This post is so stupid that its even hard to normally reply to it.
First of all i dont agree with most You said and second of all write what they did great with GT 5 and compare lists. And then write down similar lists for other developers, especially for those that makes racing games. Compare developer staff on those companies and development cycles.
I don't know how you can't agree when most of it is factual.
It
did take 5 years to make. It
was delayed several times. It
does only have 20% premium model cars (~200) out of a total roster of 1031 - the rest are HD upscales from GT4 which fall to pieces up close and have no cockpit. They
did announce GT for PSP in 2004, then said nothing more until it resurfaced in 2009 - 5 years later.
The only two parts which are subjective are interface and competitiveness.
- the interface is terrible because it requires lots of loading between screens. It is an arduous process having to back in and out of races to perform other tasks, such as car upgrades, when really there should just be hotkeys or a quick menu or something to get to where you want faster. It doesn't help that the home screen looks like it was designed for tablet PCs rather than a controller:
- as for competitiveness: Turn 10 released 3 games this generation in the time it took for Polyphony to make one. F4 will have over 500 'premium' level cars with cockpits - more than double that of GT5. They outsource their stuff to get it out on time, because they are smart. Their online functionality is ahead with more social aspects. Their car customisation is miles ahead because of the detailed livery editor. They don't have to release tons of 'updates' because the game already ships at an acceptable level, and so they can focus on actual DLC car packs (while GT5 has not got a single one after nearly a year on the market). They release GOTY editions on top of this, with all the DLC cars included, to further increase the games value down the line - and because, you know, they actually win racing GOTY awards.
Then there are Codemasters who manage to get a new racing game out every year (DiRT, GRID, F1). And of course games like iRacing which for a long time have shit on everything else in terms of realism.
I don't know how any of this can be objectively argued.
