Yeah Yakuza won't leave PlayStation, but I guess now the Wii U has a chance to get the next game.
If by "next game" you mean Yakuza 3 and the others that came out on PS3, then maybe. If you mean the next entry that will probably be on the PS4... very unlikely.

How much did the 1+2 HD edition even sell on PS3, anyway? I can't imagine it was very much. Going to push like no units on Wii U I bet.

speaking of the shitty framerate in the video, the original ps3 release was a lazy ass port that didn't even fix the FMVs or add anti-aliasing

If the Nintendo fanbase finds out it's not an exclusive but a late port, this game has no hope of selling.

Nintendo would appreciate it if you keep this information silent.
Well by roaming Japanese websites it's too late.
I mean, it was a budget title on the PS3 version from the first place (so the used copies are dirt cheap already).
Could have Iwata asked Nagoshi for something else maybe?

I mean next entry, and of course it will be on PS4 but now it might also be on Wii U.

Hopefully Nintendo is publishing Yakuza 1+2 in NA/EU.

There's a steady fanbase who consistently buy the RGG games on the PS3. I can't see there being too many new people who will buy the collection on the Wii U, but it's probably a super cheap port and being funded by Nintendo.

:/ give us F-Zero instead you guys.
They actually started that segment with Iwata saying he hadn't met Nagoshi since F-Zero GX development, but that "to be clear, we won't be talking about a new F-Zero installment here".

Aouch.

I would guess this is laying the groundwork for a new Yakuza to be on Wii U as well as PS4.
I dunno, if they go WiiU exclusive with it they can basically keep making the series without having to really make any upgrades to the engine. If they move to the PS4 they would be expected to have graphical enhancements. Think of it like Monster Hunter where Capcom was able to basically keep making PS2 era graphically games for like 10 years.

Porting from PS4 would require a ton of work to downgrade it for the Wii U.

I don't know why a late port of upressed PS2 games makes you think that Sega is willing to put any of that work in.

I could see that happening if Nintendo brought the moneybags hardcore.

This wasn't the HD remake I wanted out of Nagoshi. :/

Oh well, I wonder if this improves the Collection's chances of releasing overseas?

I want this on PS3 and I want Yakuza 5! Heck, I'd also like Kenzan to come overseas finally.

Sega. REALLY? No Yakuza 5 or 1+2 HD or Kenzan for NA/EU? Instead you give WII U Yakuza? The WII U? From all consoles this one? Why? No wonder why it isnt coming to America if they gonna port the game to a dead console.

Wow, legitimately surprised. Never thought I'd see a Yakuza title on anything other than a Sony platform. Imagine the shitstorm caused if Yakuza 6 was a Wii-U exclusive.

Edit - And really, the Yakuza-related news that only matters to me right now is when Yakuza 5 is going to be localised. That shit needs to happen yesterday.

The series sells ridiculously better in Japan than overseas. They can probably make some quick and easy cash on the 1/2 HD collection.

I'd have preferred Yakuza 5 but I've been meaning to go back and the play the first two so I'll pick it up if it makes it over.

Wii U isn't allowed to have games confirmed.

On topic: Is this going to move any units, though?

Whoa, any chance of this making it to NA? I mean, I was hoping for Sega to bring the PS3 version over, but if this will be the more likely candidate I don't give a shit what system I'm playing these games on.

They're probably testing the waters with this before they look at bringing over the other installments.

So if the next Yakuza comes to the Wii U aswell as the ps4 how large of a difference do you think we will see between the two versions of the game considering the power difference?

I hope a Wii U version does not hold the PS4 version back, though we probably wont get the game in the US anyway.

If its anything like the Wii/PS3 games we had in Japan then it won't be affected at all. They will optimize the game for each console
