Yellow line running right through the Switch screen

RbNIOLN.jpg

You can see it on the bottom running through the zxcvbn letters.

I'm so pissed off right now. Done a factory reset and it did nothing. I can't even exchange it because it's all out of stock around here again. I don't have a game yet (haven't redeemed the snipperclips code) to see if it comes up then too but it's there on the home menu but it's not there on the black screen on boot up.

Thats rubbish.

I had to return my switch because it had red dots all over the screen. I went hunting and found another!

Goodluck!

Have you used it docked??? To see if it's a problem of the screen (surely) or the gpu???

Also maybe with the output change it could be solved...

If you don't have saves on yet you could just return it for replacement

assuming the place you got it from has stock. :/

Nope it doesn't. Nintendo are sending me a label and say the repair will take 2 to 3 weeks.

The line isn't there in TV mode but when I take it out it's back on the screen in handheld mode.

I feel like I keep hearing about hardware faults on this device.

I'm thinking of getting one down the road, but just waiting for the right amount of games.

Or maybe just getting one of those new 3DS's... Haven't played a pokemon game in ages.

Hmm..

Yikes, that's bad. Get that replaced ASAP, or return it to the store for a quicker fix if / when they have any in stock.

I'd say there's some hardware issue with the matrix addressing and the green subpixel line (if that's how these things work).

With all the issues I am going to see if they ever offer refurbs like they have in the past. I also wouldn't mind a few dead pixels since I will be attaching this to a TV pretty much permanently.

Personally, I'd return it and wait for a re-stock. Sending a brand new console in for a 2-3 week repair just seems ridiculous to me.

Yeah I got sent the repair label but there's no way I'm sending it in. I'll rather hold onto the money and in 2-3 weeks try to buy it again.

I phoned up Argos and they said one store that's kind of close to me has one left so they reserved it and said I can exchange. I've packed up and going there now. Hold this space to see me flip out if something else goes wrong lol

Screw calling Nintendo, it hasn't even been a month yet. I'd take it back to the store for a brand new one. Unless you feel like going through the hassle of shipping the system back and waiting.

Edit: I see you're doing that. Good move.

I dunno why your first thought was to make a NeoGAF thread. The better choice would have been to just call nintendo for repair.

I was on the phone while making the topic, the wait was about 30 minutes. I made the topic because when I searched yellow line switch screen on the net I couldn't really find anything.

Switch threads are like medical threads on OT. The poster should know they should contact the professionals, but for some unknown reason, post on GAF instead

But I guess in OPs defense he did both

At home it did go for a little while but came back... Of course to my luck when showing them it only came up on the first screen but then disappeared on the next and they didn't see it on the first but luckily I had taken these pics and that was enough for them. Waiting for the new item now. This is literally the only one in stock anywhere near me so I got lucky (if this one works)

Either GPU or the LCD itself is going the way of the dodo. Send it in for repairs

Edit: Ah, you've already contacted them. Did you manage to get it replaced then? Just waiting for the new unit?

My day one unit has that same line except it's dark and instead of showing on light backgrounds it's shows up on browns and blues. I've been trying to find one in the wild so that I can return it to Best Buy, but haven't had any luck.
