Funnily enough, I don't listen to any of these (game music in general) outside of the games, so the fact that I can distinctly remember them, even when I'm not playing the game, just tells me that I truly do like how they sound and they left an impression.

I always go back to the original Witcher soundtrack, there's something incredibly melancholic and beatiful about that music. I don't think that the original composer ever returned for the sequels, even though the music for them is good too.

I could go on and on about soundtracks and sound design. I know we're talking about *video* games, but the sound can really reach me on an emotional level in ways that visuals simply can't.

Rather than list some of the more obvious ones, I'll just highlight one that I thought did an excellent job establishing mood consistent with the narrative and setting. The tracks are simple, but that is no slight. A couple of my favorites from the OST:

I feel that I can go into a Ys game pretty much blind and it's gonna have at least a half dozen tracks that rock my balls. Also pick a Guilty Gear for the same reason. I'll just pick 2 at random I guess:
