Your most pleasant surprise Switch announcement from the presentation and after

Nothing in the presentation made me happier than seeing the return of Travis Touchdown. So glad we're getting a new No More Heroes game, even if it'll be a long ways off.

Two others that caught my attention in a major way would be Fire Emblem Warriors (please include Ike) and ARMS, simply because I think it's a very unique take on the fighting game genre courtesy of Nintendo. I look forward to playing it a lot.

From the presentation itself, probably Xenoboade 2? Either that or FE Musou I guess?

From after, definitely Snipperclips. Initially I thought it'd be absolutely nothing, but the Treehouse Live demo was hilarious. That game is the most pleasantly surprised I've been by a game in a long time.

Definitely Xenoblade 2 and that it's "coming this year"

What seems like an actual good sequel to my favorite game of all time AND it's coming out so soon?? I wasn't expecting a new Xenoblade until at least late 2018/2019.
Monolithsoft is really putting Square Enix to shame with how quickly they're able to turn around robust JRPGs with fully-realized worlds in the HD space.

I didn't watch the presentation, but I am pleasantly surprised by ARMS. Hearing that it has regular controller based controls in addition to the motion controls makes it a game that I will be getting for my Switch.

ARMS for the "I know nothing about this but this looks fun" surprise.

Fire Emblem Warriors for "Fuck yes what took them so long" surprise.

Xenoblade 2 for "It's not a sequel to X! But it's ok I guess. It's ok. It looks good." surprise.

March 3rd for launch and Zelda. Much closer than what I was expecting.

Sonic Mania is something I'm hyped for but I'm not surprised. So I'll go with Bomberman too.

Love Bomberman in all its forms. Will happily buy for local multiplayer fun on the go.

No More Heroes 3.
Arms treehouse (looked bad at the reveal, WAAAAY betting on the treehouse)
And of course Snipperclips (name sounds like shovelware so I was ignoring it, but now it's my most anticipated new title)

Region free.

And yeah Monolith Soft are amazing, how they can get quality games built in huge awesome worlds that look gorgeous released so quickly is amazing to me. Or maybe it's just because of how inept Square Enix are in comparison that makes them stand out more.

Sonic Mania was nice too, despite owning all the consoles anyway, I really wanted to play it on Nintendo but was worried it would be skipped for no reason.

Also Binding of Isaac phsyical edition has me soooooooo happy!

ARMS for me. A new IP produced by MK8's director, kinda weird, nice character designs, interesting concept. Splatoon paid off for me, hoping they can pull off something fun and deep with this too.

Also, Fire Emblem Warriors but misses out on top spot coz we didn't really see any footage yet (but hopefully we get a good look next week) and Xenoblade 2 but I need to see more and I don't believe that 2017 date for a second.

Xenoblade 2.

Xenoblade Chronicles is my personal GOAT! I honestly didn't expect a sequel to be announced already. Dated for 2017 of all things, which is also unbelievable to a point where I'm almost 100% sure it will be pushed.

Seeing the Monolithsoft logo at the beginning gave me chills down my spine.

Seeing ACE as composer gave me a stroke.

The big, fat. red 2 was the final blow.

Worth mentioning: Bomberman's return!!! :D

I saw the 4chan leak so, by the time Arms was announced, I knew it was coming... What surprised me was how fun it looked. That was mostly after the Treehouse today, though.

Xenoblade 2 as well. That one came out of left field.

EDIT: Almost forgot Mario in the city. When he popped out of the sewer I was like 'wtf are they trying to show me here?' It was awesome.

Arms has been the most intriguing looking new game. I'd say that was my #1 most pleasant surprise.

Next to that: Release date being sooner than rumored, Zelda being confirmed at launch (which when tied into being sooner than expected is great) and the colored JoyCons.

Forgot about ARMS! Based on the Treehouse segment and impressions that game looks sooooo much better than the debut trailer implied. They're pulling a Splatoon with this one.

In order:
XB2
Zelda BoW having an epic story
SMTIV
Joy-cons versatility
release date weeks before rumored
Cool colors on the device

Oh yea forgot Project Octopath Traveler lol, how could I forget that! Looks like something specifically made for my tastes lol. :D

Bravely Default team. <3

Zelda I don't consider a surprise as I knew it was gonna be epic. :P

This might sound like a troll post but it's 100% genuine:

I am relieved that I don't have to pay $300 for another piece of plastic just so I can get access to Nintendo's handful of good (no, great) games over the next 5 years.

Instead, finally their hardware business is coming to an end and I will be able to enjoy their games on third party hardware sooner.

I would have been pleasantly surprised to see a raft of first party games announced for year one, better visuals than we are getting and a console without terrible gimmicks that nobody wants, and I would have bought into that - but we didn't, so the silver lining is at least this depressing 10 year nightmare of Nintendo home consoles will soon be over.

Mario, Arms, and HD rumble (if it actually works as intended. Lemme feel that arrow flying out of my zelda bow).

I also like that the system seems to be finally making good on the promise of the wii, while also merging handheld and console in order to accommodate more traditional games as well. I really enjoy the wii remote, but it's lack of buttons, the fact that it didn't come with motion+ right away, and the fact that the nunchuck attachment had the most minimal motion controls and had to be attached limited it by a lot. So while the Wii was great, I feel like it never hit its peak potential.

Seeing Arms in motion is like seeing the dream of the wii fully realized. Full, proper, accurate motion controls in both hands. I hope Nintendo releases a ton of smaller games that take advantage of the possibilities, as well as one or two big games. Add on to the fact that Nintendo is releasing 3 of their biggest games ever (zelda, mario, and xenoblade) really positions the switch as the system for every type of game imaginable. Don't let me down, devs.

Snipperclips. Should have been given a prominent spot during the conference. It's such a creative idea for a game.

Shin Megami Tensei

That was easily my favorite announcement of the show. We knew something SMT-related was coming sometime in the near future with that SMT 25th anniversary site going up, but I did not think it would be that soon, and wasn't sure it was going to be for Switch.

Still really curious what the 3DS Project is.

Bomberman! I love that franchise and really hope he can get into Smash someday.

Also was surprised with Arms. The art style is pretty cool and knowing it has standard controls makes it awesome to me.

Neat surprises are also the high amount of RPGs like Xenoblade, Octopath, Disgaea, etc...

I thought ARMS would be a shallow Wii boxing clone. It actually looks super fun and seems to have a good amount of depth! The fact that the motion controls are optional is a huge plus as well.

Splatoon 2, Bomberman and ARMS

I thought they were going to just enhance port Splatoon Wii U

Lmao keep dreamin' my dude

The 1-2 punch of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (and a return to form, seemingly) and Fire Emblem Warriors (which I've wanted to be made since Hyrule Warriors).

For me it has to be Xenoblade 2. I didn't think Monolith would have their new game ready so soon after Xenoblade X, yet it'll be out before the year is over!

Best surprises for me were...

Splatoon being a full fledged sequel and not just a "Deluxe" version.

Suda 51 announcing No More Heroes 3.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and how far along it looks.

That Zelda trailer.

Arms was the big one for me. Great Character designs, somewhat innovative fighting game mechanics and the motion controls are not required.
