Simply the most innovative integration of online gaming to be seen in a game in several years, when it comes to multiplayer Demons Souls is WAY ahead of its time. People complaining about the lack of "traditional" coop are simply missing the beauty at work here: this isn't just about playing the same game with your friends in a done-to-death coop or deathmatch style, it's about the online component actually enhancing the overall experience.
I mean, seeing ghosts of other people playing the game at the same time as you? Being able to see the bloodstains of where others have died, thus being indirectly warned about the threats lurking ahead? And above all, being healed the moment someone recommends a message you've left, thus encouraging you to leave helpful messages for others, and thus indirectly eliminating the need for tutorials/hand-holding in several sections while also strengthening the feeling of comradery among players, then finally tipping it all upside down and allowing the same players to invade your game at any time and backstab you when you're not even looking?
...Fucking genius

Warhawk will probably be the only game this generation (minus Uncharted) that I will think fondly about 10 years from now. The game is multiplayer perfection. You can play so many rolls within a game, and each is very important. The maps are vast, and the graphics are very clean. Each time I hear someone mention it, I have no choice but to play. I think thats what I'm going to do now.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (PC)
Hands down. A few niggling issues holds it back (updaterate limited to 30, goddamn console version!), but it's probably the best online shooter I've played. The balance between infantry and vehicles is perfect, nothing is too strong and nothing is too weak. The pace is super fast (for a team-based shooter) with lots of room to improve your skills (advanced movement, versatile tools and interesting weapons) and great selection of superb maps to play on. The best thing though was the community; I could count the slurs I encountered on two hands, the rest of the time it was all people working together. Such a great game, I'm super excited for Brink.
If only Stopwatch had been more popular than Campaign on pub servers... Id probably never stop playing it.
Last I checked (a couple of months ago), yeah, there should be at least a dozen full servers running. I think it's healthiest here in Europe though, can't vouch for anyplace else.Pylon_Trooper said:Is there still a community for this, Danne?
