Zelda: Skyward Sword @ GDC New Trailer

It's from a different angle and (old) concept art rarely is 100% like the characters look in-game.
sure, i understand the other angle :P.
It could very well be the SS, but only if they changed her appearence in the game. especially the helmet part would be way different. It now looks like she has a forehead like a zora.

You said this about OOT 3DS too. It looks bad to you maybe, but to others (like myself), it looks pretty damn good. Unless you're simply trolling both threads.
To you they look good......to me they look bad. And no why would I be trolling. Loved the previous Zelda games.

I must say..graphically it looks disappointing. Twilight Princess looks significantly better and that was created on GameCube hardware.
No it doesn't.

Meh. Just incredibly annoying when people pipe into a thread to say 'LOOKS BAD!' without any reasoning as to why.

I think you need to play Twilight Princess again. The textures in Skyward Sword don't look like they belong in a N64 game.

Hum, it's a Zelda game. The art style hasn't detached itself from WW too much.
Looking forward to the combat improvements though I wish I could see more of the other improvements. Are they really there? All environments look like always, especially that lava section.
It'll be a great game anyway but I'm not hyped at all. :(

I suspect anyway Iwata is not happy with the game. Not entirely at least, because he said that "the game is now very solid".

And I add: but not spectacular

Ya I've been playing TP again recently. The visuals are really a lot worse than I remembered them. SS looks stunning in comparison.

I don't get it. The game looks pretty good but even the Zelda Spirit Tracks trailers had better editting. It's like Zelda Skyward Sword only exists in bits and pieces and they're unable to take footage from the full game. The E3 trailer was pretty much the tech-demo in trailer form, these are just some random gameplay snippets.

ok, doesn't look anywhere near as bad as it originally did when first shown. will be cautiously optimistic.

The trailer leaves me as unhyped as I was before.

I'll say it:
I think the Zelda team has lost their way.

Since you're repeating yourself and you're admitting it, let me do the same thing:

It's time the Zelda franchise to be developed by a different team. And Retro always is a great possibility.

I'm personally excited for the game (this trailer wasn't well put together though). I just wish they gave a release date.

They better come out guns blazing this E3. Even a November release seems unlikely.

I don't get what's wrong with that guy? I think he looks kind of cool. Hoping he's more skull kid then Zant. I want a villain that shows up more or even better, make him the new Midna / Navi. Have him pop up now and then to help you out.

High res shots of this game look so much better than any of the trailers thus far. Nintendo is marketing the game for its gameplay with Wiimotion+, when they should be playing up something about the story/Zelda series. That's why the trailers seem like crap.

Graphically, it looks nice. Controls-wise, it could be interesting. So long as they don't muck around too much with an awkward attempt of a story or space events and activities out too thin, this could be good.

I really don't get the complaints other than this being a poor trailer. The components of the game look good.

Really blurry and kinda washed out looking. Not all that exciting either, but it's worth noting that I don't have access to sound right now. Pretty decent concepts in variety being thrown around though, like that balancing moment.

Still, I've yet to be blown away by any Skyward Sword footage. Here's hoping E3 brings some jaw dropping stuff.

It's on GameTrailers now and I think it looks better than the youtube versions. I might be wrong, though.
And I liked the trailer itself... reminds be of WW though with a different artstyle.

Yeah, kind of.

Anyway, I think the game has absolutely to be pushed back at leat to the end of the year. It needs more polishment. But I think Iwata is aware of that. He didn't seemed quite happy with it.

considering we never had a date for it other than 2011, saying it's pushed back is kinda pointless

Character design leaning towards Majora's Mask.

Bring that shit on.

Well, we saw only one new character

But you're right: I can see something is this direction and I can only be pleased.

I think the only thing I'm impressed with is the gameplay. It looks like that finally Motion Plus is getting used as it should.

I thought some dude said Q2. I'm glad he was wrong then.

If comparison shots are being made, the screens need to be native resolution or as close to as possible. Notice how this screen looks 10x better than the one you posted at 1600x900? ;)

We really havent seen enough of the game to say whether or not its lacking polish tbh. For what its worth, this trailer sold me on the controls, which seemed like the overall goal here considering some of the confusion about them last E3. Assuming they work like they are supposed to, that trailer did make me think that the motion controls could provide some interesting gameplay.

Typical gaf zelda thread...

Anyway, anyone else concerned that they haven't revealed any part of the overworld?

I'm starting to think there may not be one...

yep, write the whole game off, that seems to be the smart thing to do.

"its stale, change it up!...but not the controls, i want to press A to swing a sword just like always...that change makes me angry!...it looks worse than a 5-year old game!...I wouldnt be happy no matter what they showed!...it looks like it plays like all the past games!...except in the obvious ways it doesn't but i hate those ways!"

comical

Wow, looks like after 5 years they finally figured out how to make a game with motion controls that aren't just pointing at the screen.

Ok I can get behind the fact that this art style will allow them to give us something different considering the limitations of the hardware, and I can totally respect Nintendo for doing it, because it doesn't look bad, it just needs to chill out on the technicolor dream scape.
The thing that is just crazy are the enemies, ok some might not agree with me here and that's fine, but there is just no feeling of combating evil in the least given what we have seen. It looks like Link is fighting some kind of Alice in wonderland dreamed up, non threatening type of enemy. I understand Nintendo wants to be able to make this a wide audience type of game because it guarantees revenue, but this feels like they are alienating some of the hardcore that purchase Nintendo systems for core games. When it was 8 bit/16 bit this was forgivable, with GC, Wii, we should have something that's not out of a fisher price design book. Again just an opinion, but I feel the game is just going way too soft, and they already have the DS games for a more casual audience.

If there are four of these "clowns" running around in this game, and they're the "Four Swords", I'm going to snap my game in half at the stupidity. Just saying. Kefkagus = Gilded Sword, and the cover girl = Master Sword. There's plenty of other swords that could tie into this game (Great Fairy Sword, Picori Blade, etc) that could make appearances in the form of the characters.

From The Dust said:
don't know why you would think that since they mention it repeatingly. it's going to be like the Snow Mansion in TP

Pure conjecture, unless you can provide a quote explicitly stating this.
