Zangief in Street Fighter 5. trailer

Just you really.
Bison has silver white hair, and both Ryu & Chun-Li look physically older this time around. And before Cammy had her recent redesign, she had sharper, stronger facial features. I don't know, I was hoping that Zangief would've gotten some sort of change in his design, as he definitely comes across as the most conservative change out of the returning cast.

I think I get where your coming from. You feel like that because other characters were able to get more detail added because of their clothing. Zangief on the other hand is mostly the same , since the skin in this game is just cartoon style.
But his model is definitely noticeable upgraded. Far from just a ported look.

I wish they updated his design a bit I guess after all the crap characters they created for sf4 they can't trust themselves with zangief redesign.
I thought he was just pushing him deeper into the ground. Which sounds better than it actually ended up looking. So lame.
Bison's hair is from his power...not so much his age IIRC. I also don't think Ryu and Chun look that much older either.

My disappointment will be lessened if Urien is in, but man, Zangief has been in too many SF games lately.

It's kind of a Charizard situation in that dedicated fans get upset that classic iconic characters take the spotlight from others most of the time
Purely anecdotal but I'll mention SF to people I kinda know every so often. Some of the reactions from people who don't game much have been like "I like the russian guy" or "m fucking bison" or "I like the stretchy guy".
From non-hardcore gamers I've only ever heard people bring up SF2 chars. I know some people who played SF2 at some gas stations casually and legit thought Blanka was the main character. If you mentioned Twelve or Necro to them, they'd be beyond lost.

Ryu and Chun Li weren't in Wreck it Ralph. I'm pretty sure Ken is the 2nd most popular male in Street Fighter.
Zangief was only it since he isn't a good guy. When did Zangief become a bad guy though?

I'm glad he's in. Although my top choices are Alex, Urien, Juri, and Makoto, I also wanted Balrog and Zangief.
Plus I'm glad it isn't Haggar, Cody, Ibuki, or C Viper.

There is no "big four," lol. And if there were, it would be Ken, Ryu, Chun, Akuma.

I have no answers for you, my friend. You asked when did Zangief and M. Bison become more popular than Ken. And I don't know. You didn't say anything about Ryu and Chun Li in your question and I didn't acknowledge them in my answer.
For what it's worth, both Ryu and Ken are in Wreck-It Ralph, too.
I am an outsider looking in, my perspective is limited, and came here to ask questions. I'm not making any claims, here. I literally know nothing about Street Fighter that isn't rooted in pop culture.

Zangief isn't a bad character by any means it's just that some people really like SF3 characters and want to see them again and Gief being confirmed pretty much means there will be no SF3 characters in the starting roster
also this is just my opinion they could have at least changed his design abit
