Your most hyped game of all time.

The Oculus Rift. I had been following it since the Kickstarter and the countless hours I spent in /r/oculus is unbelievable. I'm glad VR lived up to my hype.

A close second is GTA V. And I know I was not the only one. That trailer broke the damn internet.

Currently it's BotW.

Every Smash Bros. sequel, Brawl especially 'cause of the Dojo and getting so many characters I wanted.
Gears of War 2
Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Mass Effect 2 & 3
Metroid Prime 2 & 3

Metal Gear Solid V, yet No Man's Sky is starting to get near the same levels for me.

Bought the CE game and strategy guide with custom shirt as well for MGSV. Spent many hours in the threads for the game before I was even allowed to post, wanting to join in! Eventually got in and became even more obsessed with the game. The stealth genre is my favorite and this game was (is) the genre's fans' wet dream!

GTA San Andreas.

Vice City was amazing and the idea of a GTA game set in 90s California was a dream come true. Funnily enough, its the only GTA game I never finished.

Has to be Halo 2. I remember playing Halo split screen over my cousins house a couple of years in a row on Christmas eve and how much fun it was. Once Halo 2 was announced I couldn't wait to play online with no split screen.

Some honorable mentions.

Street Fighter 2 (SNES)
Golden Axe (Genesis)
MW 3
Fallout 3
Fallout NV
Wrestlemania 2000 (N64)

Tough to say, one that comes to mind though is Super Mario Sunshine. I knew in my mind it was impossible to be as good as Mario 64 but in my heart I still hoped.

Ogre Battle and Zelda OOT.
I don't really hype games anymore but I have to admit that No Man Sky got me since the gold announcement .

Deus Ex: Invisible War. At the time, Deus Ex was far and away my favorite game. True, there were other good first person experiences, but it nailed so many things my Shadowrunning heart desired.

Coming off that hype was rough. Invisible War was nowhere close to the game DX was.

The only recent games to compare were Dark Souls II and Bloodborne, but they didn't quite ramp up to the levels of hype and obsession that I had before DX:IW. Plus, they (more or less) delivered.

First, ESIV: Oblivion. It looked like it would be wonderful and revolutionary, and in my opinion it was both.

FFXIV. When the "Online" subtitle came up 30 seconds after I shouted it out at my TV screen I lost my shit. Then played the beta and was totally and completely let down. I almost wish I hadn't gotten into the beta because there's at least a small chance I would have stuck with 1.0 if I met some people in-game, but the beta was just awful and turned me off immediately.

My Final Fantasy X hype will probably never be matched. I was a fanboy of the series at the time. Just got internet. Downloading every video of the game at 56k. Watching download bars slowly progress with glee. The game looked absolutely perfect to me at the time. Too bad I ended up hating it.

MGS V. Kind of a shame it didn't live up to ALL of the expectations, but it hit enough of them that I was far from disappointed with what I got. Prior to that though... Probably MGS2... I like Metal Gear...

Metal Gear Solid 2 is a good one. I was excited for that ever since the game was first unveiled, and even more so around the PS2's first year or so when Zone of the Enders was released with the MGS2 demo.

Other than that, Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time due to Nintendo Power. I couldn't hold my excitement for the Nintendo 64 back in '96, and was looking forward to playing a 3D Mario. Ocarina of Time had ad after ad in Nintendo Power, along with screen shots and information about the game that it just continued to tease me until it finally released.

Trying to remember all the games I played that I was hyped for..hmm

For me it would have to be a game that hasn't come out yet, and that's disaster reports 4. Because it's a foreign title and that makes me being able to play much more rare because I don't import and only wanna play it in english.

I remember Doom II coming out was a pretty big deal - everybody was trying to upgrade their desktops to play it.

In terms of consoles, probably either Chrono Trigger or FFVII

Super Mario 64, FF7, Windwaker, Twilight Princess, and honestly, Kingdom Hearts 2 probably took the cake. Everything from the Nobodies to me watching Deep Dive 1 million times and reading analyses from people. KH2 probably takes the cake for "modern" games.

Recently, I just want ff15 to come out.

Super Mario World 2
Half Life 2
Unreal 2
Halo 2
Mass Effect 2
Witcher 2

I remember being pretty amped for these, needless to say I was more often than not left disappointed.

Probably Halo 3. The genuine excitement of anticipation stuck around for a whole year. Other ones it's like yes I'm excited for them but they aren't on my mind until the month of their release (new Zelda, Persona 5, The Last Guardian)

Final Fantasy XV, no doubt.

I've been hyped for this game for 10 years now. No matter how excited I was for other games, it's hard to surpass 10 years of waiting.

This is a great post because I feel exactly the same way.
The cliff hanger GoW 2 ending really had my hype in overdrive.

I remember when the GAME store chick wouldn't sell me the game on launch day because I din't have my ID to prove I was above 18, nearly lost my shit haha!

And the game delivered, huzzah!
Memorable shoutout to GTA IV, I poured over every bit of media leading to release.

Halo 2 E3 trailer... fight on Earth, dual smg, warthog fighting in the city... I think my hype was very strong at this particular moment!

Fire Emblem Awakening

Bought a 3DS for it, couldn't believe how bad it was. I told myself it's because I don't know Japanese. Later bought an NA 3DS, played the English version, it's just terrible.

Hard to narrow it down to one.

Persona 5 is definitely up there.

For games released more recently I'd say TLOU, TW2&3 and UC3.
SMTIV is a weird one, since I'm in Europe I remember feeling more frustration and anger than hype lol.

Some older games that come to mind when thinking about hype are Sonic 3, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Nights into Dreams, FFIX, Sonic Adventure, MGS2 and Persona 3/4.

2 of my most hyped games ever were never released lol, Sonic Extreme and the Saturn version of VF3.

Probably Final Fantasy III (in America, is actually FF6).

I lost sleep as a kid, waiting to get that damn game. I still remember the car ride to the mall to pick it up, and then the AWFUL long slog home since my mother had to stop at the grocery story on the way home. Every second felt like days.

Was not disappointed. One of my top 3 games of all time.

Fire Emblem Awakening

Bought a 3DS for it, couldn't believe how bad it was. I told myself it's because I don't know Japanese. Later bought an NA 3DS, played the English version, it's just terrible.

Why is it terrible? I've recently been playing Radiant Dawn for the first time and realize I love Fire Emblem games now. Was considering buying a 3DS just for Awakening too.

Street Fighter II: Turbo for SNES. I was drooling out the mouth for months in anticipation of this game and it delivered in every possible way. No game has since surpassed it as far as hype is concerned.

When they announced Diablo 3. Hype was through the roof! And then it came out. Damn it was a rough start. Awesome now.
