You can only play one series whose IP was started this gen, what would it be?

Demon's/Dark Souls first choice:
Some of the best games i've ever played and they can continue the series indefinitely, as the lore is very loose.
Plus it's easy just to pour hundreds of hours into them, they have some magic recipe for greatness.

Assassin's Creed second choice:
Games aren't down right amazing and the series has more misses than hits (apparently, still have to play 3) but still, they have an interesting core idea and can jump around anytime anywhere, making it possible for them to go on for a long time.

Just Cause or Saint's Row third choice:
Other open world titles that are not held down by a tight overarching story and can deliver fresh things every time, and so far i've enjoyed them a ton.
Although Just Cause was present in old gen too, it still has the first title on 360.

After finishing Uncharted 2 i may have said Uncharted, but after 3, i'm tired of the frasnchise already.

It's gotta be Zack & Wiki. A classic.

If it doesn't have to be a series, then Alpha Protocol. Brilliant dialogue mechanics, dialogue-exploration-skill integration, "hive" quest structure, choice & consequence, Chris Avellone etc. Yes, I'll take Alpha Protocol and its hypothetical sequels.

Etrian Odyssey.

The Etrian Odyssey games are incredibly challenging and rewarding oldschool, first person dungeon crawling rpgs with amazing soundtracks by Yuzo Koshiro. They feature what I think is probably the best implementation of touchscreen controls on the DS with the dungeon mapping, in part though that's nostalgia because it reminded me of playing games as a kid and having to use graph paper to draw maps. I like that you create your party, choose their appearance, their names, the classes and specialisations. I love the minimalist narrative approach to those games, the premise of each is fairly simple and the story is primarily what you experience while you play. The memorable experiences are organic gameplay moments where you push on to the next floor of a stratum when your party is battered and your low on supplies, when you outrun a FOE, when you finally defeat a FOE that previously was a terror that could wipe your entire party out, when you finally defeat a boss and move on to the next stratum. The EO games are incredibly rewarding when you finally do push past certain challenging parts or encounters, in a way that so few games are.

Also did I mention Yuzo Koshiro? I love this mash-up of the second stratum and battle theme from EO3.

Gears of War since it's the only series I've sunk a significant amount of time into that qualifies. Even though I think other games like Bayonetta and Uncharted are better, I'd get bored of those fairly quickly if they were the only ones I could play.

I think I would go with Dragon's Dogma. The game was pretty good IMO, with new game modes and DLC coming next year might be only better. I spent crazy amount of time with the game and I would love to see the series grow really big and improve along the way.

I'm really split between Xenoblade and Endless Ocean. Both allow me to do what I love most in games which is to explore. If I had to choose, I'd go with Endless Ocean because it does something I had never done before but love. Also, Endless Ocean is very educational about sealife which was fun learning about since I'm not generally interested in biology. So I really enjoyed learning about something I wouldn't normally research. I still see fish wherever and say, "hey, I saw that fish on Endless Ocean, it has these colors and does this or that".

Uggh, I always forget at least one. Still, I'll stick with Endless Ocean.

Only like 7-8 people said Portal. :I

I'd say TF2, but Team Fortress has existed since the mid-90s with QuakeWorld TF, so...

Maybe Minecraft, but Portal would inch it out IMO as a must-play experience.

Mass effect. Otherwise Demon's Souls.

Uncharted doesn't have much replay value to me, played them twice a piece and then never again. Its like so many other linear shooters this gen spawned.

Demon Souls.

Although I like Dark Souls, Demon Souls gave me that creepy/suspense feeling I never experienced in a game before.
