should get her own spin-off series at this point:

"after a genocidal ethnic-cleansing"

holy shit lol

Considering Japan censors its own "genocidal ethnic-cleansing" from their history books, I don't think it would fly in fiction either. Just imagine the look of the executives while they were trying to give that pitch for a new Zelda.

yeah, it's very dark, isn't it?

IDK if that is the reason why it ultimately was canned, Nintendo does make some 'weird' games once in a while so who knows.

It doesn't have to be that pitch tbh, just a nice well made Sheik game that stays strong alongside the main series. I mean the whole character has so much potential, not gonna lie.

Actual dungeons with worthwhile rewards. BotW could have really used "Legendary Weapons" that were unbreakable that you find after completely a dungeon.

And they could do a lot with the dungeons. I remember from the initial talk about the game that the "dungeons" were supposed to be integrated into the environment and encourage exploring and backtracking, like you would encounter a problem or obstacle and would need to come back later with the solution. Almost nothing in BotW was like that - all the best "dungeons" were basically setpieces and scenarios in their own separate corner of the world (i.e. the survival island, the mazes, etc.) that you could beat first time with skill.

Don’t get me wrong. I love what I saw. Just those words made do a double take lol

Hi all!

E3 is approaching and I dont think i've been as hyped as I am now since Nintendos 2017 January presentation. Since then i've sold my launch base Switch model after several joy cons that were drifting, and cracks on the backplate due to heating. The ever lasting rumor involving a Switch Pro has me excited for problems like I had with my Switch to be Iron out, hopefully. With a new console, a new Zelda game to be launched with it, is highly likely I would say.

Breath of the Wild for me was a magnificent experience which goes beyond gaming. The game is pure art for me, and the amount of hours (200), is something i've never had in any game that I can recall. Although I adore Breath of the Wild, its not a perfect game by no means. It has flaws that I hope gets fixed in the sequel.

So, heres my hopes for the sequel:

1. Variety: Not just in enemies and bosses, which was lacking in the original game, but also environment. We had the typical Zelda enviroments like the desert, forest, water etc. We've been through that in the first game, so I think it would be cool to see something unexpected. It looks like we get to explore caverns and such in the sequel, but more cool areas like underwater exploration and such would be nice.

2. Story: The story arc in the first game was okay, but nothing too exciting and I couldn't get invested in the story or characters. Maybe the reason was the voice acting, or just an underwhelming story. I would like a story that involves a more personal connection with both Zelda and Ganondorf, like in Ocarina of Time. More side quests like Tarrey Town would be nice aswell.

3. Crafting. Not a huge deal for me, cause I rarely used the cooking pot, but maybe it was because of the non existing crafting in the game? If they can come up with a more advance crafting system, then maybe it would make the game more challenging and rewarding. Like, if you want to explore a cave or dungeon, you have to craft the materials to enter the dungeon or craft an item to let you advance further or something.

4. Soundtrack: This is also not a huge deal for me personally, but i've seen people talking about it. I like the calm soundtrack with nature sounds on Breath of the Wild, but having a orchestrated soundtrack throughout the game, like in Skyward Sword, would be epic, I have to say. Having a Hyrule field theme and Zeldas lullaby would be cool, but it has to work within the story and the athmosphere they're going for in the sequel.

Thats my hopes for the sequel that I can think of. Feel free to comment what hopes you guys have, would be interesting to read.

Cheers!
My hope is that it’s more like Breath of the Wild and less like Aonuma quirky puzzle Zelda, which is garbage.

Yeah, the weather effects that prevented you from climbing walls were pure piss off. I remember walking around for half an hour or more until I figured out they deliberately made it rain to prevent you from accessing certain areas. I remember two areas of the game that were like that.

I didn't like the weapon damage. It had its positives and negatives but overall it was a pain to manage. They did it once, fine. Don't do it again for the sequel.

Oh yeah. Better overworld music.

My hope is that if they're going to keep the weapon degradation system they at least ease up on how quickly the weapons break. And once you acquire the Master Sword there should not be some system to limit its use. It should become the only melee weapon you need at that point.

Put some fucked up shit in it. Id like a zelda game where everything is like the bottom of the well from the 64. All the enemies in BotW were boring

I am currently playing. PLEASE FIX THE SHRINE SENSOR FFS!!! It is beeping but I can't see a goddamn thing and it drives me crazy. I get it. They don't want to lead you there directly, but for the love of god remove that sound or give me the choice to just have the sensor blink so that i know a shrine is nearby. :messenger_beaming:

Oh and I want higher resolution for sure. Sometimes the washed up graphics hurt my eyes.It should be on par with Genshin Impact at least

Less weapons breaking and more of Zelda's ass. And no random fucking rain stopping you from climbing shit.

Breath of the Wild’s identity is in its four main champions and the anxiety Ganon gives you if they can somehow combine that with traditional dungeons like from Skyward Sword and reintroduce dark themes like from Twilight Princess you’ll have another game of the year on your hands.

Remove the weapon breaking mechanic or at least make it in a way that make sense.

Hope for more density, the world in the BotW is very barren and empty, now that they don't need to worry with the WiiU, they better take more advantage of the hardware.

I wish they implement a better AA solution, maybe TAA, and a more stable fps.

And for the love of god, that the game runs well on the vanilla switch (since it may be the game that shows the advantages of the rumored switch pro)

-Two villains + Ganondorf
-More NPCs that know the land of Hrule very well and its history
-A lot more story
-Dungeons, preferably fifteen in all which includes 3-4 minidungeons and 11-12 dungeons
-NPCs that take risks, go on adventures, are aware of the events taking place to a degree and have a lot if intel on very important subjects that would be useful to Link in sidequests and the main quest
-Lore about the Champions, tons of TLoZ lore in general, craftily weaved seamlessly into the game
-Dangerous NPCs with agendas
-Bring back eavesdropping very serious private matters and conversations, (Majora’s Mask) stakeouts, rendezvous, reservations and booking of rooms
-Bring back grottos
-An outstanding OST like OoT
-Perilous beginning and a perfect ending
-Villains’ affects on everyone is felt heavily but also game has a lot of lighthearted qualities
-Sidequests are meaningful and worthwhile, never a dull moment
-Dark Link? , Vaati? , Twinrova spellbook?
-More Gorons, more Zora’s, Deku Scrubs
-Heavily focused themes within Dungeons w/ tons of detail
-Plot twist maybe
-Reduce the size of the overworld some but include more effort and content that matters into its areas
-Tougher secrets to find, plenty of mysterious areas
-Intimidating to enter areas, BOTW had a fair amount of these thanks to Guardian presence

I really missed the dungeons in BotW. So that's the main thing I'd like to see return, alongside some more unique bosses.

Other than that I think it'd be cool if they added the ability to explore under water. I'd also love to see the Hookshot return in some capacity.

I hope it runs on emulator day one. It deserves to be played on decent hardware.

Gameplay-wise I hope they tone down weapon breaking or outright remove it entirely.

Most Likely:

More enemy diversity. Darknuts, babas, aeralfos, thunderbird, gohma, dodongo tektite, horsehead, etc.

Likely:

No breakable weapons, collected through progression and upgraded similar to armor in previous game.

Less Likely:

Whole gallery of playable characters with their own weapons, fighting styles and abilities, including Zelda.

Least Likely:

Complete ovehaul of combat system to something similar to Sekiro's.

For it to be a good game.

Seriously though, I want dungeons that you just stumble across. If they tweak the weapon breaking system, that would be nice.

Hoping I can emulate it 1440p 60fps soon after release. Never finished Botw but playing it 60fps was a gamechanger.

Having to switch weapons 4 times in one fight is ridiculous, I still don't understand how that got through playtesting. Also heavily dragged down the exploration aspect for me, why get excited about that epic frost blade if it's gonna break after 5 hits on a random goblin?

The health system was also weird, just pause mid fight and fill your health back up with at all that food. Felt pretty much invincible.

Dungeons.

On weapon degradation:
Mitigate the weapon breakage without throwing the baby out by letting players use resources to repair/recharge them. They could even let you combine duplicates for a higher damage, more durable version.

It would be nice if there were some kind of stupid-hard quest to earn an unbreakable version of each weapon too.

Everything else:
The main things I want to see are a much greater variety of enemies, the return of the hookshot (only good on wooden objects) and/or clawshot (only good on... flexible objects?), and as someone else mentioned in this thread the return of ability to dive and swim underwater.

Someday:
I'd like to see a BotW-style Zelda set in an urban environment, like Majora's Mask but on the scale of an Assassin's Creed. Similarly, I'd like to see the return of MM-style shapeshifting masks one day. I don't think either is right for a followup to BotW though The new Zelda formula is too ripe for conventional refinement and expansion to need a drastic changeup or additions just yet.

Accessibility. I wanna be able to play it. That means I need it on something a little more accessible than a multi-hundred dollar handheld. Maybe a hacked version for my Vita ^_^

I guess on behalf of others I hope they have a new system for weapon degradation/keeping people changing weapons. I'm thinkingggg... a very cinematic and thrilling rock paper scissors model

Less formula. More of a sense of mystery and adventure.

specifically I mean.. almost every side quest ended with shrine popping out of the ground. (At times it really seemed silly for that to happen) Those shrines were always a massive underground blue zone with a puzzle that gave you an orb at the end.

It loses its interest so fast. I want to explore caves, dungeons, temples.. I want surprising rewards, I want to feel like there’s a deeper narrative woven into the place I’m exploring. I want to start a side quest and not already know exactly what will happen, and what my reward will be.

more voice acting. More dungeons. Better bosses. A significantly increased investment and time put into the story, lore, and overall writing.

As far as gameplay goes, if weapon durability is still going to be a thing, I’d love to see crafting fleshed out. A chance to reforge cool weapons I have found.. would also give more of a sense of permanence to neat finds without totally abandoning the weapon breaking mechanic.

Oh and 60fps on the switch pro.

One change I would like to see is just a mechanism to rate a weapon's current durability. I mean if link could inspect a weapon and he knows it's a low durability weapon some sort of indicator of that. Also as I use a weapon some mechanism to give me a clue how close it is to breaking. If I remembered right the only ones were indicators that the weapon was unused and that the next hit would break it. Nothing to give overall durability or what the current amount of "use left" it has.

- Larger and more varied shrines
- Fewer test of strength shrines
- Underwater shit
- More caves and interiors to explore

That's it. That's the GOAT right there.

Completely agree on underwater/cavern areas. Caves seem like a safe bet going by the 2019 trailer. I wouldn't mind Test of Strength shrines if they had unique challenges. Maybe ditch the Guardians and bring back some classic Zelda boss monsters.

I'd also like more elaborate side quests and NPC routines, like the item swapping from Link's Awakening or the Bomber's Notebook from Majora's Mask. BotW was pretty basic with the pop-in travelers and Yiga/NPC rescue stuff.
