I'm uneasy about the trial by social media of Nick Robinson. I can't say I'm familiar with the guy, and he could very well be guilty as hell of the things he is accused of, but people are essentially forming a conviction from rumour and innuendo. The role of social media in snowballing internet hate mobs has been repeatedly demonstrated.
"So You've Been Publicly Shamed" is a really good book that explores this subject. People set themselves up as judge, jury and executioner of strangers on the internet, and feel good about themselves doing it.
