Do any of these have co-op? Been casually interested in them for a while.
I see what you did there... several times.
Might be a dumb question but did any of the Y's games come out for the NDS? Any plans for the 3DS?

Don't hit me but the only one I really liked was the Ark of Naptishm, tried a few of the others but couldn't get into them. Maybe because I really don't like playing those games on handhelds.
And Adol is a really strange name for a hero. I mean really? Adol? Is his last name Hiter?
play Oath on PC, it's the best game.
Also, he's called Adol Christin

I enjoyed ys7 way more, it's a shame it's not on pc
Since everybody's talking about the PC versions of these games again, I was wondering if anybody else had encountered this problem where the screen will randomly go black in Origins and Felghana for a couple of seconds every few minutes. Is this a known issue? Maybe one with a solution?
I love OiF and Origins, I wish so badly that Falcom developed for the 3DS, or that Konami weren't such assholes and let Xseed publish AoN on Steam.
I had no idea this is how your pronounced the titles until now.
"Ease" - of course it makes so much sense, like the Spanish pronunciation of the letter.
Ys: The Oath in Felghana
- A complete reimagining of Ys III, though its connections to the other Ys games are tenuous at best (read: it's one of the most standalone games in the series, story-wise, spoiling nothing and requiring no prior knowledge of the series whatsoever). Considered by many to be the best Ys game, myself included, though its high level of difficulty may make it a little less accessible to gamers who aren't used to challenging games (fortunately, there are 6 difficulty levels to choose from, so you have options to make life easier for yourself!). This would be my recommended starting point, however, as I feel it best represents the series as a whole.

Went ahead and picked up I & II Chronicles+ as I've had the Ys games in my wishlist for a while now and thinking about picking up the rest before the sale ends. Can anyone speak to the quality of the translations?
As the guy who edited all three games, I can! Though it's up to you whether or not you believe me. But I think most of the GAFers on here will vouch for my sincerity.
All three games' scripts were based on fan-translations by Jeff "Deuce" Nussbaum, which were already excellent to begin with -- but in all three cases, a full editing pass was given to these scripts to clean them up before they were used in the final game. Every single line was looked at, and many (possibly even most) were tweaked to improve and naturalize the flow of dialogue, match the voice and intended tone of the speaker and fix up any mistranslations from the Japanese. I'm quite confident in saying that the localizations for all three Ys titles on Steam are the best they can be, as they started with great source material and a great translation and received very thorough editing all around. About my only regret with them is that Ys: The Oath in Felghana's script uses waaaaaay too many ellipses. (What can I say? I was young and foolhardy back then!)

I feel like I'm in the minority when I say that I felt the same way. Seven felt too much like a departure from the rest of the Ys games to me, that I didn't like it too much. I didn't like the party system, nor did I like how verbose it was at all. I understand that they want to weave deeper narratives into the games, but that's not what Ys is to me at all. Not to mention that Seven's kinda braindead easy when you learn how to Flash Guard all the time. (Seven's the easiest of all the Ys games, really. >.>)Ys Seven dragged on too long and was too verbose. Shame Celceta is apparently the same way. Still buying it day 1, and I don't do that often.

Celceta is indeed similar to Seven with the party system, but it's better-managed. It's not as easy as Seven to break with Flash Guards and Flash Dodges, either, because they're harder to pull off. Celceta just didn't really feel like Ys 4 to me in the end. It feels like a better game than Seven and does a lot of stuff better. But while it takes stuff from Mask of the Sun and Dawn of Ys, it doesn't really use them to a full extent, I guess? It just feels like they used some bits of Ys 4 and slapped on the Ys 4 trappings to make it seem like a remake of Ys 4 when it really wasn't. It's a better game than Seven, for sure, but when you think about it being Ys 4, it's not.
As far as I remember it also restricts the amount of items you can carry.Didn't play Nightmare, but my understanding was that it was just HP and damage scaling which would only make the game more time consuming, rather than improve the difficultly.
I really wish they had soundtrack bundles with the games on Steam. Falcom plz. ;_;
