absolutely ZERO reason, why Europe should wait longer for a game than the US, if the publisher has subsidiaries in both regions.

It's also funny that all the stuff the xseed guy throw at you that must be done for a release in another region, are no problem for most Western publishers, which often release their games within weeks or even on the same day in Europe and the US; often including even multiple languages, other than the latest Marvelous releases.

EDIT: With "Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven" they even showed, that they are capable of doing this themselves. So I really don't understand why they don't do this always that way.

Maybe wait for them to announce their release plans before complaining? I'm almost sure that we'll get the Marvelous developed games very timely. So far they seem to be not interested or responsible for the other XSEED localizations so we'll have to hope that someone else steps in.

I'm talking only about Marvelous developed games, of course. Story of Seasons is out in the US for over two months and Europeans don't even know, if they'll get this game at all. All requests by fans are deliberately ignored or answered in a "we have nothing to announce" sort of way. So "very timely" is already out of the question.

I'm confident we'll get it some day, but they could be a little more open and honest towards their European fans.

I got a reply from them about SoS just last week. What else can they do if they can't talk about it for whatever reason? There are obvioulsy some issues with the release of that game and not just laziness or ineptitude.
