Your go-to chill out game?

What game do you turn on when you just want to unwind after a long day or when you put a podcast or tv show on in the background?

For me it (was) Breath of the Wild. Almost no story to follow. No huge amount of focus needed. Just lots of beautiful landscapes and light hearted exploring. Unfortunately I don't have access to a Switch anymore.

My other game is the Division. I've long since completed the story and the story sucks anyway. Again a beautiful setting where I can just do random missions. The action does take more focus than BotW, but it's up to me how much action I want. I haven't actually bought the sequel yet as the setting doesn't vibe as well with me.

Used to be diablo 3, now it's the likes of PES 2020, NBA2K20, CTR, Div2 is ok if not raiding. And it's also been the Nioh 2 beta recently :)

Probably The Pinball Arcade. Thankfully I got all the tables I wanted before FarSight lost the Bally/Williams licenses.

But pinball is the perfect thing to play when I don't have the energy to invest in a lengthy gaming session, but I still want/need to unwind for a bit.

Mine is D3 or some other co op game. just love seeing monsters explode on screen and grinding for loot.

although world war z has been really good at that lately too even though its not a ARPG. I cant wait for zombie army 4 lol love killing hordes of monsters

I tried to play Division lately and I couldn't login - I haven't played the game for a while and I thought it is over with it.

Used to be diablo 3, now it's the likes of PES 2020, NBA2K20, CTR, Div2 is ok if not raiding. And it's also been the Nioh 2 beta recently :)

For me is NBA 2k aswell, very relaxing when you shoot 3P with 81%.

Also it used to be Cities: Skylines: extreamly realxing game, where you can chill watching your city grow and grow even more.

On my Mac and PC it has been Islanders which is like a laid back city builder and puzzler combined into one.

On PS4 I have been playing a lot of Everybody's Golf after picking up the remaining DLC courses when they were on sale. A few friends who I get to golf with in real life jump in to so we can adequately trash talk.

if you can "git gud" as they say, Dark Souls is a great game to blast through. there's always a new build to make or try out. Stardew Valley is another great one to play with some YouTube/Netflix in the background.

My idea of chill out is grinding on muscle-memory games like Guilty Gear or Daioujou or Magical Drop.

Minecraft and Fez are two other good chillout games.

Destiny 2 - the quality of the gunplay makes it downright cathartic to just go out and mindlessly knock out a few daily bounties.

Diablo 3 Nephalim/greater rifts. Not to high so it gets stressful not to low that it's not worth doing them . Just put the game on , turn on some music, podcast, movie what ever and turn your brain off and mash buttons .

SFV training mode . While the game isn't exactly execution heavy it's good to keep your muscle memory going even though it's just on a non moving dummy

American/Euro truck simulator. I play with a wheel in one hand and a drink in the other, while listening to one of the radio streams in the in game radio browser.

Dark Souls, Sekiro, Tekken 7

I'm a masochist. It's hard for me to enjoy games unless they can bring out some form of emotional distress from me.

I play one or two competive matches in CS:GO to try to "relax" after work, with a beer or a glass of whisky by the side.
I end up even madder and more stressed.... and wanting to hit things.

At the moment it seems to be Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Notable chillout games in the past include...

... Age of Empires 2 AotC, WoW, Civ 3, War3, LoZelda TWW.. among others~

Fuel - that driving game with huge world and amazing vistas. Looks amazing at 4k and is super relaxing to drive around and listen to something on youtube.
Gta iv driving around the city, enjoying the rain (and the swing!)
Enter the Gungeon/Isaac

Lately there hasn't been a particular one that comes to mind. But for SEVERAL years it was definitely The Binding of Isaac. I played that religiously and it was my "I want to play something but can't think of anything" game for the longest.

I actually liked most of the story in The Division. Finding those echoes was pretty cool

Anyway, i'd say Tetris 99 or Puyo Puyo vs Tetris but i often mute the sound of whatever game i'm playing and listen to something on youtube instead

Donkey Kong Country and Resident Evil Remake are two of the main ones I'll kick back and beat in a sitting or two. Usually alone, with a beer. Then I think about if I need friends. Will I die alone? How long would it take someone to find my body if I choked on my bagel bites? I tell myself I should be fine because I have Donkey Kong and Jill, but... maybe ...

Oh, and Super Mario RPG!

Probably DMC1. It's simplicity makes it so pick up and play for me, lately I've been getting A ranks more than ever so I'm satisfied with that.
Similar to me, but with Bayonetta. I just love to select any stage, do some flashy combos and call it a day.

Also, Rocket League, but sometimes I get too try hard and its not a chill game.

The lack of hentai game is surprising.

Love me some Red Dead Redemption 2 to chill out the most soothing game out there IMO with tetris effect.

It used to be BF3 Metro or Canals. Played that so much I could just go on auto-pilot (esp around Noshahr).

But I don't have a go-to game at the moment.
